Give_Me_Novacaine90
Green Day: The 2004 'American Idiot' Cover Story Power to the people (with funny haircuts): A decade and a half after the first Green Day record, the boys from Berkeley grew up and got angry. So what did they do? Recorded a Bush-bashing rock opera featuring nine-minute songs — and ended up with their biggest smash in years. http://www.spin.com/articles/green-day-2004-american-idiot-cover-story/

desertrose
mentioned in article about Serena Williams 10. Her affinity for the '90s alternative rock band Green Day seems to have abated. She hasn't discussed Billie Joe Armstrong and Co. in quite some time, whereas she previously karaoked their songs, wore band shirts, and tweeted on the regular about that act. (By the by, BJA himself is 42 now.) This quietude about her allegedly favorite band probably means she will roar about them soon enough. That's so Serena. http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2014/09/her-birthday-33-trivia-bits-about-serena-williams/52879/#.VCcUlxaunDM

Give_Me_Novacaine90
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2015: A look at the potential nominees to be announced in October Newbies Here is a look at newly eligible acts you can take seriously in terms of getting nominated for 2015 induction: Green Day and Nine Inch Nails. Green Day is a shoe-in and will be the first band to ride the Nirvana wave of popular 1990s rock bands entering the Rock Hall. NIN may be a littler iffier, but everything Trent Reznor does these days only adds to his already impressive resume. http://www.cleveland.com/music/index.ssf/2014/09/rock_and_roll_hall_of_fame_201_9.html

desertrose
9 acts guaranteed to enter the Rock Hall in the near future Green Day (2015 Induction Ceremony) There will be more discussion on Green Day in the coming months, given that the band is likely to enter the Rock Hall in April. Green Day's resume is packed with big albums, huge hits, Grammys and critical acclaim. Heck, they even inspired a Broadway musical. Green Day's legacy stands as a punk rock act that grew up and helped shaped the rock music we hear on the radio today. http://www.cleveland.com/music/index.ssf/2014/09/9_acts_guaranteed_to_enter_the.html

desertrose
5 Bands Blamed for Bankrupting Their Labels Green Day Green Day weren’t the only band to pull its catalog from Lookout! Records in 2005 over complaints about not getting paid back royalties, but they were definitely the biggest, and their exit proved the most damaging. The veteran punk act issued its first two discs — 1990′s ’39/Smooth’ and 1992′s ‘Kerplunk’ — on the label, but in the mid-aughts, they weren’t getting paid for their sales and decided to bail on Lookout. The label immediately fired most of its staff and within a few years had gone under. http://diffuser.fm/bands-blamed-for-bankrupting-their-labels/?utm_source=zergnet.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=zergnet_243828

desertrose
10 Songs That Remind Us Of Growing Up In The 90s “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” by Green Day Released in 1997, Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” has since become the go-to song for countless graduation ceremonies and proms. As you put your arms around your friends and loved ones, this is when you reminisce about the good times. This is also the song that probably made you want to learn how to play the guitar. In my case, “Time of Your Life” was the first track I REALLY took the time to perfect. Having practiced the melody, chords and strumming patterns non-stop until my fingers start hurt, Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” will always hold a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my embarrassing days of trying to be “punk rock.” In fact, I thought I was such a rockstar that this was also the song I performed at a talent show with my elementary school. Yeah, I was pretty badass. http://www.andpop.com/2014/10/03/10-songs-remind-us-growing-90s/
