WhiteTim
Linkin Park = / = biggest band on the planet Well as of right now compared to Green Day they are... Their tours sells out they have one of the biggest paid fan clubs around their fan base is huge they have sold almost the same amount of albums as GD but with fewer albums Linkin Park being one of the biggest band around right now is accurate I'd say... Todd
My ass they are. When everyone from Metallica, U2, AC/DC, Kiss, RHCP, and the many countless better rock groups are dead, I'll accept it.

Cruise
Lol what happened? I just saw them a few weeks ago. Is it that thing whole suicide thing? yep their whole fanbase plummeted after that. As for Linkin Park I can understand them being up there but not number one. Actually I have never heard of more then half of the bands in the list so I have no idea how they are the biggest bands in the world. So top 5 would be right, number one maybe not.

Cruise
It could also be argued that Green Day should be higher on the list. I know its not the greatest source, but last year Green Day was the second most popular artist world wide on Last.fm. Plus I think a big issue with the latest live concerts not selling out is due to very little people having any idea they are doing anything. Like at Soundwave, if you didn't see the poster or happen to catch the ad it is very unlikely people would know they were even on the lineup and the band hardly promoted it and the media focused on other bands as the guys didn't want to talk to the media, since iheart. Same with trilogy sales. The list is pretty messed up. As there are bands who would have a hard time even half filling a small headline show in most places. I think they are more referring to biggest bands in their office not the world. I mean Biffy Clyro, come on huge in the UK, in Australia they are small venue tour out here next week and no shows have sold out. I hear they are not that big in the US either. Then there is You Me At Six, not even close to Biffy Clyro in their home, however they seem to have more overseas support. They are pretty big here, doing a small - medium tour here starting next weeks, some shows are sold out (including their biggest venue) and one sold out within 24 hours, but they constantly say they have a lot of trouble in the US, and are only now doing a small headline tour. Never heard of Black Stone Cherry. The Pretty Reckless, they are still small enough to be playing warped and couldn't even headline a small tour in most places around the world. Then there is Paramore, huge in the US, Australia and I assume the UK, not sure on Europe though, I know they had a lot of trouble there before but the new album may of changed that, so thats a maybe. A little further back on the list there is Jimmy Eat World, I thought I heard they were having a lot of issues because they got dumped by their record label and didn't know if they would release a new album, then they released Damage but it didn't sell all that great. I mean Uno and Dos did better and it only beat tre by 1 on the billboard top 200. So their list really conflicts with attendance and sales. So it is most likely bands they like the most in the office, or what they are exposed to the most in the mags.
Hermione
KERRANG! THE 60 BIGGEST BANDS ON THE PLANET RIGHT NOW with Green Day at #23 Linkin Park tops the list followed by Fallout Boys. http://www.kerrang.com/21888/60-biggest-bands-planet-right-now/ Well as of right now compared to Green Day they are... Their tours sells out they have one of the biggest paid fan clubs around their fan base is huge they have sold almost the same amount of albums as GD but with fewer albums Linkin Park being one of the biggest band around right now is accurate I'd say... The biggEST though? No way. And not sure where most of the bands should be, but much as I love Rammstein they haven't released an album for 5 years and have done absolutely nothing in the last year so I don't know why they're 2 places above GD. And someone tell me Limp Bizkit aren't actually big/popular now?! Nice to at least see Queens of the Stone Age in the top ten though.

Number one just seems a bit too high!

watchmefade92
There is a lot of arguable stuff on the list, for example that blink-182 ist bigger than Green Day right now, which is not true, blink's last album was released in 2011 and wasn't more succesful than the trilogy. Either way, Linkin Park is probably the biggest band right now, they had so many hits in the last few years. I don't like the band at all, in my opinion, they've become almost as bad as Nickelback, but a lot of people seem to like them. Green Day are still big, they are festival headliners and I don't think this will change so soon, but they had their really succesful time about ten years ago. Linkin Park fill that space now. They're absolutely destroying Europe, headlining basically every festival, yet in America and Australia they're practically unknown. Here's them playing at Soundwave earlier this year, with two men and a dog in attendance... and then here's them playing exactly the same song at T in the Park in Scotland, just a few months later, to about 80,000 people Madness

When the Rocksmith DLC came out, the collective response on American twitter was essentially: "who?" Even the Rocksmith people acknowledged that the DLC would probably only be known to European fans. Have they ever toured in America?

Have they ever toured in America? They toured way back in 2003, then did Warped tour in 2007, then did a full headline tour in 2010. They did a support tour for Muse plus a few headline dates in 2013 but had to cancel halfway through due to health reasons, but they came back and did a headline West Coast tour earlier this year to make up for the cancellations. God I know too much about this fuckin' band.

If they promoted Opposites or really any of their recent catalog in the US, did some late night shows and released a radio single or two, they could easily find success here. They have plenty of songs that could take off.

They really killed the small crowd they had at 11 in the morning, even though they were almost dying in the heat. As you say if their PR team stepped up their game out here I am sure they would make a killing.
