1. Green Day and blink-182 equal at 9? I'm inclined to disagree.

2. Everyone forgets Jason. He's an official member now!

Considering Green Day has been a trio for 20 years and were a trio during their times of most popularity, it's not difficult to understand why no one knows Jason is a fourth member, especially since he joined during a period of obscurity for Green Day.

Mention of the band here:

Fork in the road
One-time East Bay punk crew commemorates 20 years

Black Fork’s four speed-freaky contributions—which clock in at just under five minutes—were originally recorded with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong at Berkeley’s Catbox Studios when the four-piece was knee-deep in the legendary 924 Gilman Street scene that spawned bands like Blatz, Screw 32 and Operation Ivy.

Between disintegrating tours, Black Fork recorded one more full-length with Armstrong, 1997’s Rock for Loot for Lookout! Records, before they checked out the following year. The band was snotty, smart and short-lived. And, listening today, still unsung.

“I think some of those lyrics are more relevant today,” Josh says. “Health care sucks, and the country is still run by assholes.”

Over the past few years the band—which also includes East Bay-based drummer Jim “Nastic” Anderson and bassist Cyrus “T Nails” Comiskey—has gotten together for a handful of one-off shows. Now they’re going for it—for five shows at least. The Indars just returned from a weekend of rehearsals in the Bay Area, where they also were interviewed for an upcoming documentary on Gilman (financed by Armstrong). Josh says the reason to do these shows is pretty simple.

“We still love hanging out with those guys and playing. And I realize it’s still a really great punk band,” he says. “Plus, if we don’t get together and do it now, it may never happen.”

Who could replace Kurt Cobain in Nirvana?

Billie Joe Armstrong - Green Day's singer has the guitar skills and the pop punk spirit to play those Nevermind hits.

Ha hahahaha...no. As much as I love Billie that is a terrible idea.

The whole thing is awesome :D

"Drummer Mike Dirnt und Bassist Tré Cool" and 'Dookie has 12 songs'

How can they seriously put something like this online? Am I the only one who checks his sources before putting something on the internet?!

Maybe the writer downloaded Dookie and the download was missing two songs?

Maybe they thought Chump/Longview was 1 song, and they didn't count Welcome To Paradise because it was on Kerplunk

It's simple:

They just don't care about it. The boss of the 'author' said: "Alright, look...write a little review on Dookie - no matter if you like it or not - just get the facts."

8 Great LGBT-Themed Alternative Songs: Green Day, The Smiths, And More
1. Green Day - "Coming Clean" (1994)
Though there appears to be a gay joke in the lyrics to Green Day's "Basketcase" ("I went to a whore, he said my life's a bore..."), there's actually some truth behind this line. Billie Joe Armstrong may never have actually visited a male prostitute, but he did struggle to come to terms with his bisexuality, something that he sings about in "Coming Clean" from Dookie.

The Top 5 Guitar Vandals of All Time

#5 > Billie Joe Armstrong

Just like Caleb Followill, Greenday main man Billie Joe Armstrong sort of became an accidental guitar vandal when he had his now infamous meltdown that led to the cancellation of a number of Greenday shows and a stay in rehab. Reportedly upset over having his band’s set cut short to make room for a longer set for Usher, Armstrong went on a tirade that was capped off by the singer smashing his beautiful double cutaway TV-Yellow Gibson Les Paul Junior to bits. It hurts to see such a beautiful instrument being destroyed, but we take solace in the fact that Armstrong was able to get the help he needed and has since resumed work with Greenday and taken the band around the world on a highly successful tour.

Cool that it's on the list, shame about the crappy write-up. How is that line in Basket Case a "gay joke"? It's about the gender of the person not mattering, not a joke.

I amused myself for hours the other day watching people argue/have their minds blown in the comment section of a Basket Case lyric video. You don't see the same reaction on the Coming Clean vids.

this is interesting:

Billie Joe who has led Green Day to world-wide fame with hits such as ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ was struck by the sound of the Grantham band and invited Matt and Josh out to California.

Mattsaid: “I used to talk to Billie Joe about bands over the internet, and to have someone from Green Day listening to your music is incredible.”

Still reeling from their trip across the pond, Josh added: “We were treated like rockstars.”

As well as hanging out with the Green Day front-man, his son and drummer Joey Armstrong fromOaklandrockers Emily’s Army was also on hand during the recording sessions, and the teenagers are thrilled with the tracks they’ve created together.

Bloody hell, Grantham is not too far from where I live and Matt is an amazing artist. So very happy for them all!

I will be going next Sunday to check them out in Market Deeping. Says on their website that their gigs this summer will include a band from California. Any guesses as to who that might be? :)
