16 MUSICIANS LOSING THEIR SHIT ON STAGE

GREEN DAY

If you’ve ever seen a toddler throw a fit because it’s past his bedtime, then you should already be familiar with Billie Joe Armstrong’s legendary tantrum at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in 2012. After Green Day got their set cut short to make room for Usher, Billie dropped the f-bomb almost as many times as America has had to hear that stolen intro on “American Idiot.” He reminded everyone that he’d been around since “fucking nineteen eighty fucking eight” and that he “is not Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers” before smashing his guitar and tossing the mic. He checked in to rehab two days later. Eyeliner is a hell of a drug.

I didn't say you had. But obviously there's a fine line between discussing the concept and speculating, and crossing it is just an invasion of privacy (not saying people are trying to, just that it is and it's a fine line).

Oh yes, I agree. I just hate how there's a dynamic on here of the "OMG HE'S RELAPSED!" people and the "HOW DARE YOU SPEAK OF IT" people. I just wish there was a happy medium, y'know? We can talk about it without everyone having a shit fit. :P

I'd never claim to have a clue what's going on in that brain of his, nor do I care, as long as he's happy, his family's fine and the band is still together and touring on occasion.

Isn't there a topic for Billie's issues? It would be great if discussion took place there.

Nah that would give it more importance than it deserves. It's alright to comment if a mention of it comes up and is posted here (I doubt this small discussion is going to go on for pages and pages, looks like it's pretty much over to me), and if a bigger piece of news relating to it came up we'd have a thread for it, but we don't need a whole thread just for speculating about it when it's a private matter and there's nothing of substance to discuss.

20 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About the Warped Tour

There has been a no-fireworks rule at Warped ever since Green Day's security guy blew off his fingers.

Fuck! Didn't know about that. The little interview posted with it is cool as well, although I noticed nothing about that fact is actually mentioned in it.

I know they aren't =/ But GD.com posted them like that, so I don't know... Maybe someone who can buy the magazine will scan them better.

20 songs turning 20 this year

Dookie" was Green Day's major-label debut, and "Longview" was its first single (it went to No. 1). There probably was no better song in 1994 that captured that "slacker" mentality (pot smoking! boredom! other things we can't say!). It's also likely the best thing ever to come from being high on LSD, as bassist Mike Dirnt said he was doing when he wrote the bass line.

Diana Ross Is Performing at Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross’s Wedding (Plus 5 More Celebrity Wedding Singers!)

5. Billie Joe Armstrong

Even though the pair may seem to be an odd match, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Mark Zuckerberg are good friends. Such good friends, in fact, that Billie surprised Mark and his wife, Priscilla, with an impromptu performance at their surprise wedding reception in 2012.

"American Idiot" is the title of a 2004 Green Day album. "Never Be Content" is the title of an album from the defunct band Innerpartysystem, but it's unclear if the message is related to the two albums.

14 singers and bands struck by objects thrown from the crowd
Green day: This relatively early bottling incident took place at Woodstock Festival in 1994. Members of the crowd decided they didn’t like Billie Joe Armstrong and co’s brand of punk pop and took to hurling mud and grass at the stage. The band threw it back and a huge mud fight ensued.

Hmm, pretty sure it was because Billie dared them to throw it and deliberately encouraged a mud fight rather than because the crowd didn't like him!
