The 10 Most Romantic Punk Songs of All Time

9. "At The Library" by Green Day

Way back in the old days, before Green Day became the symbol of all things Punk hates (well, most things), the group released this quaint little number about a boy who's just not quite brave enough to approach his crush. It's a timeless tale that rings truer than any of the empty political statements of the band's more recent years.

I know this is old, but I was rewatching the Rig Rundown that was posted a year ago and noticed that after 5:00 when he's explaining Billie's acoustic guitars, he mentions that the acoustic one we've been seeing him play for the last few years is actually "The Everly Brothers guitar" and that it was designed by the Everly's father! At the time this obviously meant very little to most of us, but looking back it's really amazing and makes everything come full circle. (To be clear, it's not that it belonged to the Everlys, just that it was the same model)

Rig Rundown - Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt & Jason White

It also means that the guitar that Billie gave to the Everly family at the Grammys, in a weird way, always belonged to them. (At least by design).

Wow, well spotted!

Hey everyone, I've just seen this weeks kerrang magazine and they have done a little green day cartoon which is a bit funny :D

It's funny, but since they're in that thing called magazine every week, it's nothing special anymore

What magazine it's in or how often Green Day are in that magazine makes no difference whatsoever to how funny/special/interesting/anything else the cartoon is.

Somewhat spoiled by the idiotic last sentence, but nice to see that song mentioned.

A Rock Goddess Shows Us Around Oakland

Sure, S.F. has its share of style setters, but these days, it’s what's percolating on the other side of the bridge (ahem, that would be Oakland) that has us taking notice.

Take East Bay's resident badass, Brittney Cade. The rock-and-roll goddess (Green Day’s Mike Dirnt is her hubby, so music is a visceral part of her life) is an inspiring mom, designer, activist, and gal-about-town — who also happens to have one helluva wardrobe. Yup, Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Chanel — gang's all here! So, as we do, we tapped the style star to tour us around her 'hood, and it was good. (Spoiler: Our new favorite vintage spot is involved. Also: milkshakes.)

"8. They’re mercifully not playing anything off Billie Joe’s Everly brothers cover album with Norah Jones"

Legit made me giggle out loud. Gotta love the Aussies.

NME have included Jaded in a list of "30 Irrationally Short Tracks That Should Be Way Longer." It's the stupidest damn list I've ever seen, why does a song being longer make it better? There's just no need for it given the energy of the song.

I agree for Jaded, but I have always felt that Good Riddance would benefit from one more verse. It would be so easy to write another four lines and I'm sure whatever additional lyrics would just add to the reflective power of the song. Not that it didn't do fine as it is ;)

Since the Anchorman 2 thread is closed

The blu ray has a "much much longer more jokse more cameos more Burgandy" edition coming out April 1st...

Which means the GD footage could be included...

It'll also be shown in theaters for a week starting next week

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed a while back that they were not in the movie at all

They werent in the one originally released but consider this they cut almost a hour out and they left some cameos out in the process from what I was told from a friend of mine who worked on the film GD was filmed

The version thats coming out to theaters next week and on blu ray in April is the extended cut which could mean they could have been inserted back in

Im not reporting that GD is for sure in this version as well but could be the director said there'd be a few cameos in this edition that wasnt included in the regular version but he didnt say exactly who the cameos were

Will Ferrell told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show that this "other version" will include a musical number (song) and many different jokes/lines AND it is longer.

MAYBE Green Day COULD be involved in the musical number?

8 Great Billie Joe Armstrong Quotes

The Green Day frontman has said some insightful stuff over the years and here’s some of the best.

http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/music/news/2014/2/8-things-you-probably-didnt-know-billie-joe-armstrong-said/

Yeah he has had some insightful stuff to say over the years and they could try to accurately quote him instead of rearranging his sentances and misquoting him. Some of the quotes are taken from tv interviews etc where I have (and I'm guessing loads of fans) seen him actually speak the sentences himself. Why even do it if not properly?

Haha agreed! Stupidest one is "There's nothing wrong with being a loser, it just depends on how you are at it". Why would they take the word "good" out of that sentence?!
