Little Boy Named Booze
So maybe OEB has been modified? Really great summary for each tracks, can't wait to hear!
Karol Oliveira
Now I'm really interested to hear Bobby Sox. Surprised to read Saviors isn't worth of commentaries though.

Beerjeezus
Very excited to hear about non trivial harmony. They could use some variety instead of the usual 3 or 4 power chords.
devilskind92
Well that's a bummer. This is the one I've been looking forward to the most. But man, now that I've read all of this I'm even more excited for the album!!

So what do I have to do to get a Saviors preview? I interviewed Kevin once...that counts right? 😂 1
billy1986
Father To Son seems like it’s a masterpiece
Popular Post Reverend Strychnine Twitch
These are the ones I look forward to most. *Strange Days Are Here to Stay - is quite reminiscent—in both tempo and more—of Basket Case *Goodnight Adeline - merges When I Come Around and the subsequent Armstrongian power ballads *Coma City - has a fantastic, memorable tail, stopping just short of a rock opera *Bobby Sox - It starts with slow voice and accordion-like guitar chords, a bit sloppy. After a couple of rounds, the full band kicks in with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe himself delivers an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very gritty, almost Chester Bennington-like (RIP), something rarely heard from him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy, with hints of Weezer in its demeanor and arrangement. Father to a Son - The most moving piece of the album. It relies on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic progressions. The almost Beatlesque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato. And Rob asks: 'Are you ready to make rock and roll history again?'

A piece not worthy of note. At the start of the article they said we'll all sing it together and during the tracks by tracks summary it's nothing noteworthy. Ok so which one is it?

Ok so which one is it? I didn't even realize they said "we'll sing it together" at the start which makes it even weirder. I guess the best interpretation is that Saviors is sort of just what you'd expect it to be. A title track that sort of just sums up the album as a whole without doing anything different from the other tracks Based on the track descriptions, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of political/social commentary, a lot more of it seems to be personal. Outside of TADIKM, the tracks here that seem most likely to include political and/or social commentary are Coma City & Livin' in the '20s. The title track could be one of those political/topical songs too since we don't know anything about it

mao
As I recall, the post itself was deleted that day or the next day But at that time, the post quoting the interview was still there and could be read from it. But now the quote itself has been removed... Was there a copyright related complaint?

But I do think the band describing Saviors as “the bridge between Dookie and American Idiot” deserves a lot more discussion.

He drummed for them for a year as young teens under several different names including Sweet Children. He was long gone before they became Green Day and way before they ever got booked at Gilman or played any real gigs. But to hear him say it, he was GrEeN DaY’s FiRsT DrUmMeR! He even had the delusional nerve to downplay John Kiffmeyer and go, “Yeah, he drummed with them for just a short time and that was it.” No man, that’s YOU. John is literally the drummer on the first two Green Day EPs and first album. He was the first drummer in the band called Green Day, not you. What exactly does he want credit for? Playing drums in Billie’s living room with them when they were 15? Sit down dude, you’re embarrassing yourself 🙄 My feelings on Raj have been mixed. He seems like a rough dude with some internal conflict. The credit part gives me a “?” But also, he does mention some album that disappeared… From what I hear on 39/Smooth those parts are very John Kiffmeyer and John is a lefty with a regular kit so he approaches the kit very differently than most drummers. Maybe he wants to be a bigger part of the story and get that recognition? I dont even think he really knows what he wants tbh. I like hearing Raj’s stories but hate when he’s asked about his feelings about Green Day.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Wait, kind of a backhanded compliment. He'd rather them fail miserably over 36 songs than to try and preach to us on Rock Operas????......oooooooh. Hahahahahaha Call me out of touch, and I pretty much use YouTube to watch cute cat videos - but why are we supposed to care what this bloke says so much? YouTube music reviewers are ten a penny yet I keep seeing him posted. Does he have a reputation of hating the band or something? This seems like entry-level music review stuff. I watched it, and he's right about a few things but he also contradicts himself several times. The "rawness" of the early albums is a bad thing yet the "rawness" of the Trilogy is a good thing? U wot m9? I agree with his take on FOAMF largely, and although American Idiot is a masterpiece on the whole, I've noticed GD fans especially read WAY too much into the lyrics and the supposed narrative. I watch music discussion on youtube for the same reason I come here. I love talkig music, and part of that, a huge part of meaningful conversation - is disagreement. Anthony isn't a fan of Green Day, he likes more avante gard stuff like Death Grips. And the narrative of Idiot? I'm definitely one of those people. I walk around thinking about it all the time. I can and do talk about it often. I won't ramble, but at it's simplest, it's a breakup album. At it's most complex, I could and very well might write a book, 😄 I started an American Idiot novel several times, but it never worked out. Especially now that I'm a ten-a-penny YouTuber. 😉 While I enjoy critisism of things I love, the never ending hate of certain albums does bum me out sometimes.

Totally with you and have no idea why we’re meant to care what some random thinks. Vocal coaches etc, other musicians can be quite interesting but a lot of these folks just like the sound of their own voices.
