Interesting, they did change their minds.

I think they wanted to wait and see if it actually ever happened before getting involved.

For convenience here it is:

Who’s been the best band to party with?

“Green Day were really fun. We toured with them in Japan and it was one big hot mess. I remember being out with them drinking and I got up on the bar and started dancing to ‘Immigrant Song’[by Led Zeppelin] and the next night they learned the track and played it in their set.”

You can clearly see where they’re getting their setlist from these days

This means that Give Me Novocaine is their most well known deep cut.  Interesting.    Yes, big bands play the most streamed songs, which isn't new.   Most bands just play the hits.   What's interesting is to a see a band that's never been on tv or the radio or the charts, and see them build deep cuts into their most played songs on streaming services, essentially MAKING it their biggest hit instead of whatever tanked single the band release.

As far as the big bands like Green Day, I don't know if they are looking at Spotify and deciding to play those songs, or it's the other way around where their biggest hits are simply the most streamed.     All I know is someone that loves every note that Green Day make, it makes me just a little uncomfortable to see.   But that's the way it is.   I'm a member of GDC and most people....aren't.

Wow, those numbers are stunning!  FOA not too shabby despite some opinions here.

It's amazing how a song, album or even band can be known as unsuccessful when they really aren't.

St. Anger by Metallica is aggressively labeled as one of the worst albums of all time, but it sold 6 million copies which even by Metallica standards is pretty darn good.  About the same as Ride the Lightning, which is wild.    Hot take, I love St Anger.

Curious why LNOE has so many daily streams.  That's more than Longview.

Fat Mike talks about the punk rock museum, which sounds amazing.  You can play guitars, hang with bands, etc.   He talks about putting bands in there that don't consider themselves punk and when pushed to say who, he says Green Day.  They say they are a rock band and that's it. Other bands are in there like Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold because of where they come from and not because of their genre.  I think every band has some element of punk in the mix.  I once read that Barenaked Ladies were influenced by Punk. Anyway, great podcast.  Fat Mike is very serious and Finn seems kind of baffled by that at times.

The 90s Punk stuff starts at the 26:40 mark, but the whole thing is interesting.    Green Day have some cool stuff in there.  This would be a cool meet up for GDC one day.

Apparently it's a popular wedding song.
