Bad news for those of us who want the FOAM era to be over with :P

I wonder if these songs are b-sides or if they didn't fit theme of the album.

There's a interview with Green Day on the newest issue of Finnish music magazine "Soundi". The interview was done when the band was in Spain last November. It's about their writing and recording of FOAM, history as a band and how they've sticked together so long, their opinions about social media and releasing new music. It's really nice interview! It's in Finnish so scans wouldn't do much.

One thing is worth a mention! This is the quote:

"Billie: We still have six or seven songs which didn't fit in this album. However, we want to continue to release new music as soon as possible, so those are going to end up as a singles or EP maybe next year or in 2021."

They have talked about releasing new music after the album is out, but I think that's pretty exciting!

I think that kinda supports the idea that they’re getting independent. I’m not sure they could release stuff that quickly after the album release, if they were still in their label but I don’t know cause it may not be a problem for the label too.

2021 though? 😕 Originally he said they planned to release more before the tour. Why does releasing finished music online have to take so long? These songs were already recorded a year ago.

Actually he said this year or 2021. The interview was done in November so that was little unclear, sorry!

Maybe they decided it'll be better to give us something after the tour ends so that there's not complete silence

They probably want to give some room to FOAM first. I would not expect something before next fall, despite the “even before the tour” thing Billie once said.

Yeah I saw that, but was commenting on the fact that he even said it could now be 2021. Worst case scenario maybe but why so long if so?

But if these songs were from the same session they would likely complement the FOAM songs. I’m guessing they’re similar two minute punches in the face not a completely new direction. With a 26 minute album, we can handle a couple bonus songs and not get overwhelmed. This isn’t the trilogy.

I like how with Longshot he released the album and also three EPs right along side it.

Well, we don’t really know that. Maybe they are quite different songs even if they are from the same sessions. Maybe they are still fast and punchy but with a more classical punk rock sound.
Or maybe they just want to release a couple of other singles from FOAM and they will throw them out after the tour.

I love the Longshot approach as well, but there was no real commercial strategy behind those release. Here is different I think.

I seem to remember Billie Joe (who we know says lots of things) said it in a pretty off the cuff, "who knows, maybe" kind of way which I didn't really take to mean we should hold our breath for more music.  Maybe they wanted to go into negotiations for a new contract or entirely different contract being able to say, well we already have half a dozen songs ready to go, whether they go out in a more independent, random pattern or form part of the next big album, who knows

I don't know if it was mentionned yet, but while I was listenning to the radio today, it was said GD will be on Good Morning Americas on February 10th (and on Ellen Degeneres Show too but we already knew that). I have no idea from where the radio station took the information.

We've got threads going for each appearance.

All his facial expressions were amazing in that video, pouting/pursing his lips constantly made me really laugh lol and also his impression of a dead body in the last part was my favorite lol
