Green Day’s upcoming thirteenth album Father of All Motherfuckers doesn’t drop until next February, but the band is already busy promoting the effort with a new single. Their latest offering “Father of All…” (which the album is also being referred to by those who don’t want to use its more adult-leaning proper title) bolted to the top of a genre-specific chart last frame, giving them another leader and helping them inch closer to the all-time record for the most champions.

“Father of All…” became Green Day’s fifth No. 1 hit on the Rock Airplay chart last week, proving that even after decades in the business, the band is still regarded as a favorite among those who listen to rock radio across the country.

With five No. 1 hits on the Rock Airplay chart, Green Day holds onto the title of the act with the second-most leaders, but they break out of a tie with three other super successful groups. According to Billboard, before last week, the pop-punk legends were on the same level as Imagine Dragons, The Black Keys and Cage The Elephant, all of whom have collected a quartet of chart-owning titles. Those three bands have been pushed to third place on the list of the acts who have ruled the most times.

Now, Green Day sits alone in second place with five No. 1 rock radio smashes, and they only need one more to match the current champion of the chart, Foo Fighters, who have secured half a dozen leaders.

Green Day scored their first chart-topper in 2009, the year this specific list was introduced by Billboard. The group’s single “Know Your Enemy” rocketed to the top, and since then, they’ve reached the highest rung fairly regularly. They returned to the top in 2012 with “Oh Love,” in 2016 with “Bang Bang” and until this latest win, most recently with 2017’s “Still Breathing.”

It’s worth mentioning that if the Rock Airplay chart had been around before 2009, Green Day’s career count would surely be much, much higher. The band has produced some of the most successful rock tracks of all time in the past quarter century, and they enjoyed crossover success in both the ‘90s and again in the mid-aughts. It’s tough to predict how many No. 1s they may have by now if the Rock Airplay list existed when they first appeared on the scene, but it would surely be higher than five.

Awesome!  Anyone know when it will actually be out, hoping to pick it up in airport next week?

I would usually say within the next week it should be out.  I'm still subscribed to the magazine, and I usually receive a new issue in that timeframe after they post the cover story online.

Can you scan and post it on the board (new thread)?

In todays latest Green Day news, I just ordered my first bag of Oakland Coffee.

Had to make sure I was getting ground and not bean because I wouldn't know what to do with that.  Haha.

Maybe I should be over in the "you know you're a fan when" section....

But yeah.

I’m not even a coffee drinker (I usually drink tea) but I got a free box of Oakland Coffee K pods and damn that’s good coffee. I like having it around for the occasional cup when I’m in the mood. Only brand I’ll drink.

I’m trying to find the thread where it was first reported but a while back someone spotted that Billie was listed in the cast of a documentary series coming out in February on rock musicians that surf. Well I checked it today to see if there was any more information on this series and it looks like Billie is no longer listed there

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10274970/

I was trying to find what we knew about it before. I thought it was a Discovery Channel series only now the page only has a release date for Brazil where it was produced and no mention of a network.  But now it’s not clear if he’s even in it so there’s that 😕

ETA: Okay searched and found this so it seems he is still in it, but it is only airing in Brazil?

This says they have not announced US distribution but hopefully our friends at Green Day Brazil will share it @Alf

Please, oh please let it be Green Day (or literally any of the other rumored acts would be okay too) and not that overhyped Taylor Swift. :P I want to see some PRO shot footage of the boys!

Green Day get a mention in this Kerrang Article: 14 ROCK SONGS THAT FEATURED IN THE SIMPSONS

https://www.kerrang.com/features/14-rock-songs-that-featured-in-the-simpsons/

3. GREEN DAY – AMERICAN IDIOT

It might just be for a few seconds, but Green Day’s American Idiot appears in The Simpsons Movie. Yes, you might remember them playing the Simpsons theme on a barge that eventually sinks into the polluted lake, killing the band, but at their funeral a special organ version of American Idiot rings out in the church. Moments later, Abe bursts in while screaming about impending doom to set up the rest of the film.

I thought it was interesting that Strangers And Thieves was originally intended to be a Rodeo Queens song. It gives me hope they still exist as a project
