Is time of your life really green days "biggest hit"? I feel like ive seen that claim thrown around before. It's hard to tell when you're so deep into the band.

When someone asks me what do they sing.  I say AI or Time of your life at a stretch they might know BOBD or WMUWSE.

The boys will be going directly into the studio when the current tour is over.

They will take a short break and record what is being leaked through some sources saying they think the stuff they've been writing on this tour will be one of their most ambitious and best work to date.  Of course they think that but you heard it here and it is coming from a direct source.

Lot's more Green Day in our future guys. :)

I don't know if this counts as "news" but I didn't know where to put it.

I trust you

It''s indirect trust but thanks.  I mean Billie could have said it directly to me (he didn't) and it would still be not a definite thing but it's about the next best thing.  It's a shade away.

It's what I was hoping for anyway, that they've been writing and are anxious to get back to the studio. They've enjoyed this tour so much I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting back out there before too long too.

Yeah, that's what made me happy to hear it.  I am always afraid (and more so as they are getting older) that they will one day just stop and  you never know what show will be the last.  You never know anyway.

Gotta enjoy them as they come.  It's an amazing thing, to an extent that some people might not realize that a band who's front man had to go through a recovery to be able to get back up and not only create music that is as good as what they were doing but better.  I don't think there are many that would say that the Trill is as good as RevRad but I still contend if you take all the best songs from all 3 and put them together, you have one really good fucking album but not with a narrative like RevRad does.  I just know there is not living legends that can last for another 20 years right now and Green Day in theory could do that.  I doubt it but I would be happy with a couple more albums and a couple more tours but musicians that love to tour just love to tour.  Look at Paul McCartney.  He is still playing way into his 70s and guess what? He puts on a great fucking show.

I wonder if they will do it at Otis or shoot for the moon this time and go big and bring a producer back in too. and if they're writing on tour does this mean Jason will be in on it again? hype!

@LaughingClock

Paul is amazing, I don't know how he does it. But he's similar in that he loves to tour as you say and loves the response of an audience like Green Day does. Like Billie has said, no one leaves Green Day unless it's in a coffin. They're not going to just stop (or even slow down) for any other reason. Not when they love what they do so much and have often pointed out that without music they wouldn't know what to do with themselves. And thank goodness.  They really have found a new drive and purpose since I want to say the Hall of Fame induction once all their troubles were behind them.

I've loved each album more than the previous one I just see them getting better and better even still.

"Most ambitious"? Sounds ambitious!

Ok but that's awesome if true! This is my first album era as a serious fan and I'm already dreading the silence so the shorter the wait the better lol. Don't really have difficulty imagining it to be true considering how happy and inspired they appear to be atm, but you better not be jacking up expectations for nothing :runaround:

Now now I'm sure they've learned their lesson. And it's not like the songs weren't great. As long as it's not another triple album they'll be fine.

I love the fact that because of that tiny muttered flub this beautiful heartfelt ballad gets an explicit warning label. 😄

Only Green Day 😂

Well...only in single form. Nimrod has plenty of others...actually their worst...to get it for without GR lol.

Ha! My thoughts went more in the direction of rock opera, but true. It's kind of interesting to hear because they've been so clear on how they enjoyed the simplicity of Rev Rad and doing it on their own at Otis. But we can only wait and see what it means (if anything) I guess.

If GD are still touring in their 70's - my great grandkids will be pushing me in a wheelchair.

I think the whole opera thing gets an overblown sense of reality.  RevRad has as strong a narrative as any of the other albums.  Also, Billie has been so prophetic with his writing in AI and TCB that he has to feel so confident right now. Don't look so far into the ambitious part of the comment.  I was just told that they are really digging what they are writing on the road right now and I would imagine it is fueled by global geopolitics and Billie, again, feeling quite confident in his thoughts.  When he feels strongly, (love, politics, etc) is when he writes best and it could mean anything.  Also, it was just a single person that said it although a person of direct relation to the band or I wouldn't mention it.  As for "it could be years away", well that's true as 1) we don't know when the current tour will end and b) they have to record it, play it out a little, then release it.  All that shit takes time.  One thing Green Day has been fairly consistent with is the space between albums and usually averaging about 4 years. If I had a gun to my head and had to make a guess, i would say 3 for this one simply because Billie is probably writing the a lot right now, knows he's getting older (and I think this would complete their Warner contract) and they achieved what they wanted by going back to basics and making it just the three of them and when you add the other boys to the mix (and in all reality, aside from Tre, they are better musicians NOT MORE MUSICAL, don't flame me for that, just a fact, Jason and the boys are just great musicians), and you have what could be and hopefully will be some great lyrics and some good music coming once they hit the studio (whenever that will be).  I am still on the upward trajectory with RevRad. I still listen to it and like it more every time.

No I get that, t'was a joke  I am with you 100% and Billie seems to be on fire so it's very exciting indeed!
