herewegoagain
Just when I'd come to terms with not needing one of those. Hold on, maybe it means it'll be easier to find an old one cheap 🤔

I hope all the leftover stuff ends up on their website. There are show specific things I really regret not buying at the concert, like the baseball jerseys. Havent even seen them on ebay, but the Wrigley ones were on there and like $

So I'm bringing this back up cause you asked and I finally went back and found it. It was in a Rolling Stone interview from March. There were a couple answers that I thought helped point to the reasoning though they weren't super direct:How did the club tour go that you guys did a few months back?[Billie] It was great. We got to play old deep cuts. People were pretty stoked. When you play big places it's a little harder to go deep, but we manage to get in a couple. In smaller places we have freedom to do whatever we want. ... You guys aren't playing any of those [Uno/Dos/Tre] songs on this tour though. [Mike] No, not right now because the new record is being received so well. We have good problems. We're playing for two-and-a-half hours now. We could easily turn it into a four-hour Springsteen set, but I feel like we're putting out Springsteen's energy in two-and-a-half hours. Also, at a certain point you just exhaust the crowd. I saw somebody say the other day, "They played a couple of covers when they should have squeezed in some more of their old catalog, but I guess it's OK since they did 33 songs." Fuck you. Who plays 33 songs? Not to mention, some of those songs are seven and nine minutes long. Come on, man. Give me a break here. So especially with Mike's it's like...people get so demanding and bitchy sitting from their computers. Fuck you, man. They don't even have to be out here. I can't stand when we sit here and act like we know how their shows should or shouldn't work. We aren't them or the crew, we don't work the shows, and at some point critiquing turns into bitching and it gets real fucking petty.
pacejunkie punk
Not to nitpick but the current shows are averaging about 26-27 songs, not 33 but point taken.

Well again, this was back in March during the first US leg. The more important note is Billie saying bigger venues = less freedom. I take that to mean that there is something more procedural about larger venues which is why they remain consistent. But that's been my speculation from the get go. Idk anything about it for certain, but lights, pyro and set pieces are all probably on a specific schedule and to constantly mess with that would be to mess with multiple people's workflow. To Mike's point...I think some people may not have the experience of what an awkward fucking crowd looks and feels like. And let me tell you, Cinci was fucking awkward. You know when what youre dealing with is just casual fans. My crowd at that show was much older, likely former casual fans and also in a rather conservative area. The best reactions only came from the Dookie songs. Even the RevRad songs were just so flat with crowd reaction. I mean, it was lame enough that Billie legit sat down and waited during Hitchin after an "Are you ready?" moment cause the crowd was not super there. Im spoiled from their good shows, but yeah it was...not the most lively. And they definitely didnt know his routine well (ie "hey oh") So yeah, idk, sit through that and then tell me that needed something like an Insomniac track the general public didn't really hear and I will laugh. I think we forget how big they are. And we forget that very basic and casual fans can and will make up a large part of the crowd. Or even first-time concert goers who might never see them again. I think they tried to make a setlist that gets to everyone and I dont blame them for being consistent to maintain that.

Maddie86
so a guy from my city got to sing Longview the other night and it's blowin up all over facebook, do these kinds of articles pop up after every show? I mean, it happens every night... http://991thewhale.com/binghamton-man-rocks-w-green-day/ what annoys me is that this guy and I have mutual friends that actually hate green day and talk shit about them, and yet these "friends" (I use the term loosely) are posting like this is the greatest thing ever (I'll admit it's exciting) and they're acting like they aren't snobby metalheads that look down on GD
