pacejunkie punk
A video directed by Sam Bayer which is awesome if true. I wonder if they're shooting it during this short break. Also, some confusion since it sounds like they said Somewhere Now is the single but Forever Now the video. Make of it what you will and discuss. 🙃

It is slightly long but it's as good a choice as any other (aka the best choice), they may as well. Leaving this here as well, what Billie said on Absolute Radio: Quote That was the glorious new single from Green Day, Somewhere Now [...] -You've outdone yourselves with the videos this time. Bang Bang was really fun, Still Breathing was beautifully shot. -Yeah we've done some great work with the directors, and... I think hopefully we'll be working with Sam Bayer again. We're gonna do a video for the song Forever Now. He did a lot of the AI stuff, and, sp yeah It's really important to have great videos for us, anyway. The Grohl
Ugh...Sam's work is good no doubt, but he's such a pretentious asshole. But the AI videos were great...most of them....so I guess that's what's important.

FN has almost 7 minutes. I how no idea how is it going to get any airplay. (And I really don't want them to cut it short.) OW has highest streaming numbers from all non-singles. That's my answer as to what would be the best choice.
Nathan2521
Forever now will be the new music video, directed by Sam bayer, and somewhere now is the new single, in the UK only! I am super thrilled that Sam Bayer will be working on this mv. No question the best song on rev rad, and I hope he does it justice.

I don't remember where but I recently heard someone talking about the new Foo Fighters single, and (very broadly) thematically it was almost as if someone would be talking about FN, not comparing them directly but it seems sort of the same type of song. I've heard it on the radio here in prime time to so the duration doesn't seem like a hindrance, even if it's "only" 5.23. Ordinary World is a sweet song but it's essentially a poor man's Good Riddance, I'd rather they promoted the rocky sound. Which it seems they are

Which it seems they are Huh it's not that I really care about the sales but I suppose they do (even though it often doesn't look like it). It is a similar kind of song, but idk...I don't complain - FN is actually one of my favorites from revrad - but I just expect it to not be very successful on radio. It didn't work for me at the first listen and I can't imagine it becoming a major hit. There's only one station I repeatedly heard Bang Bang, SB and RevRad on. I caught BB and SB on TV a couple times but that's it. If SB sort of fell flat (and it was a fucking sample from the company that wrote songs for One Direction, how more radio-friendly could they really try to go withought completely losing their trademark sound), I can't imagine FN doing well. And I can't wrap my mind around them doing this after the train wreck called revrad. I agree that OW would mean playing it safe and perhaps trying to do another Good Riddance, but chances are that it would actually work out. The streaming numbers of OW are much higher of any other song's. It'd have a much better chance of succeeding commercially. With that being said, I love both SN and FN and I'll very much enjoy hearing them on the radio, no matter how rare that would be. And I actually have respect for Green Day for picking an ambitious single instead of going the easy route. 7 minutes ago, Hermione said: Forever Now or Somewhere Now as a single - Sam Bayer - ugh Yes and yes. pacejunkie punk
AI, BOBD and Holiday are some of my favorite videos. I love Sam's work. I don't care if he's a jerk, as long as I just get to watch the videos, I don't have to work with him. 🙂
Montclare
I'd be happy with either Forever Now or Ordinary World as the next single. OW makes more sense, but I like the unconventional choice of FN. Either way, I don't expect it to do anything phenomenal on the charts. You have to remember, this is the 4th single. The spotlight's not on the album like it was last summer/fall. Other than WICA and WMUWSE, no fourth single of theirs has done that great.
pacejunkie punk
I think it's a personal choice. They love Forever Now and they love playing it. I can't wait to get a video of a nearly seven minute song!

On balance I'd rather they pick someone else. But have to wait and see I suppose, should be interesting to see what he comes up with either way.

OW does have more mainstream appeal but selfishly I'm over the moon that they chose one of my faves - and their own too. If they put out OW as the final single after FN I won't complain at all. 9 hours ago, pacejunkie punk said: AI, BOBD and Holiday are some of my favorite videos. I love Sam's work. That Dude
1 year, 9 months, 4 days (between 1039 and Kerplunk) 2 years, 15 days (between Kerplunk and Dookie) 1 year, 8 months, 9 days (between Dookie and Insomniac) 2 years, 4 days (between Inomniac and Nimrod) 2 years, 11 months, 19 days (between Nimrod and Warning) 3 years, 11 months, 18 days (between Warning and American Idiot) 4 years, 7 months, 24 days (between American Idiot and Breakdown) 3 years, 4 months, 9 days (between Breakdown and Uno) 0 years, 1 month, 20 days (between Uno and Dos) 0 years, 0 months, 28 days (between Dos and Tre) 3 years, 9 months and 26 days (between Tre and Revrad) Tre released on December 11, 2012 So Album 12 must be released on or before August 4th, 2017 or it will be the longest wait ever. May is coming to an end and nothing new announced. American Idiot took 11 months and 8 days to record and then was released 5 months 25 days after that. And they've been hinted at being in the studio since January 18th. It could take more or less time of course, but let's say they wrap up recording December 26th, 2016. and then start putting together the packaging, artwork, tour, etc for the next 5 months, 25 days. I just did some crazy googling and math, and if American Idiot is the recording standard ------- which it kind of should be --------------We’re looking at a June 23rd 2017 release date. So there you have it folks. American Idiot II will be released on June 23rd, 2017. Even then we still haven’t waited as long as we did for Breakdown. If it wasn’t for the Tubbies I’m certain our brains would have popped and we would have had breakdowns. Longest stretch from Album release to last single release: Nimrod: 1 year, 5 months, 9 days Insomniac: 10 months, 10 days Dookie: 1 year, 3 months, 4 days Warning: 1 year, 1 month Idiot: 1 year, 1 month, 5 days Breakdown: 10 months, 7 days Uno and Dos: Nothing Tre: 67 days Revolution Radio on 6/18/17 has been 7 months, 9 days 3/16/18 will be the lastest that the band could still be promoting Revolution Radio

I HATE videos that the band don't appear in, so I'll be really disappointed if they're not in FN, I'll probably love it if they are. Simple as that. 🙂 ETA: Reading the comment on album output, I realized that they are as prolific now as they were in their twenties: 1992-2001 (age twenties): 5 albums 2002-2011 (age thirties): 2 albums 2012-present (age forties): 4 albums so far and they are only halfway through their forties. At this rate, they could beat their output from the nineties.
