I always love gear interviews. He says he's using the bassman 800 now, I assume that must only be live because they just came out with that version over the summer, so I don't think he recorded with it. I'm kinda surprised that on the album he just used a DI, most of the time the engineer will combine a DI with a mic'd signal from the cab

Popular Post stories and songs
“It’s like that feeling of what’s obsolete,” he said, “like we’re turning into a pop-culture graveyard.” He paused. “Ooh, that was good — pop-culture graveyard! I’m going to say that so many times in the next few days.” "I think punk is a lot more than just anger, and rage. It’s like the weirdo that gets to find their voice for the first time. It could be someone that wants to have their own fanzine, and write about things they believe in, and despite the odds, do it anyway." "I’ve just become more focused; I’ve learned to stop when I’m blocked. Either you go and make the bigger mess right now, or that song doesn’t want to be written right now, your brain’s not ready for it. Sometimes I just gotta know when to back off something. The fact that I’m clearheaded — I just love making stuff. A song like “Revolution Radio,” it’s so subtle and it’s so nerdy. The song’s got the intro, and it’s got a pre-chorus that goes into the chorus, and I decided to not do that pre-chorus going into the chorus in the second verse. It makes the song unpredictable. For me, that’s like the greatest song I’ve ever done. It’s super nerdy, but that’s what I love about writing." Words can't possibly describe how much I like this particular human.

tomdsjames
I guess this belongs in random Green Day news...looks like UK iTunes have finally decided to split the tracks up on American Idiot so you can actually buy songs individually again instead of as 2-parters. This means it's the first time in about 10 years you can actually buy a studio version of BOBD instead of the Bullet in a Bible or cast version, it was previously only available as 'Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams'. Now it has a chance to join AI/WMUWSE in achieving Gold status (they oddly both reached Gold this year in the UK)

They probably payed attention to GD since the new album came out and realized how dumb the setup was.

It really spoke to me and made me realize that's probably why I love GD so much - so many of their songs deal with the struggle to survive and making it out in the end. It's something I relate to very much.
