According to GDC, everything except GDC-ing is highly uncool. The only chance the guy has left is joining this site.

5sos are copycat assholes  There's having a great level of admiration for a band, having them be your inspiration, and cover a few of their songs... And then there's the "I wanna be just like you, and famous" level, where they try to do the exact same thing because they think it will bring them the same level of fame. If anything, it made me have a stronger dislike to them than if they would just go find their own fame.

True, they went too far in copying. It will be pretty interesting to see if the formula will work in long term for 5Soos  and if it will work for Green Day themselves.

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson: Soundtrack of My Life

THE FIRST MUSIC I BOUGHT WITH MY OWN MONEY: Bullet in a Bible, Green Day

“The first album I bought would probably have been … although it was a live DVD, Green Day’s Bullet in a Bible tour. One of the Green Day albums, for sure. I used to be obsessed,” Tomlinson tells EW. “I was probably around 18 — that’s when I started getting into Green Day, I reckon. That’s quite old to buy my first album. I didn’t download them illegally, though!”

Though Bullet in a Bible-era Green Day is a far cry from Dookie-era Green Day, you’d be hard-pressed to find any influence of the East Bay, California-founded punk band in One Direction’s music. However, Tomlinson says that, as far as 1D is concerned, it was the performance aspect of Bullet that inspired him: “I just watched the DVD religiously. The show they put on was so incredible.”

Hyde Street Studios: The Tenderloin’s Place In Rock 'n' Roll History

So did Green Day’s second major label release, Insomniac; the band has made several appearances at Hyde Street Studios since recording it there in the mid-1990s.

“If 14-year-old me had known that I’d meet Green Day, he’d pass out,” says Jack Kertzman, a station manager and engineer

Not really news, but do you guys know what this is? It has a release date for December 4th, and it looks like some sort of American Idiot revamp that goes with Heart Like a Hand Grenade.

It just looks like they are combining American Idiot the CD and Heart Like a Hand Grenade in one package.

The Kickback Redux: The turn of the Millennium

While we cannot disremember rap’s influence in the 2000s, we certainly cannot forget other genres — specifically Green Day’s most popular album “American Idiot” which debuted in 2004. Under the classification of punk-rock and alternative, “American Idiot” provides 2015’s societal infatuation of Zedd and Katy Perry with a throwback into the rebellious beats and lyrics characteristic to the 2000s. Yes, rap and hip-hop made their presence known, but even this transition in genre is rebellious in itself. It is significant to reminisce on rock/metal/punk’s influence at the turn of the 21st century — an influence unfortunately suppressed 15 years later.

“American Idiot” marked the end of the band’s low-profile break from fame after poor reception of their 2000 album “Warning.” Green Day introduces its audience with a plot at the beginning of the rock opera: the story of Jesus of Suburbia, a man caught between love and rebellion. The chorus sings, “And there’s nothing wrong with me / This is how I’m supposed to be / In a land of make-believe / That don’t believe in me.” The plot persists throughout the album. In “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” Jesus conveys his loneliness against humanity in the chorus, “My shadow’s only one that walks beside me / My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating / Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me / Till then I walk alone.” His journey through each song in the album signifies an emotional attribute to the struggle against the century’s revolution, war and political turmoil.

“American Idiot” provides insight into national context at the turn of the century, both politically and musically. Its punk rock beats have caused head-banging across the nation, yet Billie Joe Armstrong finds time to simmer down in melodic tracks such as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

I remember listening to “American Idiot” — the very first album I owned — with my dad and sister, as we drove three hours to softball tournaments located in the middle of cornfields. He cranked the volume as we rocked the air guitar during “Holiday” and swayed to “Homecoming.”

“American Idiot” persists as a memorable tribute to the music of the 2000s. Its plot’s continuation through each song is humanizing, and the internal struggle between love, rebellion and loneliness carries with it a universal empathy.

5SOS Star Ashton Irwin On Why He Is A Green Day Fanboy

http://www.inquisitr.com/2577251/5sos-star-ashton-irwin-on-why-he-is-a-green-day-fanboy/

5 Seconds of Summer Cover Green Day's 'American Idiot' on Howard Stern

This take on "American Idiot" plays close to the song's original arrangement, with Clifford kicking off with vocal duties and adding in a bit of a Billy Joe Armstrong-esque snarl. Of course, 5 Seconds of Summer add in a bit of harmonizing (they are all four vocalists, after all) adding a bit of texture to the single.

Thanks for posting. The end was cool and also the riff-solo idea was surprising and nice. I didn't enjoy the rest of the arrangements or the song in general really... The guitar solo was all over the place ._.

Am I the only one that thinks they forgot about Dookie.

They remember Dookie when the very large royalty checks come floating in.

Seriously, they focused more on Dookie for the Rock Hall ceremonies.  No, I don't think they have forgotten it.   So you are wrong as usual.

My argument is perfectly valid.  It is not my fault you can't remember back to April.

Can I interest you in a sitcom script? I want to make it big on TV with my idea, "Nicky and Judi". :D
