The article is about Jakob but I found it interesting because at the end it states

"Green Day was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. Though the band have not confirmed any new music they will be releasing Heart Like A Hand Grenade, a documentary on the making of their 2004 album American Idiot in theatres on October 15th."

Strange because Rolling Stone were the same ones who claimed Billie or Rob confirmed they had five songs thus leading to a million other articles online guessing the album release etc. Huh.

I think it more means that they haven't confirmed they are releasing any new music.

Veteran Singer-Songwriter Jesse Malin Talks About How Music is His 'Medicine'

When Green Day performed at House of Blues in Cleveland earlier this year, the band recruited a long-time friend, singer-guitarist Jesse Malin, to open the show. He started things off with a 30-minute set that drew mostly from New York Before the War, one of two albums he’s released this year (the second album, Outsiders, just came out this month).

At that House of Blues show, Malin and his large band often sounded more like a classic rock act (think Springsteen) than a punk group, but they won the crowd over with his enthusiasm as songs such as “She Don’t Love Me Now,” which he described as a “dance number,” featured soulful vocals and some spirited, woozy horns. Malin has described the album as "metaphor for surviving in an ever-changing, rapidly desensitized world." Malin was the perfect opener. Like the Green Day guys, he’s been performing since he was a teen (a tween, really). And like the Green Day guys, he knows that even a punk rock band needs to have good songs.

“I’ve known them for years,” he says via phone from a rehearsal space on the lower East Side of Manhattan when asked about the Green Day connection. “I toured with them when I was in D Generation in the ‘90s. I recorded a track with them once called 'Depression Times.' It was a late night drunken jam session. To play with them at this sold out House of Blues show in front of 2,000 people, I was nervous. I don’t normally get nervous. I tour all the time. It was a special night.”

Pre-Order Larry Livermore Book

How To Ru(i)n A Record Label documents the author’s experiences from Gilman Street to Bialystok, Poland, as he built Lookout from the ground up, only to find himself losing control of the label a mere ten years later, and abruptly walking away from the multi-million dollar company when it was at its peak of success.

“It’s so rare to get to have an independent label that’s putting out bands that are in a scene, a place like Gilman Street, where we come from. They [Lookout] were putting out my favorite records at the time, whether it was Crimpshrine, Operation Ivy, [or] Isocracy . . ."  – Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day

"[Larry Livermore] created Lookout Records for all the right reasons." –Mike Dirnt, Green Day

The many spins on “Like A Rolling Stone,” from Bob Marley to Green Day

Drive-By Truckers/Green Day (2009)

Here are two fairly faithful “Like A Rolling Stone”s from modern rock bands popular enough and accomplished enough to do the song without too many questions about their credibility. But while Green Day’s version is nice and loud—and Billie Joe Armstrong’s vocals properly whiny—the band’s arena-filling approach doesn’t suit Dylan as well it does their own precision pop-punk. Drive-By Truckers easily win this battle of the bands, with a “Like A Rolling Stone” cover that has a warm, earthy sound, and traded-off vocals by Patterson Hood, Shonna Tucker, Jason Isbell, and Mike Cooley that keep the performance from becoming too repetitive. Grades: B+/C-

i don't want to start a topic for something that has no actual, reliable sources or anything but apparently green day is going to release an album within the next year and also start touring:

if i should start a topic, let me know.

We all know that something going on but this is the first time I've read about a new album's plan.

Should be interesting but I think could be better waiting for an nanouncment on GD official media

I think it's really unlikely that Jason would leak such a thing if the band themselves didn't say a word. Then again, I could be wrong.

I just don't want them to rush anything.

In 2012 Jason White said to random fan they're going to the studio before official announcement from the band :) I think it could be true, we will see.

Jason was touring with Joe Walsh, and that tour ended.  So, it is not impossible for them to be in the studio.

True, but different times: BJ was talking about that all the time at his Twitter and they even had played trilogy songs live in those secret gigs. Now they're quiet as fuck

I can't wait for a new record and tour tho :)

There's no sense in getting overly excited about this, but yeah, I believe there will be no announcement until they're done. Actually, it will earn them a lot of media coverage when they go foreverly with it. Anyway, I'm not musing about a new album until I can hold it in my hands :D
