10 Best Pop-Punk Songs of All Time

2. “Longview” - Green Day
One of the best songs off of one of the best rock albums of all time, “Longview” is a classic on every level. Although Green Day’s legacy has been somewhat tarnished by the last decade of their existence, let’s not forget that they were arguably the best punk band of the decade before that. Maybe if Green Day went back to writing songs about being bored and high, they’d be able to recapture their youth.

Interview: Studio Talk with Mixer Chris Lord-Alge

Walk into Lord-Alge’s studio, and you’ll spot Gibson guitars standing strong. He has a funny story about one of his prized Gibson acoustics and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. “In Green Day’s ‘21 Guns’ video, Billie Joe Armstrong is playing my Gibson acoustic,” Lord-Alge told Gibson.com. “It was a prototype Gibson made that was given to me, and he liked it so much that I gave it to him, and Gibson made a signature acoustic of it. I begged him to give me one, and he never did!” “I have a ’56 Custom in black, the Les Paul Jr. from Billie Joe Armstrong and the Limited Edition Gary Rossington Les Paul,” he added.

You’ve worked with so many major artists: Green Day, Halestorm, Shinedown, Seether, Muse, Stevie Nicks, Paramore. Do you have a favorite album you’ve mixed or era?

The times are forever changing. (Green Day’s) American Idiot was an amazing rock landmark.

CLA is going to hold on to American Idiot forever.

In fairness, the guy has worked on an insane amount of good music, he could name drop plenty of other albums or artists just as impressive as AI or Green Day. Most of them would be a lot more relevant too.

Was ‘Lost’ Green Day Documentary Ever Really Lost?

Maybe instead of doing all her research on here she should have tried going directly to the only person who isn't guessing

Nirvana Made History With ‘Nevermind,’ But They Aren’t Rock’s Best Trio Ever

6. Green Day

I really think the evolution of Green Day is fascinating, especially if you go back to their early days, even further back than Dookie, when they were ripping through 3-minute roller coasters like “Going to Pasalaqua.” Compare that to a song like “21 Guns.” The band definitely grew up, but in doing so, never lost the spunk they had when they started out. They were in a sense, the grandfathers of the pop punk revolution. And yeah, like anyone’s grandfather might be prone to do, sometimes they get a little drunk and surly in public, but we love ’em just the same. The fact that Green Day is still around and still popular some 20 years after they made it big is really nothing short of a miracle.

Interview: Teenage Bottlerocket on Wyoming punks, joining Fat Wreck Chords, and why there will never be another Green Day

Well, there’s no telling. In my opinion, I don’t think there’s ever going to another band like Green Day that comes out and explodes in some underground music scene. Obviously the internet is playing its role and I don’t think anything like that is going to be recreated. As far of what I can tell, I hear less and less electric guitars on the radio in general. So for the future, who knows? I know we’re really grateful for the amount of people who come to our shows, we realize a lot of people would like to be where we’re at and we’re really thankful for what we have.

Trending on Facebook and all anyone is talking about is waking Billie  Joe up now that September is over.

Sorry Jakob, but I really don't think that's why Green Day/Billie Joe has been trending on Facebook today (Oct. 1)...
