Thanks Tim - I didn't know they were finished their contract. Why did they check then to see if the trilogy was considered one album or three?

I don't know as each contract are negotiable and vary by artist to artist

The Lookouts' Larry Livermore Made Us a Mixtape Featuring Green Day, MC5, the Supremes, and More

Green Day, "No One Knows"
This is the best Green Day song that most people have never heard. I don't think they ever played it live (if they did, I wasn't there). I'm not sure what's better: Mike's hauntingly intricate bass intro, or 19-year-old Billie Joe Armstrong musing about mortality ("See my friends begin to age, a short countdown to their end"). This was from Kerplunk, Tré's first record with Green Day, and it marks the point at which they began to morph from garage and basement punks into one of the biggest bands in the world.

Brittney models for Mercy Vintage in Oakland

Our favorite vintage show is less than two weeks away and we’ve been stockpiling racks of finery in anticipation. We pulled together some of our favorite pieces making their way to our booth at A Current Affair and asked our dear friend, Britt Cade, to throw on her favorite jewels and shoes and model the wares for us. Super talented (and endlessly sweet) photographer, Chloe Aftel, captured the entire situation beautifully. Here’s a heads up to what’s coming down.

Photographer Danny Clinch Reveals the Stories Behind His Most Iconic Photos

Green Day, photographed in 1994

"This was taken in New Orleans -- I was shooting for Spin. Everywhere I turned in New Orleans, they had all these different cabs. Red cabs with big crowns painted on the side...it was just so different than New York City. I called the cab company, to see if we could shoot something in one of these really funky cabs, and of course it shows up and it's just like a New York cab. But it worked out. It was originally shot in black and white, and to see it in color -- with the bright orange taxi and all the different colored hair -- was pretty jarring for me."

This bracket challenge is fun, but how did Green Day end up as a #2 seed and NWA was #1??

They seemed to know Green Day or at least the song so that's pretty good. I love that they had Tool on there too. They are my second favorite band.

Green Day’s Mike Dirnt: Making Something From Nothing

Green Day is soon to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an awesome feat for the perennial punk adolescents from the Bay Area, who got their start on the punk scene at Berkeley’s legendary 924 Gilman club.

While the band’s mass appeal has them playing to sold-out arenas, bassist Mike Dirnt has still found time over the years to play dive-bar gigs in his beloved side punk project, the Frustrators.

Fender.com recently caught up with Dirnt to talk about his love for punk as part of our month-long tribute to the genre.

“For me punk rock music started with being 13 and skateboarding,” he said. “Most of the bands I liked were my friends’ bands. They were making music and trading demo tapes out of lunch boxes.

“I found great music was being created by people a lot like me. I can always relate to D.I.Y. culture — making something from nothing is what I love about music and individual expression.

“As a kid, I identified with the lyrics of the punk bands I was listening to, and those lyrics were probably the biggest contributor to many of the ethos I hold today.”

Oakland record store expands to SF
The back room of the Oakland store has also been converted into a small venue with a stage where local and touring acts perform a few times a week. The room was built and equipped for live shows with the help of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and his former Pinhead Gunpowder band mate Bill Schneider, who on May 4 will open Broken Guitars, a mid range guitar shop across the street from the Oakland 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. -

Don't know if anyone else has seen this but apparently Green Day are making a 'big announcement' at the Rock And Roll hall of fame.
