From The Big Cats facebook page:

Hey there friends, sad to say but the Big Cats have to step aside and miss our annual holiday show this year. A few weeks ago Jason found out that his two month long sore throat was in fact a bit of cancer growing on his esophagus. The good news is that it's localized and very much treatable. He gets started later this week. Thanks in advance for keeping him in your thoughts. We'll see ya in 2015.

That's awful, wishing him the best.

Oh my god! Poor Jason!! Sending him healing prayers and love. Needless to say fuck cancer. Surely this deserves its own topic?!

Such an awful news! Hope they caught it in the beginning so he gets a higher chance at fighting it. :(

Band of broken dreams

For a brief period, I was Watertown Middle School’s biggest Green Day fan. But 2004’s American Idiot came out while I was in seventh grade, and I couldn’t get into it. Its mock-political premise was different from the snotty pop-punk Green Day, the band I initially fell in love with. The inherent schmaltz of ubiquitous radio smash “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” didn’t sit well with my budding music identity.

I soon came to a tough realization: I could no longer relate to my favorite band. Something about my rejection of American Idiot inspired me to reassess my fandom, and I suddenly could no longer find the things I once enjoyed in their older material, too. I didn’t give it much thought then, but I had clearly outgrown a band, perhaps for the first time. Many years, and a few jarring shifts in taste later, I’m finally starting to wonder: do certain artists have a creative expiration date?

What do you think will happen from the picture on Instagram by Billie Joe? I think there's a new album.

I saw The Who last night and they mentioned Green Day. Said something like 'You might have heard Green Day play this song. If you didn't hear Green Day play it you may have heard Jack White attempt it' then they played A Quick One While He's Away. Really pleased they played it as now I've seen Green Day and The Who p[lay it live :)

Hah, that's awesome. It sounds like they preferred the Green Day version

The Green Day version is really freakin' good. It's great that the Who recognized that.

Yeah, it sounded as though they liked Green Days version from the way they mentioned it. They didn't mention anyone else covering it, just a couple of dvds you could see it on. I wish I had recorded it but I didn't have my camera ready.

Whoops, thought this was Random GD Thoughts. Who's idea was it to have two "Random" threads pinned next to each other?

There's actually a thread purely for talking about Billie's picture, you should check it out if you want to see what people think/discuss it :) :

Schott’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Debut

What could be more rock ‘n’ roll than a leather jacket? (OK, maybe a Fender guitar.)

Schott NYC makes leather jackets which were worn by Marlon Brando, The Ramones, and a long list of other stylish malcontents. Schott produced a Dec. 3 debut party for its first West Coast boutique, located at the Americana at Brand retail center in Glendale, Calif. In attendance were rockers Tre Cool from Green Day, his wife Sara Rose, Damien Fahey, a former MTV VJ, and Maejor, a music producer and performer. Yowza!
