12 songs that rip off other tunes

SONG: Green Day's Warning. SOUNDS A LOT LIKE: The Kinks' Picture Book. VERDICT: Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt must have been a big fan – the bassline is almost note-for-note.

You don't think the show's good? I've been meaning to start watching it and so far everyone I know has been saying that it's a good show.

It's kind of entertaining, but honestly, I think every "twist" is super obvious and unsurprising. And the characters are all obnoxious as fuck; I really can't say I like any of them! But at least they obviously have a cool set dresser

Three Pop Punk Bands to Be Very Thankful For

Green Day: So Green Day might be a bit more punk rock than pop punk, but they still deserve to be thanked for being so amazing. Imagine finding wild success on the punk scene in 1994. Green Day, with Billie Joe Armstrong on lead vocals, did just that with their first major label debut, Dookie. They had a string of albums after that before really finding mainstream popularity again with 2004’s American Idiot.

Billed as a rock opera, American Idiot made its debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Green Day wasn’t just a solid, punk rock/pop punk band – they were making political statements with their music and challenging the status quo as we knew it. With a handful of Grammy’s to their name, and a rock opera musical based on American Idiot, Green Day is one of the all-time best bands out there.

Wanting to follow in their footsteps, Good Charlotte emerged as a pop punk band in 1995. Joel Madden led the vocals and had his brother, Benji Madden, on bass. The band found major success in 2002 with their album, The Young and the Hopeless. Hit songs like “The Anthem” and “Hold On” kept them in the mainstream and catapulted their careers. In the liner notes on The Young and the Hopeless, Good Charlotte said a thank you to Green Day.

Green Day bass player Mike Dirnt put it more simply: “A Fender is the most comfortable guitar to play in rock ’n’ roll.”

Six Pack: Autumn makes for memorable songs

6) 'Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day — OK, it's not the happiest of songs, dealing with lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong's father's death, but not all great songs are about puppies and rainbows. I used to walk around the house singing this song a lot in 2007 and 2008 when the Cubs were in the National League Central Division race. I haven't had to sing it lately at all.

Artist Vs Audience: XFM's greatest ever onstage meltdowns

GREEN DAY DON'T LIKE TO BE RUSHED.

Things were not good for Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day in September 2012, when he checked into rehab. It followed an on stage meltdown at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, where the singer launched into an expletive-filled rant, complete with climactic guitar smashing when the band were told they only had one minute left on stage. The band later released a statement: "We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances." In other words, wake him up when September ends.

I love it when Green Day suddenly appears on my fb timeline and if the subtitle of the article is "How eco-friendly musicians are saving the Earth while rocking the globe" it's even better!

Ahh I remember my dog tag from them! I wonder if the design is any different now?

Watching Sunday Night Football tonight (Cowboys v. Giants) and the guitar riff from Hitchin' A Ride came on when they were doing a stat info-graphic between plays. So random.

I thought I had heard that as well, but I wasn't sure. Was it towards the end of the 1st half? When the Giants still had the lead?

In 2010 the musical based on Green Day songs, American Idiot, was struggling until Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong decided to perform in some shows, but overall the musical did not make a profit and closed in April 2011.

For those who may be confused about who 5 Seconds Of Summer are, they're like the community theater kid version of Green Day. For those who know and love 5 Seconds Of Summer, Green Day is a pop-punk band from the 1990s, who made some questionable choices and took great career risks in the aughts, you should look them up.

The Australian teenagers have openly admitted they became a band under the influence of Green Day and Blink-182, but their performance seemed like deja vu of those legends.
Everything from the ripped skinny jeans to Green Day lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong's patented spread-leg-guitar strumming stance gave homage to their predecessors. Guitarist Michael Clifford is even sporting a dyed Billy Joe spiky mess of hair.

New album news for 2014?

http://en.mediamass.net/people/green-day/new-album.html

According to a source, rumors of Green Day (Billie Joe Armstrong, ed) working in recording studio are true, with as many as eight songs having been put to tape. “It’s still in the early stages,” “They got security on the doors to ensure no-one hears a whisper,” a source said.

That's not true. It always says the story is false.

Think so. It was when they were showing a stat breakdown of Demarco Murray.
