Well, Bang Bang was first released on Facebook, so it lost about 24hrs worth of views right there that could have been seen on YouTube.

Oh, the views will easily surpass Bang Bang, no doubt.

I don't think the music video was though

Yeah, this one cuts deep. It's an amazing song on any level, and in the context of the last few years, it has to be catapulted to near the top of their catalogue with the deep meaning attached.

So, while on the surface any "greatest song ever" proclamations seems like a quantum leap...in this case it might be correct. I think it'll take me a decade or two to say with absolute certainty that it's the greatest ever...but you're on to something here.

I feel the same way. There have always been GD songs that cut really deep. I remember listening to Macy's Day Parade for the first time, I discovered it when International Superhits was released, I was about 14 - that was big. There were other songs that had a similar impact, they made me cry (No One Knows, Whatsername, 21 Guns, Brutal Love...), got me involved into politics (Holiday, American Idiot...) or changed the way I thought about myself and the world I live in (Welcome to Paradise, She, Minority...). All of those songs became some of my all-time-favourites and I could relate to them and still can in so many ways. And I always thought it would stay that way, I thought I could love new songs, but not the way I loved my "old" favourites. I thought that the songs that hit me as a teenager cut so deep that it would be impossible to feel that way as a grown-up again - like the first love that cuts really, really deep when you are young. But I was wrong.

I've never felt more emotional about a GD song than I feel right now about Still Breathing. Never ever. Brutal Love was pretty close, but not that big. Maybe it's because I had to go through some serious shit in the last 4,5 years, and maybe I had to go through this to be able to realize how wonderful and special that song is. And Green Day had to go through their shit to make a song like this, it wouldn't exist without the breakdown and everything that happend afterwards. Doesn't mean it was good that it happend... what I'm trying to say is that there's always something good in every bad thing that happens to you. And that's exactly what Still Breathing is about. I know for sure that Still Breathing is already one of my favourites - and maybe the one in the future. Saying this doesn't depreciate the other songs I love, it just shows what this band is capable of. It's amazing.

Oh and in case anyone complains that I'm going off topic... everything I wrote also applies to the new video :D

Really? I thought it was just the lyric video.

Edit: Okay you're right, I went and checked GDA. Still have no clue why they deleted those off facebook.

Add this to the fact that we're in this triumphant moment of return for this band, and how this song is directly reflective of and inspired by Billie's survival. This was the one song that he really used to acknowledge and celebrate it.

I agree. It's hard for me to label this song as a "favorite," because it's just different than that. It's not a song I like or love—it's a song that's important to me. It matters. It signifies that my favorite band in the world—these people who have been such a huge part of my life since I was young—is still here. It represents a very large sliver of my universe remaining intact when it could've fallen apart. Maybe that would sound silly to some people, but it's true. My life would be vastly different without Green Day in it. This song is something bigger than just a melody and some words pieced together. What's even more beautiful is that it brings people together to relate on a very emotional level about all the struggles we've overcome. Billie gave many people a powerful connection to music with that song, and that's special.

This is why I keep thinking that this video is something dedicated to us. Non-GD fans wouldn't understand the video.

I thought it was better than the Bang Bang video. Like others have said, it reminds me of the BOBD and Good Riddance music videos.

There's only so many long, gloomy looks into the camera that I can endure in a 4-minute video. Otherwise it's fine.

The part when the song says "and the truth that's in the message" and Billie Joe stands up on the word "truth" makes me shiver. So meaningful. (Did you notice that?)

I'm so happy we got to see this video, just in case the world as we know it ends today (or tomorrow, in my timezone).

No honestly, I think a spark of hope is what the world needs right now, no matter what. And the video offers that :)

Exactly what I needed during the difficult times I'm currently going through (breakups are fucking shit).

It's not exactly an amazing video, but it was nice to have it arrive at such a low time for me.

Green Day helping me through the times as always.
