I don't care
I appreciate and approve of Green Days whole anti-Trump agenda. I understand the anger and fear you all must feel. I just feel so confused and I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that people actually made a decision to vote for Trump. In Sweden we have a nationalist/lowkey racist party, the Swedish Democrats, and they have been growing for the last few years. The latest polls makes them the third largest party in Sweden, but I hope that their luck is changing now. What I'm trying to say is that there is a right wing wind blowing all over the world, as it seems, and I think we all need the anger and "pissed off"-ness that Green Day seems to have found. Never stop being angry, Americans! We all support you!

stories and songs
1 hour ago, DookieLukie said: I don't believe things like this incite change. They incite fear and anger. What Billie does for the environment and for young musicians...that's fucking punk. Trump is our president and wanting him to fail or refusing to work with him is going to fuck this country up. I do understand what you mean. Chanting about politics isn't as helpful as partnering with organizations to make positive change, as Green Day has in the past with folks like the NRDC. It would be really, really cool if Green Day teamed up with a human rights organization to possibly help protect at-risk rights under the Trump administration. But refusing to work with Trump's agenda as it has been laid out is not going to fuck the country up. Him appointing a man to become our chief strategist who thinks the darkness of Darth Vader and Satan is powerful (I wish I were joking but I'm not) will fuck us up big time. Congress refused to work with Obama for eight years because they liked throwing tantrums, and you know what? THAT fucked us up. But Trump is surrounded by his party in Congress, and I'm afraid no one will keep him under control. I think we can all agree that we want him to be a good president—a much better one than he is promising. No one wants him to fail at leading the country, but many want him to fail at accomplishing what we see as some pretty scary goals. Just because he is president-elect doesn't mean everyone needs to shut up and agree with him to make things more convenient for those who won't be impacted by his plans. So it's up to us, regular folks, to stand up for what we believe in. There are big ways and small ways people can show support for those who are afraid right now. Green Day did what they could last night using a huge platform with many, many eyes on them. By incorporating a chant that has been heard at recent protests is them showing those who are terrified right now that their voices are being heard, and that they're not alone. I wouldn't discredit how important that is.
grene cniht
Can anyone guess what he sings instead of "soldiers" in the first line of the bridge right after that glorious chant? Is it "I wanna be like the voters on the screen"?

Billie Hoe
You know, you can love what Green Day did or you can hate it. But people, even non-fans, who are not on the straight-white-male spectrum have been saying that their chant made them feel safe and that they're glad that Green Day at least are speaking up instead of normalizing this. So yeah, I'm pretty fucking happy with what they did.

There's no question Green Day have privilege and seeing them use some of it to make a stand, it made me feel good. Made me feel like someone was on my side and the sides of others who are scared and angry right now.

I don't care
I'm actually laughing at this one; "I saw a clip of their performance ... and lets just since its not pretty ... if I were them I would keep my mouth shut. They are going to need every fan they can dig up." "Nope. F them and their "music." I will never support anti-American commie idiots without a single complete brain to share among the lot of them. I'll stick to Mozart, thanks." This is hilarious.

Offal-fingered bananaloads. And they Lie. They play this fast pop hip-hop crap that has no melody no musical appeal other than they scream into the mikes and play one chord.
