Green Day to perform at the AMAs

@Shahd That means they're doing something right. We don't want people who have an issue with chanting "No KKK!" to like them.

I've seen a lot of hateful tweets and there's this video on YouTube that has many views and many likes and all the comments are full of hate for Green Day.

I just don't understand why can't people disagree with someone without insulting them. Like saying they suck and they're 40 something with eyeliners and I don't know what just because you disagree on politics?!

It's not all hate.

Yeah it's not all hate, but personally I've never seen this much of it. I guess this is what you get when you do something big , you get complements and criticism

Honestly, there have always been haters and there always will be and GD know that. What Green Day did last night is bound to spark controversy, which is GOOD. I expected nothing else to happen. Just blend them out. #hatersgonnahate

I love all the attention that this is getting. After watching the performance, I can't get the chant out of my head. Not that I mind... :D

I stopped reading social media comments these days because they always make me so angry. In fact, that's how angry they make me:

But I love that Green Day doesn't care and speaks out their opinion although it could mean losing fans... but honestly, fans who hate them for being left, anti-racist and anti-fascist, who needs them anyway? Those are the same people who complain that Green Day isn't punk enough, but now complain about the fact that they did something 100% punk onstage yesterday. :fool:

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read some of the comments, "a desperate try to stay relevant", seriously? Where have these people been...

Yeah, also stuff like "Your fans don't want this Billie... I am disappointed" - all I was thinking was yes, sure, that's totally going to stop him from saying what he believes in

@Marki. Just need to get this off my chest. I absolutely ADORE your profile pic. It's, like, the best thing ever and I keep catching myself thinking about it. Thank you for bringing such joy into my life! :runaround:

Yeah I guess this is what I'm going to do. I hate social media, I've always hated it and this isn't helping

Me too! I have a friend on twitter (not a GD or even rock fan) who saw one of my retweets of the chant and she told me it had lifted her mood significantly  And a ton of other people who have never previously tweeted about Green Day in any capacity have been excited about the whole thing.

They're doing the things that made me fall in love with them in the first place. This is exactly what I want.

I think it's funny that people are like "LOL, so they went on a popular award show and tried to make a statement? That's not punk." That's punk. That's very punk. Green Day is excellent at infiltrating pop culture spaces and making people feel hella uncomfortable on a very prominent platform. It's kinda awesome.

@JardyOfSuburbia Trump is literally appointing people to his cabinet who have shown support for the KKK and/or white nationalism in general. Green Day ain't reaching, folks.

I know, right? Of course not everyone has to agree with their views, but some of the comments were so bad they actually made me laugh.

Wow, I can't believe there's actually a backlash. It's just really funny! Like someone else, great promo for RevRad. And honestly, wouldn't we be disappointed if they said nothing? Especially with Billie expressing his disdain in just about every interview after the election? Green Day has never been about playing it safe and I'm glad they didn't last night.
