Second favourite son
I thought it was a wonderful performance, chant and all. I understand why some people may not have enjoyed the political element of the performance, but I don't see how anyone can say they didn't expect it. There are plenty of bands I like whose political views I agree with, and plenty where I disagree with their politics. Not agreeing with them politically doesn't mean I enjoy their music any less, it just means I don't engage as much with that specific part of their image. As it happens, I agree with Green day's political stance. That doesn't improve my opinion of their music much (would be hard!), but I do love their image and the fact that they'll get up on stage and do what they did last night - closest I've seen anyone come to proper punk in a long time! It was a great performance to watch, plus the way they worked the crowd was awesome. At the start/one minute in there were a few people dancing about but most were standing still. Post-guitar solo and chant the crowd were so engaged, Tré's fill was epic and the crowd knew it, and by the end they got a pretty big roar from the audience, especially considering where they were. Not only was it yet another awesome performance for me to watch as a fan, it was equally awesome to see the band winning over the crowd and bursting into the view of the wider population again so explosively. It's not like the are fans of Clinton, they just thought she was the better option. Let's face it anyone would have been a better option than Trump. It's kinda like going 'I'm sick of bread and cheese, VOTE FOR CARDBOARD!'

Mike clearly stated in a video interview (when asked about the election in november) that they were not voting FOR someone, but AGAINST someone. End Of The World
Just saw the performance. I think next time I'm not gonna sleep while GD are playing in shows like that. It's disappointing to see how a band with that energy and talent like GD was not nominated for any award. Fuck Justin Bieber.
Thatsername
Finally, I could watch it now and I'm sure everything has been said by now (couldn't read all of your comments though, 30 pages, holy moly!) - but WOW! I'm blown away. That was angry. I didn't realize until now how much I had missed angry Billie. We got cool-headed Billie and considerate Billie and political Billie all the way in the last couple of weeks and I loved it, but man - anger suits him, suits all of them so well! Get us some more angry Green Day! I swear if they will give a speech similar to this next year over here, it will make me wanna overthrow the government (it's election year ). AlissaGoesRAWR
My favorite comment about this so far: "I'm glad Trump will get rid of people like you!" ... um? Case in point?
Second favourite son
I like this AMAs review by the BBC! It's really cool to see the press focussing on Green day at such a massive event, much better than the half a line towards the end that they'd normally seem to get: 'Green Day lead anti-Trump comments at American Music Awards' http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/38048134/green-day-lead-anti-trump-comments-at-american-music-awards
Leni.
Man, after this performance I'm not sure if I can handle the show in January - it'll be my first GD gig ever. That energy will kill me!
