"I want to hold you like a gun"

Why would you want to hold someone like a gun? And how exactly would you hold someone like that?

Sorry but this song lacks coherence and content. Only loose string in an otherwise meticulously composed album.

May be a play on this quote

They should have put some pics of Jason White instead of some random girls.

To be fair the song is about a girl and not Jason :P

This video made the song way more enjoyable for me, and I'm really hoping there will be a lyric video for each song.. they have the means to do it, it would really help spread the album and I know fans would appreciate it

I think its one of the lesser songs on the album but I still enjoy it a lot. I don't personally understand the hate but then again, I also feel like the only person who doesn't like Say Goodbye. It's the only song on the album I'm always tempted to skip because I just don't care about it at all.

The line "I want to hold you like a gun" Is sung with such passion that I just love it, it has a lot more meaning when you dig deep and think about it. A simple but fantastic line

The best lyric video so far I think. Wasn't that big if a fan of the song at first but now I like it, it's fun and catchy.

Probably my favourite lyric video yet from RevRad, but still, I would much prefer to have a first listen with just the audio and create your own atmosphere in your head, watching the lyric video gives you an image to remember the song already and if the video is not VERY good the song may not stick with you.

Almost certainly RevRad. Why else did they use that car with the speakers on top? Besides, the ending of the Bang Bang video struck me as a cliffhanger. I think RevRad will somehow connect to Bang Bang.

They're posing in front of the car on the back of the album

I really love Youngblood. Haven't heard the rest of the album yet because.. well I guess the delivery of my disk got delayed or something.

Listening to Youngblood and reading the lyrics kind of made me understand how this song is a "love song". My interpretation of the song is that it could resemble how Billie and Adrienne met right up to the moment she moved to Oakland to be with him. But I guess the final sentence "Fuck you, I'm from Oakland" could also be interpreted like she's like the bandaid to his insecurities, as he states that he is broken but her love kind of fixes him or something like that.

Anyway, I really like the song and it's simplicity. Can't wait to hear the rest.

I also laughed when he told Howard Stern he is superstitious because "I swear to God and I'm not even superstitious".

:lol: And I thought that was the only decent line in the song :lol:

Great track; much rather hear a love song to Adrienne than a self-destructive verse about the "Lady Cobra"...

I knew it wasn't "war strucken young blood".    That's it, I'm finding a Green Day fan page that can decipher lyrics more gooder! :) (but kudos on that supersticious part, I THINK you got that one right somehow)

But then you have "I feel like a cello" that are actual lyrics!

Hey now...what he had with the cobra was beautiful.

"Cuddle up with me real tight
Talk to me by candlelight
Do you wanna play a game of Twister
Like a dirty old man with a babysitter?"

Hell, one of the blonde tattooed ladies in this video looks a lot like Lady Cobra, maybe it's a homage to her too :P

If the song was more centered around the "I want to hold you like a gun" melody, and didn't repeat Youngblood over and over again, I would probably enjoy it.

The song is called "Too Dumb to Die" after all.

You never feel like a cello?   I felt like a cello most of today.

Put his finger on the trigger and bang?

But seriously, what @pucky said.  When you're holding a gun for the first few times it's a pretty unique feeling.  You have a lot of respect for something which you know is very powerful.  You treat it with care, yet also feel empowered by it.

I need to hold a gun asap

Sorry but this makes absolutely no sense to me. Billie Joe Armstrong, absolute hater of guns who wants to melt them all down would respect and flaunt a gun and feel empowered by it??!! He implicitly said in the clip I posted on the previous page that he is terrified of guns, hates them and thinks they should all be destroyed.

Do you have to take everything literally? He's using it as a metaphor/referencing what a gun can represent, whether he likes real life guns has no bearing on it.

Same with "Swear to God and I'm not even superstitious". It might be amusing to hear him say he's superstitious in an interview right after that but whether he's really superstitious isn't actually relevant to the lyric, that part is just there to cheekily imply that swearing to God is a superstition.

The guy hates guns so I really don't get why he chooses a really crap gun metaphor in a love song as what it could represent for someone who isn't terrified of them. It's not like the English language is that limited.
