That was fun. I think I'm allowed to say that Green Day played 4-5 songs for the fans in between takes. The filming was cool but those songs were the best bits. Billie threw lots of guitar picks with questions like: 'What's my favourite colour?' 'What number is on my mind right now?' 'What is my dog's name?' 'Who has the most spikes in their hair?' He didn't actually wait for anyone to answer. He just threw them at the first people he saw 😂 He also announced 'oof, my back' twice. Mike kept telling us we were killing it. The first time they played a song just for fun, Tre refused to play more when Billie asked because he didn't want to get sweaty. The barrier was mostly filled with hired actors but some fans got onto it in the centre and I got onto it past Mike, towards the end with some of the lovely ladies I met in the queue. There's such a small gap between the barrier and stage at the Palladium that I felt almost as close as I did when I was technically closer at stadiums. I can't believe I was still jumping at the end considering the jet lagged state I'm in 😂 If I remember more that I can share I will, but I need to sleep now.20 points

When Billie played that bit of Corvette Summer there was a collective gasp and that little shit knew exactly what he'd done when it didn't continue 😂 I have to admit I didn't recognise Pollyanna. I don't think I've even listened to it in full. #FakeFan 😤 I could tell I was in the company of fellow ADHDers because Billie kept playing random chords and Tre tapped away at his drums whenever there was a lull 😂 Now I've had some sleep I can't believe that was all an actual thing I experienced. Green Day were probably onstage for a maximum of 3 of the 12 hours we were all there - there was a lot of waiting around and we had to leave to eat then go back in - but it was a unique and unforgettable experience for sure. The local fans were so nice 🥰 The lady next to me had never seen Green Day and said she was a reasonably casual fan, but after the first song she was like, 'this is the best day ever!' Pretty sure it's OK to comment on random impromptu bits of songs because they didn't have anything to do with the film... it says we can't post 'material in connection with the Picture,' not the event itself.10 points

On this day 8 years ago (28 March 2017), Green Day played the State Farm Center in Champaign, IL on the Revolution Radio Tour. You know you're about to get an essay. It was my mum's birthday, so I'd bought her a VIP ticket. I had a peasant ticket so I went in later and managed to get a spot behind her, but the VIP next to her randomly said she was going to find her son, smiled and ushered me into her spot beside my mum. The venue staff member in front of us (Scott, I think) was lovely, albeit baffled and amused by the weirdos who flew from England just to see Green Day in Champaign. Against Me are one of my favourite bands so seeing them open for Green Day was incredible. I wasn't going crazy or anything when Billie asked for someone to Know Your Enemy, just holding up one hand, but he picked me. Scott smiled like a proud dad as he helped Arturo (one of Green Day's crew) haul me out. I promptly went the wrong way and fell over. Billie was like, 'YO!' I'd never experienced stage fright as a kid, but when I turned and saw 16,000 faces staring at me it was TERRIFYING. Billie was beaming and beckoning. I ran down the catwalk grinning like a creature from a horror movie despite the fear, and Billie gave me a warm, genuine hug that made me feel better. I was still kind of frozen, so he kept one hand on my back and the other on my hand holding the mic until I sang the 'gimme gimme revolution' part and the pyros went off. That was pretty cool. The photo above was taken just after that. I was terrified yet again when it was time to stage dive, but it was actually just fun, not scary at all. I made that collage back then. Sadly there's only that one professional photo of me onstage, but I look hideous in every fan photo and video, so maybe it's for the best 😂 People congratulated and high-fived me when I landed. Later, Billie picked one of my sweetest Green Day friends to play guitar for Knowledge. A guy who'd bought me a beer yelled 'that sure beats what you did' and I was just screaming, 'THAT'S MY FRIEND CAITLIN! She's amazing!' He was like, 'you actually know her?! No way!' On the way out, people kept excitedly running up to me and I thought they were going to ask what it was like in general, but no... they all asked what Billie smelled like. That was the last thing on my mind 😂 But the answer was pine. I saw Scott again and he hugged and congratulated me. Everyone was so nice. The next day I was watching videos in a stranger's tent in the snow in Wisconsin and trying not to cry. Good times. Some other photos: 12 years ago (28 March 2013), Green Day played the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL on the 99 Revolutions Tour. It was the first rescheduled arena show after Billie went to rehab and also the first time Bohemian Rhapsody was played before the show. I went to a few shows in the US in 2013, starting with this one. I went so insane when Stray Heart started that it made Billie laugh. Hearing that was obviously a highlight, but Stay the Night, X-Kid and Brutal Love were highlights too. If you want to watch a random video of X-Kid, this is a good one. Felt like my heart shattered when Billie's voice cracked because it was such an emotional performance. 27 years ago (28 March 1998), Green Day were on Recovery TV in Melbourne, Australia – that time when they ran off from the interview, snatched the house instruments to play The Grouch, and got thrown out afterwards. More pics: They also played the ANU Bar & Refectory in Canberra, Australia. 33 years ago (28 March 1992), Green Day played 924 Gilman Street.8 points

For me, it has to be 21 Century Breakdown. The 21st Century Breakdown World Tour is Green Day's absolute peak in my opinion, and I love the entire era's look so much. (Also a lot of nostalgia for that era so I'm completely biased)6 points

On this day 12 years ago (31 March 2013), Green Day played the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA on the 99 Revolutions Tour. Well, this was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to and it also gave me one of my best Green Day stories. I went to a few American shows on the 99 Revolutions Tour – Rosemont, this one and Philly. A girl sang Longview and when it was time for her to stage dive, Billie gestured for the crowd to put their hands up to catch her, but noticed that I was in the firing line and told me to cover my face. The venue security pulled my hands away and told me to put them up. Should have done what Billie said. The girl jumped awkwardly and landed boots-down on my face. There was blood everywhere, my glasses were broken, and security were fussing around me with ice and water. At first I thought I was fine and the staff were overreacting. Billie and I exchanged thumbs-up and the band started Basket Case. The next thing I knew, I thought I was in my bed at home, dreaming about seeing Green Day in Pittsburgh. I woke up in the first aid area with blood still gushing from my nose. A paramedic asked how I felt. I said I was disappointed I’d lost my barrier spot and asked if I could go back into the pit. She laughed and said that was what the last person said, but no, I was not going anywhere. I watched the rest of the show from the first aid box in a daze. Once the show ended, Eddie (the band’s head of security at the time and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met) approached me with something and said, ‘Mike wanted me to give you this.’ It was the jacket he’d been wearing for the last few shows. Tre had also passed on a drumstick. I exclaimed, ‘really?!’ Eddie laughed and replied, ‘yes, really.’ I thanked Mike for the jacket on Instagram later and he replied, ‘you gals looked like you were having so much fun! Glad they got you my jacket! XX’ Everyone has always said they’re sorry I got knocked out but there’s no need to be. It was hilarious! I might have been gutted if the concussion had stopped me going to the next show, but I didn’t even consider it – the resilience of an 18 year-old determined to see their favourite band is quite something 😂 I even hammered the glasses back into shape and wore them for another year. The scar lasted a while but it’s gone now. 23 years ago (31 March 2002), Green Day played the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. 27 years ago (31 March 1998), Green Day played a second night at the UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney, Australia on the Nimrod Tour.6 points

Oh yes please. And even another Bullet in a Bible maybe. And this time uncut thank you very much. Having been there, although made up being able to relive Milton Keynes, tad disappointed all the bits they left out. Still always get goosebumps every time I watch it. So lucky, lucky, lucky. Truly privileged blessed, and humbled, to see GD live through 4 decades. Green Day I love you so much.6 points

So, for the last half year or so I've been struggling with kinda poor mental health, some days better, some worse, but all in all not great. Thus, when I got to visit San Francisco (and Oakland/Berkeley) recently as part of my job, I was delighted. I did a mini GD-related tour of the bay area and it cheered me up tremendously and also made me grateful for, despite everything, having been able to do have done this. I often felt like a small kid truth be told haha very nerdy I know but, especially being from Europe, it was really cool Chinatown in San Francisco Ashby/Longview house in Berkeley No explanation needed "Jesus filling out paperwork now, at the facility on East 12th Street" - (view from BART train, Oakland near Fruitvale St) Also rode past the warehouse on 7th street near West Oakland Station (Welcome To Paradise), no pic of that though, I was too slow. Oakland's Fox Theatre and The Warfield in San Francisco (guys give us the full concert man, please, I'm begging ya) this part of San Fran (Mission District) has changed a lot but it's where the scene of the guys walking in When I Come Around was filmed (at night), I also passed through Powell station, also seen in that video. It's probably my favourite Green Day music video so seeing the filming locations was very cool and a few other bits and bobs Btw there's been much talk about San Francisco's social problems at the moment and they are definitely noticeable right in the city centre (the infamous Tenderloin district and adjacent areas), but it is still a beautiful and vibrant city in my view, with a lot to offer, not least great public transport for US standards, interesting topography and a lot of variety in terms of the different neighbourhoods, plus great walkability. Needless to say I enjoyed my stay there and would love to visit again at some point.6 points

This is really difficult, so so many amazing and magician eras to choose from over past 30+ years. But I'll go for American Idiot era tour. The set, the stage, the music of course. Billie Joe's crown, his running up and down the stage, conducting the audience like a magician. Being totally hypnotized. As one with 50,000 adoring fans and the band. Heaven. OMG.5 points

The band made the announcement via instagram and deleted it 30 minutes later Mike Dirnt admitted, "I’ve always loved a good fiddle solo. I think it’s time for a little twang in our sound." Tre Cool said, "The rhythm of the banjo is so much more laid-back than the drums. It’s like we’re finally slowing down and embracing a new side of life." The band also teased their upcoming album. The first single, "Short Glance (No More Longview)," promises to be a blend of traditional country with no hints of their punk roots. Billie Joe said, "We’ll always remember our roots, but it’s time for a change. To all our die-hard punk fans out there – now we will no longer wear leather jackets, but a plaid shirt, and we’ll be wearing boots, not Converse. Thanks for the memories." april fools4 points

This is cool to see, especially a year later. I always thought this song would be a hit. The amount of work that goes into getting anything to succeed at radio is crazy. I worked down the hall from the head of radio promotion at a rock label. He was on the phone all day with radio programmers trying to convince them to playing our artists singles. It's all about momentum. If you can manage a few weeks of radio growth, things start getting easier. The stations that didn't want the song suddenly change their minds. Sometimes it was simple and other times he was more or less begging stations to play songs. He also had his own gold record for Dookie, which was incredible4 points

On this day 8 years ago (30 March 2017), Green Day played the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI on the Revolution Radio Tour. Someone gave that jacket to Billie. He had his own made afterwards and wore it for Still Breathing and Forever Now for the rest of the tour. This was one of my favourite shows ever. I actually still have a clear memory of Forever Now and how I had both arms in the air, screaming at the top of my lungs and jumping until I couldn't breathe. Made some good memories at those arenas in the middle of nowhere. Movie is wrapped https://www.instagram.com/p/DHyoOydJBGm/?igsh=bnllb2x6MHVyYThj So now post production followed by however they manage to distribute it. Hopefully we’ll get release information by the end of the year. I was thinking about road stories they could use. Because we know this is based on the band’s own exploits touring during the early years, what are some of the road stories we know about that could potentially make it into the film? — The most well know story of course is Sleepy the disembodied head in a jar they had to sleep near. — That time their van got broken into in New Orleans and their clothes and road cash was all stolen. Fans donated clothes and cash for them to get to the next town. — The IG gdtourvan1990 has loads of stories, pretty sure that account was run by Kiffmeyer https://www.instagram.com/gdtourvan1990?igsh=MTY0b2ZnN2U0cTBtOA== Anyone know any others?4 points

Every song turned into a sing-along, even though it was clear that half the room only bought Dookie in the past month.' — Robert, fan 35 years ago (29 March 1990), Green Day played Marsugi's in San Jose, CA. 😂 No, it was a fresh shower gel kind of smell. I’m obviously biased: I became a fan toward the end of the AI Tour. The 21CB era was the first one I actively followed (including here on the forum – I signed up in 2008). The hype in 2008/2009 was immense, and this forum played a big role in that. The sound, the voice, the songs, the album – 2009/2010 was the peak of their creative output, truly on top of their game. I remember losing it when I first heard the 21CB song demo in 2008 – I had it on repeat for days! When I think about the live concerts in 2009 and the summer of 2010 that I had the privilege to witness, it brings tears to my eyes because those are such beautiful memories, and I’ll always be grateful for them.4 points

Yeah super tough one. For the music I'd say Nimrod tour, this was a band that had truly found its sound and wasn't afraid to hide it any longer. The Nimrod era kinda went to the core of Green Day's sound, inherently punk but not afraid to push boundaries and experiment. And also most of all, it was about having a damn good time while you're at it. Admittedly though, live shows throughout the Trilogy tour (and towards the end of the 21CB tour) were quite fun and varied too. Aesthetically speaking, In hindsight, I actually think the RevRad tour had really cool stage production and visual design, kinda harking back to the 90s whilst keeping some of the quirks of post AI tours. But overall, my favourite is the American Idiot era and tour. I'm super biased, as AI is my favourite album, but what I loved about that tour and era was the "yeah, let's kinda take on the world and be the biggest band on earth for a while, cuz why not" vibe, reflected in everything from interviews, live performances, to stage design, outfits, merch etc. It's brash, pretty audacious and yet, it worked. BIAB portrays a band at the top of their game, they seemingly have the crowd and by extension the world in the palm of their hand, and they know it. And whilst I do like the 21CB era a lot too, I feel like AI era Green Day was particularly striking in how markedly different it was to preceding eras, whilst still keeping some of the 90s vibe. It saw them fully embrace concerts as a visual and auditory performance, well choreographed and polished from start to finish. But at the same time, most songs from Dookie/Insomniac/Nimrod were still played as a trio, with Jason White, Jason Freese or Ronnie Blake etc. only joining in for the new stuff. I kinda liked that. It kept part of their rawness. Live performances of those songs have since become more polished, since having two guitars adds a fuller, more studio like sound to the songs. That is also cool, but again loses a bit of the original energy and drive. The stage production too was certainly bombastic, but it was actually kept remarkably simple, with a black and red colour scheme, fitting Billie's stage and photoshoot outfits, with physical stage curtains being used most of the time. On the other hand, 21CB went all in with all kinds of visual FX, video screens and different colour schemes. More varied, less coherent. Certainly very cool, but then again, I feel less is sometimes more.4 points

Preach. I also liked how at the start of the era he was wearing a sheriff's badge for a while lol. Peak era for Billie hotness! I think for album art and merch Warning and Nimrod are very cool. And I'm a sucker for the brightly coloured crazy Trilogy artwork. Saviors is cool too, love the pink and black and the One Eyed Bastard guy4 points

So jealous of everyone who got to be an extra! What a cool experience! That being said, I have no idea why I can't get excited for this movie. I saw so much news about it on Insta and I just didn't care Maybe when we get closer to its release I'll care, maybe I'm just thinking about Ordinary World and how mid that was. I cannot imagine acting all hyped up while listening the KYE for the third time in a row But I'm guessing the vibe there, in a small venue and with the band playing live might have kept people hyped throughout the 5 takes. My first thought after knowing they were using KYE for the movie was that maybe they are doing the "bringing someone on stage" bit for the movie, but since it's not mentioned in the setlist I guess maybe not (or maybe that is the one secret people who were there decided to keep). Very nice that they played a small set and a few snippets for the benefit of the fans there. Hope Tre didn't get too sweaty in the process4 points

I saw that setlist and was laughing, because, what's one of the number one songs people say they never want to see live again? So they play it a dozen times. 😄 Of course, I'm guessing it's relevant to the movie, like the kids "knowing their enemy."4 points
