  3. My awesome partner just bought me this "Smells Like Billie Joe Armstrong" candle! It smells like vanilla cream. I wonder if that's what Billie actually smells like. My partner so gets me. 🤣

  4. top song for me was Going to Pasalaqcua followed by Armitage Shanks, then Longview, then Chump (which was a surprise to me) and then to round out my top 5, Suffocate

  5. I was also top 0.005% with 18,154 minutes. What's kinda crazy about that is, I didn't listen to much GD this year before I saw them in Atlanta on August 28. They were so great it made me want to revisit their whole catalog, so I have been listening to pretty much nothing but them and their side projects while at work. Top 5 songs: 1)Last Night on Earth, 2)Oh Love, 3)Brutal Love, 4)Dilemma, 5)Still Breathing. Obviously they were my number one. The Longshot ended up at number 4.

  6. 0.0005% is crazy 😯 You've got to be getting towards number 1 listener. Also I wouldn't believe that Reddit thread. As per that song from Rent, 200,000+ minutes would literally be half of the year. So unless they've got saviors on ten hours a day, every single day, that's BS.

  7. On this day 4 years ago (4 December 2020), we were enlightened by Money Money 2020 Part II. I'm sure The Network tried to mind control me but I'm too tired for that shit. 20 years ago (4 December 2004), Green Day played in Monterrey, Mexico on the American Idiot Tour. 24 years ago (4 December 2000), Green Day played the Colosseum in Munich, Germany on the Warning Tour. 27 years ago (4 December 1997), Green Day played the Event Center Arena in San Jose, CA on the Nimrod Tour. 30 years ago (4 December 1994), Green Day played the UNH Fieldhouse in Durham, NH on the Dookie Tour.

  8. What "holy grail" material do we have left in store? --- I'm guessing either of three given a B-side album: compilation of released b-sides, releasing songs they've already reworked, or they're completely starting from scratch from now on

  12. Cigarettes and Valentines album was neither lost nor stolen. It consisted of 16 tracks. Then they recorded 2-3 tracks which seemed more fresh and exciting, so rather than waiting for like 4 more years to release these new & exciting tracks within another album, they scrapped the Cigarettes and Valentines album but reworked the better parts of it during the new sessions and they kept on recording approximately 65 tracks around this 1 year fruitful period. It is all explained in Mike's interview with Steve Rosen in early 2004. So nothing is lost or stolen. (pls check the interview on youtube).

  13. On this day 24 years ago (2 December 2000), Green Day played in Florence, Italy on the Warning Tour. 27 years ago (2 December 1997), Green Day played DV8 in Seattle, WA on the Nimrod Tour. "I used to teach at John Swett High in Crockett, California. And I had this kid in class who became a rock star. I remember Billie Joe well. He used to sit in my math class on the third floor of the ancient, run down brick building in the back of the room right next to the window. He had a perfect view of 'Tight Wad Hill.' I don't remember if he was a good student ... if he did his homework or got good grades. But I do remember him as a good person, he got along with just about everyone (except, perhaps, the vice principal) and he was pretty cool, mature for his age. My biggest disappointment is that he once invited me to come and see his band, Sweet Children. I didn't go. I don't remember why. Now, with Green Day's success, I'd kill to have seen that band. Anyway the first time I saw Green Day is when they played an arena in Seattle in 1995. Someone threw a shoe at Billie Joe and he got pissed off and cut the set short. I liked the Nimrod tour a lot more. My wife and I saw Green Day play a small club on Dec. 2, 1997 and the show kicked ass. Green Day just wasn't made to play arena shows. Anyway, I'm a big fan. I wear my Green Day shirt to school every now and again. And I've got a Green Day poster up on the wall. It's cool to tell my students that Billie Joe was once one of my students. A few of them don't believe me, oh well. Hey, Billie Joe. I bet none of your other teachers have asked for a back stage pass. Next time you come to Seattle, what do you say? I'd like to party with a rock star and a former student!" — John Goar 29 years ago (2 December 1995), Green Day played the Auditorium in West Palm Beach, FL on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (2 December 1994), Green Day played the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on the Dookie Tour. 14. On this day last year (1 December 2023), Green Day recorded their set for Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. And as we know, the "MAGA agenda" lyric change that Billie has been doing for years upset a lot of conservative viewers. More photos: When I made the list of all the shows for this project, the internet told me the 2019 Dick Clark thing was recorded on the 1st of December too, but apparently it was the 23rd of November. I'll add it to that post. 20 years ago (1 December 2004), Green Day played American Idiot at the VH1 Big in '04 Awards. More photos: 24 years ago (1 December 2000), Green Day played the Palaghiaccio di Marino in Rome, Italy on the Warning Tour. 29 years ago (1 December 1995), Green Day played the Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, FL on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (1 December 1994), Green Day played the Convention Hall and Civic Center in Philadelphia, PA on the Dookie Tour.

  18. Or they are really just passing on something they heard 🤷‍♀️ I mean, even I, a fervent Green Day fan back in 2009, didn't remember the whole Hillside Dance debacle and that suspected name. So for a troll to dig up that very obscure piece of trivia 15 years later seems unlikely.... they either really are a long time observer of the fandom and with a really good memory (and then why troll? and also, starting a harmless rumor online is hardly trolling), or they really heard this rumor going around. Doesn't mean the rumor itself has to be real though. My hope for the end of the Saviors tour is that they release a full live show, or a compilation from several shows mounting up to a full setlist - I choose to believe this is what the rumor they heard was about

  21. Copied comments the band made within aa general article I posted updating the Download festival in case you missed it:- Green Day will be hoping the festival gives fans the chance to check out some new music, as they previously told of their despair at people relying on TikTok algorithms to be introduced to other artists. Mike Dirnt told The Sun newspaper: “Social media is great for kids but if you’re finding your music via algorithms then that’s just lazy. “I like to organically find new things. All I can say is just clear your search history to find new [stuff].” Billie Joe Armstrong added: “I was told that 'Brain Stew' was a sudden popular thing on TikTok with a lot of hip-hop kids dancing to it. And that’s cool. “But I don’t have the patience to use it. It’s just like, eurgh. It’s cool for other people but we’re old- school man.” And the trio worry such algorithms are fuelling the rise of misinformation online. Billie Joe said: "With all the algorithms that people live on, there’s so much false information, and there’s people diagnosing themselves with Asperger’s off TikTok. That’s absurd to me."

  24. Guys! Green Day is nominated for best Rock Grammy for 2025! The Grammys are currently announcing 2025 nominees and Haley Williams just announced best Rock Nominees. Saviors is up for the Grammy!! Congrats boys!!! AHHHH Billie is on the nomination broadcast!!! He announced record and album of the year! I am losing my shit at work!!! I didn't know he was appearing, so it was a total surprise! Sadly, Green Day did not make the cut for these categories

  25. “People know where Green Day stands,” says Armstrong. “It's in our songs. It's the way that we've talked about things ever since the beginning. Even before that, we were writing about politics. You know, we have a firm stance of anti-racism [and] anti-homophobia. I'm a middle aged man now. We brought out [nonprofit group] HeadCount, and it was by far the biggest turnout for people registering to vote that they've ever had on a tour. For Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish to come out and say something, I'd rather be an ally of that than to be trying to jump on that. But I agree with them.” I wasn’t totally sure why Billie wasn’t directly addressing politics as much at shows anymore or why the band didn’t directly address the lead up to the election, but I really love and appreciate the logic of just getting fans registered to vote and supporting the younger artists who (tried) to mobilize their fanbases.
