Missed a couple of days because it was my birthday and I was recovering from the ordeal of being mind-controlled by The Network, so 23 November 2024 On this day 5 years ago (23 November 2019), Green Day recorded their set for the 2019 Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. Turns out, they got arrested in Irun, at the French-Spanish border. Shortly after the show started, Billie's guitar broke. A guy from the audience, who also played in a band, lent his guitar to Billie. Despite the arrest jokes, the concert was very good. They were quite good, but no one imagined they would go so far." — Deia 34 years ago (24 November 1990), Green Day played U-Gene's Bar in Pico Rivera, CA. ------------ 25 November 2024 On this day 11 years ago (25 November 2013), Foreverly was released. 27 years ago (25 November 1997), Green Day played The Rave in Milwaukee, WI on the Nimrod Tour. "Last night was a GREAT show! Before the show started they had Billie's kid Joey on the stage with a mini guitar for a photoshoot! I went to the show where Billie got arrested for mooning the audience! He came back with the full intention to fuck shit up. He promised the crowd the nudity of at least one member before the show ended. Billie had the crowd chanting The Beautiful People. Then ever so popular Paper Lanterns came on, Billie told everyone to throw their clothes up on stage. He put them all on and said, 'I'll do the oposite of last time. But at the end of the show it will be one long strip show!' Tre went flying by with his pants down on one of those speaker carriers! After F.O.D. they proceeded to demolish the stage, and that's when Billie came forward to sing Good Riddance. After the show I gotta meet Tre. He said I and brother were cute! Then Mike signed a picture my brother drew of them. He said that he liked my pants and that I looked good! Overall it was the best night of my life!" — Lindsay 29 years ago (25 November 1995), Green Day played the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (25 November 1994), Green Day played the Cobo Arena in Detroit, MI on the Dookie Tour. 33 years ago (25 November 1991), Green Day played Gaztetxe in Andoain, Spain. 35 years ago (25 November 1989), Green Day played at Swain's House in Benicia, CA. "It was at Swain's house. Susan made spaghetti. There was booze. It had rained a while bunch the days before and the driveway was dirt. It was muddy. Swain's band, The Happy Hour, didn't end up playing. We had a good time. Everyone was there. If I remember right, this would have been around the time Fifteen was slapping together their first record. Jack and Jeff rehearsed in Swain's garage. Writing songs, etc. My memory is shot, buddy. I remember we were a bit nervous to play which is why we didn't. I guess because Green Day was playing. I was loaded. 15 would have played all of the Swain stuff. I barely remember. I'm pretty certain this was Green Day before Tre. Yeah. So, early stuff, and Billie always did a few love songs for the 15 yr old girls." — Keith Alford They also played at 924 Gilman Street that day.5 points

Happy belated birthday! And it seems like there haven been a few eventful shows on November 24th's.3 points

Billie’s vocal delivery on Nothing Ever Happens reminds me a lot of Turn Me Loose from Love Is For Losers which is great because that song is one of the best things he’s ever done imho.2 points

Nothing Ever Happens is easily the best song on this record imo1 point

So the Show is not gonna happen? I remember Linkin Park had a list of songs which they were allowed to play and they‘re not as political as Green Day, maybe this is why the show isn‘t going to happen?1 point

Sometimes, a black and white photo can be more dramatic/artistic. Love them.1 point

In retrospect, the whole announcement seems like a big scam. But why did all the green day social media accounts fall for it? I'm pretty sure that there will definitely not be a concert in macau in February or March 2025.1 point

If I ran into Billie Joe today and had time to ask him a single question, that question would be: how did you come to the decision not to include Black Eyeliner in Nimrod? It might be on my top 5 Green Day songs. I just don't get it how it didn't make it to the album. Don't get me wrong, I love Church on Sunday so I'm glad things happened the way they did so that we could get both songs... but just why? 😂 (I'll be back with more random thoughts about this song in a page or two, I don't think I'll get over it anytime soon).1 point

Not sure this is really the right place for this, but an interesting article about the sound set up, from the way the crew behave and are treated if nothing else. https://www.tpimagazine.com/the-saviors-tour-eighth-day-sound-supports-green-days-return-to-the-circuit/1 point

It warms my heart to see how big of a role Homecoming is for the entire process around the album and how it ends up "forming" the album You get a feeling that the album is really about that song, in many ways. The new documentary is fun! I think they used a little too much footage from HLAHG and BIAB, and too little from the Otis interview/other footages from the AI tour. We Are The Champions must be from BIAB, that's a really nice "easter egg" - please please please release the whole thing, GD 🤩1 point

Homecoming demo is probably the most interesting song on the album. Personally, I've long since thought that at some point during the C&V sessions the band were listening to the works of The Who and started experimenting with different movements within one song. The similarities to A Quick One Whilst He's Away are pretty evident here. I don't think the fact that they covered the song during the 21CB era is a coincidence.1 point

Just listened to the Tokyo tracks through my good headphones and man was Billie Joe’s guitar playing sloppy, but his vocals were fantastic! Jason White was truly a vital part of their live shows at this point. Props to him, he has the best job in the world! Some of my favorite live tracks for sure, ever since I watched them on YouTube. I like how the bonus tracks have a cleaner, lighter guitar tone. Different vibe that doesn’t completely fit in with the album, still killer tracks of course. Even though I’ve heard them all before, it’s nice to revisit them in this package. This is definitely the best anniversary pack of the bunch for me. Being my favorite album of all time, I’m considering getting the vinyl pack too. And it comes with 2 dvds! I’ve held off on watching the documentary because I’m going to watch it with my dad who got me into Green Day in the first place by playing this very album. I was 7 years old and I still remember how I thought the song American Idiot was the greatest thing I’ve ever heard.1 point

Green Day try to take credit for Stop, Drop and Roll on the blue ray. No mention of The Network though. At least they didn't try to take credit for Money Money as well.1 point

Idk why, but the extended Homecoming guitar riff and bass in Everyone’s Breaking Down sounds like it could be used in the credits of a movie or for band introductions at the end of a set in an alternate reality.1 point

I know I‘m just repeating what has been said many times now but I absolutely love Lowlife. The lines „I wanna be alright. I wanna be okay tonight“ bring tears to my eyes.❤️ This Anniversary Box in combination with the release of Unt and the upcoming European tour make me so happy to be alive at the moment, even if the world around us is slowly falling to pieces…1 point

Still listening to Lowlife non-stop Green Day is the best band EVER 🫶1 point

I haven't had a proper moment to sit down with this and listen straight through, but I've been listening to it on the go when I can, especially the "new" stuff, and it's really mind-blowing. I can't believe I was expecting to be disappointed! I didn't even realize there was going to be an alternative AI so I was very shocked when that started playing on Spotify while I was driving, ha. It's amazing to me that they were at such peak performance during this era that they could shelve and chop up a song like Lowlife. I love it. You compare it to the stuff that made it onto the trilogy and FOAM it's like it's not even the same band! It's also hilarious that I was so hyped to hear Homecoming this tour. Now normal Homecoming just sounds boring. It feels so weird to hear all this now after hearing the finished product and seeing how beloved it became. Man, we could be living in a very strange alternate reality right now if they didn't go back to the drawing board. Now I'm really curious how the band feels listening to all this old stuff too!1 point

Just listened to the demo disk: the alternate version of American Idiot was a revelation. Obviously the final version with the "proper" lyrics is more impactful but it's so singular and iconic in my head the idea of it being anything other than what it just is is incredible to hear. The original version of Homecoming was so cool. For some reason it didn't cross my mind that we'd get to hear Mike's snippets that kicked the whole project off so it was a joy when it came up. So creative in the use of different instruments: the piano bits, the synth, the period ringtone, aces. And I love the part where they're really leaning in to the A Quick One homage. It's interesting to hear how much of the final song is there divorced from the American Idiot storyline (ditto that with Cluster Bomb). I adore Everybody's Breaking Down as a full song, so swingy, so groovy, what a bop. "Run for cover and hit the lights" Billie's vocal delivery made me melt. Like others have mentioned, it sounds like it could've come right off Warning. Lowlife is so interesting, it feels like hearing an alternate universe version of JoS mixed with Strange Days Are Here To Stay. It's really refreshing hearing such a familiar album in a new context! Can't wait to delve into the live stuff.1 point

I had forgotten that! Anyone feeling like calling Aaron out on his misinformation 😂😂😂1 point

If I remember correctly, Aaron wrote in his magazine that Green Day was scheduled to play in Beijing in 2010. However, the concert never took place.1 point

Even though the book is called Green Day in China they didn’t actually play China that tour1 point

I can’t get the search function to work on my phone there is a tattoo thread I can look for later. Anyway, Billie was lying about the roadie (like the guy was dubious because of course he wouldn’t have a roadie’s name tattooed!) Zeke was for Amanda, he wanted it covered because she’d broken up with him and he was getting back with Adrienne. She had a feminist zine called Zeke so it was kind of a nickname for her. These are cool pics and love the story!0 points
