On this day 20 years ago (18 November 2004), Green Day played the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR on the American Idiot Tour. 27 years ago (18 November 1997), Green Day did a press conference in Montreal, Canada and played the Metropolis later that day. More photos: 29 years ago (18 November 1995), Green Day played the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis, IN on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (18 November 1994), Green Day played the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL on the Dookie Tour which, yes, was the infamous Jaded in Chicago show. More photos: 33 years ago (18 November 1991), Green Day played Villa Roller in Waiblingen, Germany.4 points

Tenor Jason Freese plays a variety of instruments, including: Piano/keyboard: Freese is best known for playing the keyboard in Green Day. He joined the band as a touring member in 2004 for their American Idiot tour. Guitar: Freese plays guitar in addition to the keyboard. Saxophone: Freese plays the tenor saxophone in Green Day. Accordion: Freese plays the accordion. Trombone: Freese plays the trombone. Flute: Freese plays the flute. Horns: Freese plays horns in Green Day. Freese also sings backing vocals for Green Day. He has also toured with the Goo Goo Dolls and Weezer. Freese is also a record producer and singer. He is part of a new band called Watershow with his brother, Josh Freese, Mike Doherty, and Kevin Blades.1 point

I think the festival thing is a bit of a double-edged sword for a band like Green Day. Playing big festivals is a great way to reach music lovers who aren’t necessarily into your music but who loved the performance and then maybe turn to your music, on the other hand, the fans want to see you on your own. Also, once you have played stadiums and been so lauded for so long as a great live band, it’s pretty hard to scale back just because your genre isn’t so popular. Did you all see Ryan Bailey’s post from the other day? Can’t find it to share, but he was saying he hadn’t realised before touring the GD that they have no backing or click track, he couldn’t believe it. I think it explains the lack of variation in set lists but if you want to compete with other huge productions (often part fake) then you have to make compromises. I can totally see why they do what they do.1 point

I wouldn't think much about the album sales. Really I don't think there's really been any updates on sales outside of the first week sales. And albums don't really sell anymore anyway, it probably wouldn't make a big difference if they were including sales to date. Streaming is much more important and while the tracks from FOAM still have more spotify streams than Saviors tracks in total, Saviors will overtake it at some point in the next 6 months probably and will continue to gain streams at a faster rate than FOAM probably forever. All the tracks from FOAM get shockingly little listens, even the supposedly "bigger" singles from the album, Father of All with 7.5k daily listens and Oh Yeah with an abysmal 3.5k daily listens. kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_albums.html kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_songs.html When you compare Saviors figures to RevRad, it does look bad but remember that RevRad has had 8 more years to accumulate sales & streams and was released in an era where album sales weren't completely dead compared to 2024, which let it get 95k sales in its first week and a good bit more in the following weeks/months. Still Breathing and Bang Bang have been moderately successful on spotify. They're far from their most successful singles but are at 116 million and 90 million spotify streams respectively, definitely their most successful post-21CB tracks. RevRad is currently their 5th most streamed album on spotify, however is gaining streams at a much slower rate than Insomniac and even Warning, despite having more streams than those albums overall1 point

That’s really sad. Yet the album got great reviews. And I hope the band realizes how much their fanbase likes Saviors…. We need more Saviors songs in their upcoming tour!1 point

The documentary definitely has its shortcomings. I also thought it would have more of a narrative and take us through the timeline of everything leading to American Idiot and beyond. But I still enjoyed all the fun bits we got especially things we didn't get on HLAHG and BIAB. Definitely feel like there was more they could've done, but I'm still happy with it. I had a good time watching it, whereas HLAG is decent....but then I remember the dance number in the beginning and I get mad all over again. Really disappointed that a disc was wasted on that.1 point

I agree, it felt sort of all over the place like HLAHG did and it didn’t tell a compelling story clearly. They should have gone deeper into the interviews about where the band really was at the end of the Warning era, with a triumphant finish to where they ended up. They did that loosely but more interviews with the people involved like Rob Cavallo, Warner execs, etc. cut all the repeat footage from HLAHG and BIAB and for god’s sake give up on the story that the tapes were stolen and just tell the truth. Instead of “we had a lot of fun on tour”, show how they first wrote an okay album, their career was on the line, the label pushed them to do something better and with hard work and sacrifice (like two divorces and a DUI) they got there and succeeded. It’s an emotional story if they ever want to really tell it.1 point

What a perfect description you make of this brilliant album. GD have done it again. What a year 2024 had been one way and another for us GD fans. Yet I'm somewhat saddened and feel really really sorry for the band members, if greenday.fm/charts/album-sales/, are a true reflection of the listening public out there. Listed below are the estimated worldwide sales + streaming (album equivalent units) figures for Green Day’s albums along with the pure album sales (for releases prior to 2015) and any RIAA certifications they have been awarded for US sales. The worldwide sales + streaming overall total and individual studio albums totals are updated on the first and 15th of every month. Updated Nov 1. Saviors Sales + Streaming 252,000 Billboard (US) watch: Positive reviews from fans and critics didn’t equal out to much of a sales boost for Saviors over the bands previous morante divisive album, Father Of All. In it’s first week Saviors matched Father Of All‘s #4 Billboard 200 debut after selling 49,000 copies in the US, 1,000 more than it’s predecessors first week performance. Father Of All Motherfuckers Sales + Streaming 276,000 Billboard (US) watch: Despite generally favourable album reviews from critics, Father Of All had fans divided with the bands new direction which resulted in the worst first week sales total of their career on a major label. The album debuted on the Billboard charts at #4 selling 48,000 copies in the US which was almost half the first week sales of their previous album, Revolution Radio, which came out of the gate with 95,000. The album is by far the lowest selling of the bands career. How can this be. Undervalued comes to mind, or better still underappreciated, that is not valued highly enough. Where's the 1.3m who bought RevRad, or 6.5m 21st Cen, or 24m AI. I know musical tastes can change over time, but is punk rock no longer relevant? Surely not. And yet when you look at tickets available for live show, many venues are sold out. Proving that GD are still one of, if not, the most stunning, musically and visually, to watch live ever. And again I was so lucky to see them again this year, they were better than ever. I don't understand. Maybe it's me. All I can say is they don't know what they are missing. Their loss. Don't lose heart GD we love you, always. ❤️1 point

Am I the only one disappointed by the documentary? I had already watched HLAHG and I'm in no hurry to watch it again. I'm with @The Grohl on this, I would much have preferred they released a live show for the 2nd Blu Ray rather than HLAHG again. The new documentary is an improvement in comparison to HLAHG but still it could have been so much better. Both documentaries are basically just a collection of random behind the scenes and live performances. That makes a compilation, not a documentary. Lots of wasted potential in both.1 point

Hope they release lowlife as a single or video that is just as good as black eyeliner1 point

Having just watched the new documentary and HLAHG, I looked around a bit on YouTube and found this. I think it’s interesting, a lot of material not included in those films.1 point

This is not a criticism but sometimes I wonder if we are all listening to the same record.1 point
