They certainly deserve it. And they are not new to getting awards either. The band previously took home:- the Best Rock Album award for American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. Other Grammy wins for the band were for Best Alternative Performance (Basket Case), Record Of The Year (Boulevard Of Broken Dreams) and Best Musical Theatre Album (American Idiot Original Cast Recording). Impressive.4 points

I'm so pleased for guy's. I really hope they win at least one of the three they have been nominated for. They deserve it.🥰4 points
-
3 Grammys actually!!! Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance (The American Dream is Killing Me), and Best Rock Song (Dilemma)!!!!4 points
-
Bless Billie for trying to read the script and having no idea to look at any point of during video. Three nominations is awesome, yay!!!4 points

When Saviors was announced, some feared that an album release in january might not count towards consideration for the following year's grammy awards. As it turns out, it does. So happy for them.3 points
-
Having a blast. One of their best songs overall I think.3 points

I mean, bring nominated is pretty cool in and of itself, like academy award nominations- still something to brag about even without the win. They definitely deserve to get at least one of these though. How is it awarded? Its an industry vote/panel, right? Not a public vote?3 points
-
Would be great to see them win it. Saviors is excellent and especially fresh for a band that’s been around so long. Wow 3 nominations! American Dream for best rock performance and Dilemma for best rock song!3 points
-
They deserve all three but it's just bad luck to be nominated alongside the Rolling Stones' best album in years. At a minimum Dilemma deserves to win I'd like to see them get that at least. And have they always had artists reading out the nomination announcements like this? I don't remember seeing that before.3 points

I wouldn't think much about the album sales. Really I don't think there's really been any updates on sales outside of the first week sales. And albums don't really sell anymore anyway, it probably wouldn't make a big difference if they were including sales to date. Streaming is much more important and while the tracks from FOAM still have more spotify streams than Saviors tracks in total, Saviors will overtake it at some point in the next 6 months probably and will continue to gain streams at a faster rate than FOAM probably forever. All the tracks from FOAM get shockingly little listens, even the supposedly "bigger" singles from the album, Father of All with 7.5k daily listens and Oh Yeah with an abysmal 3.5k daily listens. kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_albums.html kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_songs.html When you compare Saviors figures to RevRad, it does look bad but remember that RevRad has had 8 more years to accumulate sales & streams and was released in an era where album sales weren't completely dead compared to 2024, which let it get 95k sales in its first week and a good bit more in the following weeks/months. Still Breathing and Bang Bang have been moderately successful on spotify. They're far from their most successful singles but are at 116 million and 90 million spotify streams respectively, definitely their most successful post-21CB tracks. RevRad is currently their 5th most streamed album on spotify, however is gaining streams at a much slower rate than Insomniac and even Warning, despite having more streams than those albums overall2 points

After nominations have been determined and announced, Academy voting members vote in up to ten categories across up to three Fields in the genre Fields plus the four categories of the General Field to determine the winners.2 points

Awesome. I think they really deserve best rock album and best rock song. I'd be happy if they one either.2 points

Great news, would love them to win all three! what’s the difference between record of the year and album of the year? Some serious shit nominations poor Billie had to announce 😂😂2 points

Apparently Cuatro was nominated for Best Music Film in 2014 but other than that yes. Great news!2 points

When you casually decide to check out the Grammy Nominations broadcast hoping for a Green Day mention. When Green Day's nomination is announced, you race up the stairs at work to get back to your computer to tell everyone on GDC and proceed to almost have a heart attached at your desk when Billie appears in the broadcast to announce Album of the Year. Seriously, I'm so glad the office is dead today. I could not contain my excitement2 points

Guys! Green Day is nominated for best Rock Grammy for 2025! The Grammys are currently announcing 2025 nominees and Haley Williams just announced best Rock Nominees. Saviors is up for the Grammy!! Congrats boys!!! AHHHH Billie is on the nomination broadcast!!! He announced record and album of the year! I am losing my shit at work!!! I didn't know he was appearing, so it was a total surprise! Sadly, Green Day did not make the cut for these categories2 points

Billie has said he gets no inspiration from Trump and doesn’t want to give him that attention, and I don’t blame him. Amazingly, I feel like the most effective things that could be said on this topic were already addressed on American Idiot. That album is proving to be ahead of its time in a rather unfortunate way.2 points

Thought I'd be clever and played the whole album through, any excuse. That didn't work coz love every song. Certainly not an underrated track but fav is Welcome to Paradise, coz I heard it first on Kerplunk, back in '91. Love the video. Sorry, hope you don't mind, I know I'm not really keeping to the question, but I wondered what tract has been played least on tour over the years. And from the list below from that amazing site Setlist.fm, from record available, Emenius Sleepus is bottom played only 46 times. Amazingly, May 27, 2013 was first live performance. Does that make it underrated? However, most recent live performance was on September 28, 2024 during current Saviors tour. Here's link. https://www.setlist.fm/stats/albums/green-day-13d68939.html Dookie Longview (1068) Basket Case (1028) She (887) When I Come Around (801) Burnout (316) Chump (246) F.O.D. (242) All by Myself (167) Coming Clean (104) In the End (54) Having a Blast (52) Pulling Teeth (50) Sassafras Roots (48) Emenius Sleepus (46) * Welcome to Paradise performances listed under Kerplunk album1 point

And also, Billie posted this studio video like a day after FOAM came out recording vocals for a song that I later realized was Corvette Summer!!! And the FOAM sessions were from early 2019!!! The Saviors credits list Butch Walker on guitar for Goodnight Adeline, so could that have been a FOAM track as well? Keep in mind that before the pandemic happened, Billie hinted that they might put out another album before the Hella Mega Tour!!! Yet the Saviors Wikipedia page says that the sessions started in 2021 and says nothing about pulling songs from the FOAM sessions. So maybe they simply rerecorded these songs and kept the same sound?1 point
-
And now they have issued a refund for the album even though it shows that it will arrive on the 14th. Does this album even physically exist?1 point
-
Yep, Sassafras Roots for me too. I have not yet heard it live yet, but I will get to finally hear it in March in Melbourne next year. And "Basket Case, She, Sassafras Roots, When I Come Around" is my favourite block of 4 songs in a row on any of the albums. I am already expecting to get pretty emotional when those 4 are played in a row next year.1 point

Record of the Year Recognizes a single song, including the artist's performance and the contributions of the song's producers, engineers, and mixers. Album of the Year Recognizes an entire album, including the artist, featured artists, songwriter(s), producers, engineers, and mixers1 point

Finally, that's awesome! And kind of surreal, considering the amount of shit that has infiltrated the charts in the last ten years. Is this their first nomination since American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording? Time surely flies fast..1 point

I didn't know they were nominated for three! The live broadcast only mentioned Best Rock Album. Yay!1 point

Sassafras Roots. It's probably my favorite song on the record, yet it's not mentioned a lot whenever there's Dookie conversation. Maybe I'm just a sucker for those pop melodies, but I love that song.1 point

I just don’t think the music scene is in a place where new Green Day music can be successful. Saviors is fresh and catchy, the singles have all been modern-sounding and clear-wormy. Rock, especially an old rock band, just doesn’t sell anymore.1 point

On this day last year (4 November 2023), Green Day played the Bataclan in Paris, France. More photos: 20 years ago (4 November 2004), Green Day were on Musique Plus in Montreal, Canada. More photos: Later that day, Green Day played the Centre Bell in Montreal, Canada. 27 years ago (4 November 1997), Green Day played the Theatre Club in Fort Lauderdale, FL on the Nimrod Tour. "The place was packed! Billie Joe even said, 'This place is way overcrowded, but I won't say anything.' Green Day started off with Nice Guys Finish Last, but only played about 4 songs from Nimrod. I was a little surprised to hear Green Day go back so far and play Knowledge and Paper Lanterns, but I was thrilled because I love those songs. Throughout the show, Billie Joe and Mike sprayed water from at the crowd in the front. In the middle of the show, one kid was on someone's shoulders, shining a flashlight in Billie's eyes, so Billie got a flashlight and said, 'How the fuck do you like it? No one wants to look at you, get the fuck down. My flashlight is bigger than yours.' Billie posed like Marilyn Manson and chanted, 'The beautiful people, the beautiful people,' when starting Longview. Billie was very funny. Tre was quite calm until the end when he trashed his drum set. He jumped on it, causing it to collapse and the picked pieces of it up, then smashed it back down. Mike didn't say much, except a few things that I couldn't understand. Finally, after their encore, Mike and Billie broke out the champagne and squirted it on fans in the front. Green Day sounded awesome, and put on a GREAT show. They were truly spectacular and no one was disappointed!" 29 years ago (4 November 1995), Green Day played the Community War Memorial in Rochester, NY on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (4 November 1994), Green Day played the Olympic Velodrome in Carson, CA on the Dookie Tour. "This was a challenging shoot. The place was huge, the bleachers were a mile away so I had to get somewhat close to make it worthwhile. There were areas on the grass that had little humps of hills and I staked one out so I could shoot over the crowd, here is the results. WHAT'S UP YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKERS!" — fromthenosebleeds More stills from that video: 33 years ago (4 November 1991), Green Day played Roter Sand in Bremerhaven, Germany. 35 years ago (4 November 1989), Green Day played in El Sobrante, CA. I had no idea they'd gone to South America so early in their career, or if I did know I'd forgotten. They totally could have played Venezuela. Thanks for sharing your story! I'm so glad you got to have this experience It sounds absolutely wild!1 point

That is pretty insane. Saviors is banger after banger and sounds like quintessential Green Day, unlike FOAM. Are they counting Fever? Otherwise One Eye Bastard could fit the sound of FOAM. FOAM just honestly sounds so different and not like them.1 point

So according to a new interview in Music Connection, those seven extra songs from FOAM ended up on Saviors https://www.musicconnection.com/green-day-american-saviors/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1VPiOda1skdxhyjJzMYycP9-1OCGE0d1aFOIDpHf_I4Sf6mY3EnR8cMoE_aem_TfmCM_s5iKC_7GPSWFZJcg Quote: “But it mustn’t be forgotten that Green Day is promoting the Saviors album, a typically brilliant slab of work that is snotty, zany, and important in equal measure. Armstrong has said that there are seven songs on this record that didn’t make it onto the last one, the Butch Walker-produced Father of All Motherfuckers, making it all the more startling that this album is so good, that it flows so beautifully.” I remember they said TADIKM was from those sessions and they added it later. What do we think were the other six? And how on earth could those FOAM songs be so underwritten and mid and these Saviors songs are great? They don’t sound like they came from the same time period at all, unless he completely rewrote them later and made them all better0 points
