I’m truly speechless for Lowlife. What a fucking beauty.8 points

"Lowlife" might be my favorite demo, "Dearly Beloved" was always my favorite part of JoS, and I knew there was a reason why I loved "Strange Days" from Saviors so much. lol8 points

I really enjoy Taylor Swift’s endorsements because she lays out why she’s voting for someone with specific examples, says she knows who she’s voting for because she did her research, and encourages people to do their own research and choose the candidate who aligns best with their values. I think that’s a very thoughtful approach for a written post and a great way to especially get younger voters involved in the democratic process. That said, I’ve got zero issue with Billie posting a video saying hey, I’m voting Kamala, you know why and you should vote for her too. Because he’s fucking right. This is very literally life or death, democracy or fascism at stake. It’s not complicated and shouldn’t be as close of a race as it is. I felt really happy and proud that he took the time to post that. I know there’s debate over how effective celebrity endorsements are, but in my view, we’ll take all the help we can get. And to @Hermione’s point, even though Taylor doesn’t outright say “you should vote for her too,” that’s what all political endorsements ultimately imply. Billie just came out and said it because he was speaking off the cuff and didn’t run a statement through his PR team lol.8 points

I am just 3 minutes into homecoming and oh my god this is the greatest fucking thing ever. And they start it off with one of my favorite guitar riffs of the whole album hell yeah Updated: just started lowlife and got so much happier7 points

Billie posted some pics from the TADIKM video shoot on his Instagram story6 points

Thank fucking god they had the idea for the rock opera. Songs like homecoming would effectively be useless (but pleasant) noise if they kept themselves original subjects rather than the conclusion to the album story line. I wonder how funny they thought it was seeing the serious and emotionally charged broadway cast rehearsals of homecoming knowing how that song originally started.5 points

are we gonna talk about how cool "Homecoming (Nobody Likes You)" is? I mean it's also pretty wacky ngl, but I just love how different it is to the final version. Oh and also, gimme gimme those sweet Tho Who / a quick one while he's away influences too5 points

Absolutely loving “everyone’s breaking down”. That is my favourite part in homecoming so to have it as it’s own stand alone song is amazing. Particularly liking thislyric; “pick up the pace and don’t be late, hurry up and wait”5 points

https://archive.ph/Wjwuy The Saviors Tour grossed $132.4 million and sold 1.2 million tickets, easily ending as the band’s highest-grossing and best-selling tour ever. More details at the link above.5 points

I managed to buy ticket for Vienna with presale code and then, out of nowhere, they've added the second show. I haven't seen them since Revolution Radio tour, they've been my favorite band for 19 years now, a place I call home, safe zone. So I sad fuck it, fuck the money situation, regret it later, you only live once, and bought the ticket for the second date as well 🥰 I'm still kind of shocked with my impulsive action, but I'm fucking thrilled on the other hand4 points

Omg the alt version of AI is sooooo Warning-esque, very cool. Pulling out Everyone’s Breaking Down from the rest of Homecoming really highlighted for me how much that part sounds like Warning, too. I feel silly for never really noticing that before. Really loved this version of the song. Lowlife is SO COOL? Wow, I love it. I’m hearing a lot of 21CB in it, so interesting. Chorus is also a lot like Strange Days. Love the “I just wanna be alright” line. Homecoming is hilarious. Love some of the weird instrumentation in it and the continued lines about who is in the studio cracked me up.4 points
-
probably listened to this songs uncountable times before, but they still hit like *chefs kiss* when AI got released it was the very first contact with greenday's music i had in my life, and oh boy what a ride it has been so far without them and their music my life would probably be much shittier 😄4 points

In addition to the successful ticket acquisition my AI Anniversary Box has just arrived. This is really a great day!🎉🎉🎉 (And the cat is still alive and even eating a little bit…)4 points

Got a FoS ticket for the 18th now too.😃😃😃 This time just one ticket for me, don’t want to stress my husband too much…😂 So now I‘m seeing them in Vienna twice and then later in Luxembourg. Happy!!!😊4 points

they really kept Lowlife hidden away from us for 20 years. i'm gonna have this on repeat for awhile4 points

I'm just blown away with Lowlife. Just Wow!!!! I even cried with the chorus I swear. Billie's vocals in american idiot era are something else 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼4 points

Most interesting to me as a long-time fan is this fleshed-out version of the “Nobody Likes You” section of Homecoming. Mike Dirnt has always talked about his lyrical contributions to this record being minimal, as it seems to be most a child of Billie’s creation, apart from a song he said he wrote about how frustrated he was about always getting to the studio first, leaving him feeling alone. Thus, you hear the full version of this composition on this record!! Finally!! This was such a great moment as someone who’s loved this record the past 20 years. “Lowlife” is another great highlight amongst the bonus material, taking one of the melodies from “Jesus of Suburbia” and fleshing it out into an uptempo rocker, featuring soaring harmonies over its chorus and almost giving an unexpectedly uplifting vibe with its hopeful yet desperate lyrics. Just a great rerelease all around, I only wish there were more4 points

Wow, I really love Lowlife. Already listening to it on repeat. It’s wild how many bits of it went on to become/inspire parts of future songs but also how well it works in this form, too.4 points

This is not just any election though. This election will decide whether we save our democracy or elect a fascist president. I have absolutely no problem with anyone celebrity or not, telling people to vote for the only anti-fascist candidate on the ballot. Preach Billie! 💚4 points

I just talked to a friend from Vienna who has been at the venue before and she told me there's no division inside the venue. The "Nord" and "Süd" separation seems to be only relevant for the entry situation. I got Nord for both Vienna dates.3 points

Did anyone watch the new documentary? Is it any good?3 points

Was there any explanation as to what the fallout between Rob and the band was about?3 points

They recorded the album twice, one at 880 with Chris Dugan and reto Peter and then again at ocean way with rob, but Rob was providing creative guidance and “producing” that whole time3 points

Homecoming (Nobody Likes You) is definitely the highlight of the set. Everyone is comparing it to A Quick One, While He's Away by The Who, which makes sense. However, one influence that people may be missing is that Billie's "I was away from the studio" section (0:44 – 1:40) is based on The Who's song Happy Jack. Seriously, go check it out on YouTube.3 points

I did not expect half of Homecoming to be a total re-imagining. You can tell that they were still figuring out the direction for the song!3 points

On this day 5 years ago (25 October 2019), Green Day were on Kevin & Bean's Last Breakfast at the KROQ Sound Space in LA. They were interviewed and played 7 songs. More photos: And some gifs: 29 years ago (25 October 1995), Green Day played the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada on the Insomniac Tour. "I'm sure I will get a lot of crap for this but I am going to be totally honest. This was and is still the shittiest rock concert I have ever gone to. The tickets were expensive for the time ($50-ish) and they only played, and not very well, for 45 minutes. The opening act (The Riverdales) were far more entertaining. Also, the venue was like 60% sold which makes for a crappy experience. Most overrated band of the 90's." — Tojo1978 That quote is interesting because someone said about one of the earlier shows on that tour (less than two weeks before, I think) that The Riverdales were underwhelming but Green Day were worth it. "Don't throw your sneakers at the band. Seems like common sense. But there's no persuading the crowd during a Green Day show at Maple Leaf Gardens, in Toronto. Even a string of obscenities from singer Billie Joe Armstrong can't stop the footwear from flying. Then all of a sudden, Armstrong stops thrashing his guitar - smack in the middle of a searing rendition of 2,000 Light Years Away - to beckon one barefoot fan onstage to collect his rightful property. No hard feelings, Green Day's leader appears to tell him. The stage-struck kid scrambles up, takes a nervous bow and bends over to lace his shoes. He ought to be watching his back, though: Armstrong is behind him, wearing a boar's head Halloween mask and brandishing a butcher's knife. The crowd roars, and the kid, unharmed, leaps back into the snarling mosh pit. Minutes later, Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt bounds toward his microphone to add harmonies to a rousing cover of Operation Ivy's Knowledge, only to get smacked in the forehead by a wayward high-top basketball shoe. This time, Armstrong doesn't even notice. He's too busy ripping chords from his blue Stratocaster and contorting his face through a rogues' gallery of grimaces, gauging each one for maximum audience response. Then he turns his back to the arena and drops his pants. That's entertainment, Green Day style. Pretty soon panic-stricken security personnel are chasing down kids who have jumped from their assigned seats to the general-admission floor, dragging them out the exits. Has the evening finally gotten totally out of control? We'll never know. 'Thanks a lot, because we don't take this shit for granted!' Armstrong shouts, and the band walks off. In the dressing room, Armstrong heads straight for a sofa in the corner and clams up. Bored? Perhaps. Exhausted? Most likely." — Rolling Stone There are a LOT of stories of shoes being thrown at Green Day from that tour. 33 years ago (25 October 1991), Green Day played their first European show at the Ostbunker in Osnabrück, Germany.3 points

VIP (so hopefully front row) first night in Vienna, GC second night in Vienna, and GC in Amsterdam with my best friend, who is also a Green Day fan but life has made it so we have never been able to go to a Green Day concert together. My heart is full and my bank account is empty. Here's to hoping they do not announce any more shows before the next pay check 😂 I would be grumpy too (I was very grumpy after the presale), don't worry! I would see keep trying, normally they don't release everything in one go, so I would say at least until noon you might have a chance. Try with a different browser or device maybe? I had the problem with the map not loading, but I was always able to see the menu with the different ticket categories. Otherwise start checking for official re-sales once those go up. Especially if you're looking for only one ticket, you're bound to find one eventually (that's how I got Lyon and Hamburg earlier this year), and it would still be cheaper than VIP. And if you do end up going with VIP, at least it means you might get front row, so there's a silver lining 😅3 points

All of the goosebumps with Lowlife. That's the kind of song that made me fall in love with them. Ugh, it's perfect. Also, how can you tell it's been 20 years? "I'M RICK JAMES, BITCH!" -Billie on We Are The Champions 😂3 points

The lyric change from Billie to Jesus in Homecoming. Flash forward to 2009 and Billie wears that black shirt that has ‘Jesus’ written on as a name tag. He’s been telling us all along.3 points
