More photos: 13 years ago (23 October 2011), Billie Joe performed Good Riddance when Will Ferrell was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He was also interviewed. 5. Sorry about your cat. ❤️ A lot of bands do include cool stuff. If Green Day sold early entry tickets - to a somewhat reasonable price I would have gotten that too. No question. Green Day has talked so many times about how they want as many people as possible to be able to go to their shows. This must be weird for them.

  11. And my first was 15 years ago today! Those are great pics It was so awesome because a big group of fans from GDC and FB from the UK, US, Europe and even Australia were travelling to all the UK shows in a minibus and calling it "Rocktober" and we met up with them, met over 30 people from here that day and still see some at shows now! After just following the band online mostly through here it was surreal to actually see them live and hang out with so many cool people from here. I'll never forget lovely J'net who was with us during the show getting handed a pick by Mike and just giving it to me(!), singing along with *the* Tony from BIAB, staying at the awesome Sharon and Graham's house afterwards where they had an open door policy for GD fans , and everyone we met. And getting to do this with my sister who loves the band as much as me, every show I've been to since has been with her. And the show, that tour was probably their live peak and got to see all the songs and traditions I'd waited for plus loads of 21st CB songs, just amazing to see hot blond Billie and the rest of the band right there . Then unexpectedly got to see FBHT just over a week later...one reason I still obsess over that is it came right after my GD dreams already came true. Unbelievable magical time.

  12. Nimrod and Warning are quite highly rated by serious Green Day fans. They don't get as much love outside the fanbase though. The trilogy is their most underrated work in my opinion. That's also more popular on GDC these days, but people everywhere else still hate it, and it gets less love from Mike and Tre than any of their other work. Are there some duds? Yeah (such as Carpe Diem and Little Boy Named No Thanks), but some of Billie's best love songs are on there. Fell For You and Angel Blue perfectly capture the feeling of knowing you're falling for someone you shouldn't. Oh Love conveys the frustration of that person holding back. Fuck Time and Stop When the Red Lights Flash are like two fanfics: one is trashy but fun and the other is actually tasteful and of the same quality as any professionally published work. Wild One is a glorious celebration of giving in to a love that might kill you, but it's worth it. Stray Heart is a bop. Brutal Love is an absolute masterpiece. Missing You is a fun and cute song that does what it's supposed to do. 8th Avenue Serenade is my favourite Green Day song. I'm biased because my first love also serenaded me on 8th Avenue, but it's such a beautiful, intimate portrayal of what a simple place can come to mean to people who are in love, and it perfectly conveys being scared to hope that something might come of it even though you already know you're hoping it will. And then there are the non-love songs like Rusty James and Lazy Bones that are also very high quality. Thank you for coming to my Regular Trilogy 4 Lyf Session. Next episode probably coming the next time I've had as little sleep as I have recently. RevRad is also seriously underrated. 21st Century Breakdown does get some love from fans now, but not enough considering what a masterpiece it is. 8th Avenue Serenade is my favourite Green Day song, but 21st Century Breakdown is my favourite album. If only it could get an anniversary tour... I know it won't and why, but if only.

  13. Mine is en route! So non-zero chance I will get in on Friday! I'll be stepping out of here as soon as the first person gets it and until I've consumed everything in it though, because I don't want any more spoilers. 😅

  20. I only order at the official store if they have exclusive stuff (store-only vinyl variants, etc.) and this time I "had" to order the AI vinyl package, just because there's something extra included that's not in the other regular boxes (sigh). Don't become collectors, kids - haha Around 2013-2014 I ordered some t-shirts from an official GD store and there was some weird stuff sown into the t-shirt and I was able to see it clearly and I felt it when I wore it and I contacted the store and sent them pictures and they did not budge and told me that it was no production mishap and basically told me that it's bad luck for me and they did not offer anything in return - no refund, no sorry, nothing. From that day on I decided not to buy t-shirts from official GD stores and I think I barely bought new GD t-shirts since. Mostly also because I never LOVED any print that much to actually buy it. Recently the designs are getting better, but meh...not for me from the official stores. I have my standards (waves a cane in the air at all the young kids)

  21. I didn’t get the option for that shipping method! Just got offered standard from the Green Day store. I would’ve gone for that as well if I had it as an option. I am glad yours has been shipped and hopefully yours turns up on time ☺️ Hopefully my strongly worded email will do something but I don’t hold much hope! I’m just so excited to get this box set and can’t wait to watch the documentary. Had plans to come off duty Friday and get home and watch it but looks seriously unlikely now 😔 Yeah I have learnt my lesson now with this, I just as the official bands store it’s shocking. I know they’ll have high volume of sales with the anniversary stuff and new record this year but that’s no excuse to not fulfil pre orders. I have sent a strongly worded email and will see what they say as the automated response I got was BS. They stated that pre orders are not always sent before or on the date of release which they should make that more clear on the products page.

  22. I feel Insomniac and Warning are hugely under appreciated. They are both such great albums (better than Dookie I would argue). I also think RevRad doesn't get as much love as it deserves.

  23. Yeah, they are awful. My worst experience with them was with the No Fun Mondays vinyl, which got shipped two MONTHS after the release date 😒

  24. Yeah unfortunately this is why I try to avoid ordering from Warner. I always have an issue. My stuff never arrives in time and they never provide updates. I usually have to send a bunch of angry emails before they send me a tracking number only to show that my order won't be delivered for another 2 weeks.

  25. I got a reply saying that pre orders are dispatched around the order date? Now I know that it will definitely be the last time I pre order again direct! What’s the point in pre ordering! I think it won’t arrive till next week which is apparently shocking. I went on twitter and Reddit and noticed people have had the same experience as well.

  26. Semi related, but have just noticed that some of the American Idiot music videos have been upgraded to 4K, those being American Idiot, WMUWSE, and Jesus of Suburbia but only the long version, not the short one. Maybe it's progressively being added to all, or just those. The American Idiot one looks so bright now, it's one of the most interesting ones imo Oh and also, the American Idiot video is uncensored too which is a nice touch

  29. I did the camping until 2019. But then I turned 30 and was like "Alright, that's it. My body doesn't allow this shit anymore"😂😑 I absolutely agree about the merch. It would be so much better if they included some really nice stuff that's worth the price. @Mollyluna so sorry about your cat 😥 I lost my boy in March so I really feel you 😢

  34. I also have nothing against sitting in line all day and taking time of from work. I usually travel for shows anyways so I need more than one day of. If there weren't VIP tickets I would have been queing for both Amsterdam and Vienna. Some of the other bands I listen to sell VIP tickets for around 85 euros. It includes early entry, you can chose a couple of merch items and you get a signet laminate or something. One of the bands also include m&g and an acoustic preformance. I have gotten those VIP tickets several times and for me it's more worth the price. Green Day's tickets are extremely overpriced in my opinion. But if I had an unlimited amount of money, I would have gotten them for all the shows for sure. As long as they're offering it people will buy it. Hope you have fun queuing and fingers crossed for front row. 😊

  36. Bah, secured two Golden Circle for Amsterdam and after I had put in all my information and clicked "pay", it gave me an error and told me to check "my tickets" and they might appear there in the following hour. I don't expect it to though, as my bank never asked for confirmation of the payment. And now there are no more golden circle tickets. 🥺

  42. On this day last year (22 October 2023), Green Day played a second night at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, NV. More photos: 14 years ago (22 October 2012), Green Day played in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. Billie Joe said it was his favourite show ever at the time. More photos: 20 years ago (22 October 2004), Green Day played the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA on the American Idiot Tour. 24 years ago (22 October 2000), Green Day played the Rock It Festival in Perth, Australia on the Warning Tour. 29 years ago (22 October 1995), Green Day played the Agridome in Regina, Canada on the Insomniac Tour. "Decided the day before the show to check out Green Day who were still riding a big wave of success from their major label debut Dookie. They had just released the follow up Insomniac and the first single Geek Stink Breath was a staple on Much Music. I had seats way up in the second level near the roof but was right above the stage, not too bad for so close to show day. Didn't know much about the opening act The Riverdales and I still don't; they came out, played their entire album song by song with no banter then left. The best part of their set was watching Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool riding skateboards behind the stage. Green Day came out firing, gleefully admitting to the crowd that the only reason they came to Regina was David Letterman sensation, Dick Assman. The band gave it their all even when the kids on the floor chucked their shoes at them. Dirnt even barked at the rowdy pricks, 'Hey, your mom paid good money for those shoes!' but that didn't stop them. Apparently, it wasn't anything new to them as they played on, dodging shoes the whole time. During When I Come Around, Billie Joe came out naked with just his beloved blue Fender covering his business. During the guitar solo he spun around and treated the crowd to a little rhythmic butt clenching. I could have lived without that, but overall a good show." I don't suppose anyone reading this has the photos mentioned by Shawn Scallen on the GDA page for this show? 30 years ago (22 October 1994), Green Day played Welcome to Paradise on Top of the Pops. Billie wore a shirt saying "Who am I fooling anyway?" because they were forced to play to a backing track. More photos: Also 30 years ago (22 October 1994), Green Day played the Astoria in London, England on the Dookie Tour. "First gig. Green Day at London Astoria 1994. Technically I'd been to a small festival before this but this was my first proper gig. Joeyfat opened and Billie Joe Armstrong stood on my foot as we were watching at the back. Then came China Drum who I still listen to after all this time. Green Day were so amazing and opened the door for me to a lot more bands." — Andy 31 years ago (22 October 1993), Green Day played their first Latin American show at the Iguanas club in Tijuana, Mexico.

  49. I’ve come to believe that some of these extra/unreleased songs were all or most from Money Money 20/20…I think Cigarettes and Valentines WAS that album and either the band/label didn’t think it was good enough so they had all those songs get more experimental and released it as a side project. Roshambo (10/10) Right Hand o Rama and Supermodel Robots I can see as Green Day songs that followed the trajectory of Warning. Look at Misery…that could have fit on the Network albums if there was more electronic parts…take those 14 songs away there’s Cigarettes and Valentines minus the song they possibly saved and played live on the 21st Century Breakdown tour…maybe some of AI leftovers turned into some Foxboro Hot Tubs…Pedestrian and Mother Mary could fit on Warning…I’m just frustrated that this Warfield show must have been officially recorded and as die hard fans there are so many album tracks played live “allegedly” that we will never get to hear or see. I just wish they would release or upload all these infamous shows with songs they never played live…I’d sell my soul to hear Westbound Sign live once..not counting the sound check…or (uptight/jinx/Haushinkia/Panic Song/Hold On/Misery/No Pride/Tight Wad Hill/Walking Alone/….just frustrating with so many songs we may never hear live hell even Meet Me on the Roof once or a professional recording of Grafitta. But with the amount of money AI special education is going for (I bought it like I buy everything they put out…there’s only so many times Basketcase/When I Come Around/She/Welcome To Paradise/Brainstew/Geek Stink Breath/Hitching a Ride…they can release and have people keep buying the same songs live on these special releases when they might have a treasure trove of album cuts live sitting there. I just hope when it’s time we get 21st Century Breakdown from the Fox Theatre in full released.
