Just wanted to express my gratitude for the entire Green Day Community for keeping me entertained and occupied, especially thoughout this eventful year for our boys. You’re all the best and I appreciate your love for the band I love. I gave up all other social media just over a year ago due to personal reasons, so you’ve all been a help in that journey as well.11 points

No King for a day please. It takes forever. 🙈 Concerts is a great way of seeing new places. I never thought I would go to Luxembourg or Northern Ireland before, but hey, Green Day played there and I went so. 🤭 I haven't been to Vienna before and it looks stunning. I added an extra day for sightseeing and since it looks like it's VIP tickets again I won't be queuing anyways.5 points

I'm excited about the setlist. It will probably be more basic, but maybe we can get some deep cuts at the headliner shows. 🥺5 points

Yes, @Robbie1039 expresses just my feelings. Thank you for this great community!5 points

So he's the one responsible for taking the Green Day pic I despise the most!4 points

My dream is the they switch up a bit the Saviors songs and we get some Fancy Sauce 🥹 Also, I hope that after seeing how much people enjoy Homecoming, they'll switch it up and some times play that instead of JoS.4 points

Vienna 😍 I was hoping for this show since they announced "only" playing Nova Rock for the Saviors Tour in Austria and now they are coming back 😍4 points

On this day last year (22 October 2023), Green Day played a second night at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, NV. More photos: 14 years ago (22 October 2012), Green Day played in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. Billie Joe said it was his favourite show ever at the time. More photos: 20 years ago (22 October 2004), Green Day played the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA on the American Idiot Tour. 24 years ago (22 October 2000), Green Day played the Rock It Festival in Perth, Australia on the Warning Tour. 29 years ago (22 October 1995), Green Day played the Agridome in Regina, Canada on the Insomniac Tour. "Decided the day before the show to check out Green Day who were still riding a big wave of success from their major label debut Dookie. They had just released the follow up Insomniac and the first single Geek Stink Breath was a staple on Much Music. I had seats way up in the second level near the roof but was right above the stage, not too bad for so close to show day. Didn't know much about the opening act The Riverdales and I still don't; they came out, played their entire album song by song with no banter then left. The best part of their set was watching Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool riding skateboards behind the stage. Green Day came out firing, gleefully admitting to the crowd that the only reason they came to Regina was David Letterman sensation, Dick Assman. The band gave it their all even when the kids on the floor chucked their shoes at them. Dirnt even barked at the rowdy pricks, 'Hey, your mom paid good money for those shoes!' but that didn't stop them. Apparently, it wasn't anything new to them as they played on, dodging shoes the whole time. During When I Come Around, Billie Joe came out naked with just his beloved blue Fender covering his business. During the guitar solo he spun around and treated the crowd to a little rhythmic butt clenching. I could have lived without that, but overall a good show." I don't suppose anyone reading this has the photos mentioned by Shawn Scallen on the GDA page for this show? 30 years ago (22 October 1994), Green Day played Welcome to Paradise on Top of the Pops. Billie wore a shirt saying "Who am I fooling anyway?" because they were forced to play to a backing track. More photos: Also 30 years ago (22 October 1994), Green Day played the Astoria in London, England on the Dookie Tour. "First gig. Green Day at London Astoria 1994. Technically I'd been to a small festival before this but this was my first proper gig. Joeyfat opened and Billie Joe Armstrong stood on my foot as we were watching at the back. Then came China Drum who I still listen to after all this time. Green Day were so amazing and opened the door for me to a lot more bands." — Andy 31 years ago (22 October 1993), Green Day played their first Latin American show at the Iguanas club in Tijuana, Mexico.2 points

Actually, the American VIPs were supposed to get a pop-up record store, but I'm assuming that never happened because no-one mentioned it? Or did it and we just didn't hear about it? Yeah, no VIP at all in Asia or Australia. Dynamic pricing is being used in Australia so people are still getting ripped off, but the most expensive tickets in Japan are the gold circle ones which are ¥33,000 (about €200). There are regular fixed price GA tickets for the other Asian shows. I've said this before, but I really wouldn't have an issue with it if they sold less than 50 VIP tickets. Even 100 wouldn't be that bad. At the very least, tell people how many there'll be. Sadly I'm sure there'll be at least 300 and they won't give us any information. It's just an excuse to force anyone who wants to be on the front row to pay more. It might be harder to arrange things in the UK because we're not in the EU anymore, but I still think 237 Global were the problem. Their VIP host was the one who was supposed to ensure everything went smoothly and she didn't even show up at Wembley, which was 100% on 237 Global, not the country or venue. Maybe because it was the end of the tour they got lazy? I don't know. They also ignored the complaint that multiple people signed. That too. At least give the VIPs something better than unusable guitar picks and a toy skateboard.2 points

My theory is that Just Another Year -- most likely the same song as Lately (One More Year), atlhough in a earlier or later version -- will turn out to be what eventually became Xmas Time of the Year (2015). That's one of my "bets", atleast. But we'ill see about that in a few days. Any other suggestions for what the songs could be, now when we're only a few days away from the release?2 points

Costa Rica 2010 is legendary. Actually, I think the whole South American leg of 21CBD tour was absolutely epic.2 points

Yes! They can play so many songs instead of KFAD. True true. All of a sudden I was in Montpellier for some years ago for a concert. Weird how things works out. 🤭 I have been to so many cities in the UK that I never thought I would go to. I have lost count over how many times I've been to Amsterdam so I'll be going on a day trip to somewhere new. Considering Rotterdam. 😊 It looks so pretty 🥺 I love architecture so I feel like this is a city I will love being in. I'm ready. I have already started looking at resturants, which was a positive suprise so many vegan options. ❤️2 points

After listening to the record on repeat for the last few days I have to say yes, I like it! My favorite songs at the moment are Oh My, Trash TV and Song for Myself. The only one I don’t get warm with (do you say so in English…?) is Green. Oh, and as a Billie fangirl with no PHGP experience until now I‘m surprised at how much I like Jason’s vocals!2 points
-
probably but i also wouldnt count out some insomniac/warning songs being added im also thinking that based off of past trends (AKA dropping a random song that was played constantly during one tour and either barely or never playing it again live ever like Prosthetic Head and Castaway) one of the saviors songs this tour is gonna be dropped2 points

Spent some time reading the magazine articles on this page https://web.archive.org/web/20060323050257/http://www.greendayauthority.com/TheBand/articles.php NME June 13th 2005 is the first one that calls it by name. It's a list of trivia, not an interview, so it's not the first source, but the answer won't be any later than that. edit: actually Q Magazine May 2005 calls it C&V. This one is an interview, but doesn't quite put the words "Cigarettes and Valentines" in a quotation from any band member's mouth. Hard to judge. Plenty of articles before this mention the story but none call it by name. Alternative Press Oct 2004 is the first one (listed on this page) that mentions there was a stolen album, on page 6. It's also one of the first articles of the AI era (listed on this page) to begin with. In Kerrang Jan 2003 there's talk about an album they're working on but it's not clear to me whether that's C&V or AI. None of this answers the question but hopefully gives a timeframe. Even articles also from May that mention the story don't call it C&V so I'm thinking it's right around then.2 points

this doesn't say it by name but I'm gonna go through my tapes and see if any earlier than this in sept 2004 and magazines and radio interviews. I believe they talked about it on Kevin and bean radio show the morning if release too also there was a much music from 2004 or 05 when a kid asked it about by name and about american idiot bsides2 points

So they'll be selling the same VIP packages even for smaller venues in Europe in 2025, which is pretty disappointing. I find it hard to believe they absolutely need to charge that much to make money when they can afford to get themselves and their crew all the way to Asia and Australia without selling VIP tickets. It's also really disappointing that they're still using 237 Global. I guess some people want the backstage tour, but no-one wants any of the crap that comes with the Calling All Saviors package other than the early entry, so at least use a company that can actually deliver the one thing fans are spending their hard-earned money on. Or, you know, maybe just don't sell these overpriced tickets if you vocally claim to be "punks" with lyrics like "don't want no money, don't want no fame," and let disabled fans in early so everyone gets the same opportunity regardless of what they pay or how lucky they are when it comes to their health...2 points

Macau, China! 🤯 https://www.instagram.com/stories/greenday/3484757736521464432?igsh=MWEzN2o5dGdrOGZxZw== Have they ever played in China before? I love that picture! But I understand the feeling you are trying to describe, I think. I have had that happen with other pictures or with lines in songs ("I wanna hold you like a gun, we'll shoot the moon into the sun" comes to mind, yikes, hate it, it makes sense and even the music changes right before he sings it, to draw all your attention to it... Anyways )1 point

listening to the song in who knows how long, it could kinda fit the C&V/AI sound. Kinda sounds like parts of homecoming. I think it's most likely just the JOS songs, but longer with parts that didn't make it in, but we'll see. I hope I am surprised though. If homecoming has an extra song in it, imagine if it's some song we already know from a later album and realize, wait this song was part of homecoming?1 point

I can't explain it. Ever since that picture appeared on a Rolling Stone cover I've always hated it. It just seemed so dumb to me. What did the theme have to do with 21CB? The guys even look unenthused about it! What's worse is I purchased that Rolling Stone magazine, not once, but twice. The first copy I had a ripped out all the GD pictures to plaster on my wall. I don't really do that with magazines anymore....so I had to buy another copy for my collection -_- Clearly, this hatred will be my legacy on GDC. Just write on my tombstone: Here lies The Grohl Hater of that one Rolling Stone cover and LOTAG1 point

Totally agree with you on the KFAD comment. I'd take any other 3 songs in its stead. But this is a topic that tends to split Green Day fans in two camps 😅 And yes, concerts are a great excuse for visiting a new place! Visited NYC like this back in 2009, Hamburg and Dallas this year. I've never been to any of these three cities, so they are all tempting for me. I had initially thought Lux and Ams just because they are closer, but I'm leaning for Ams and Vienna now. I'll go to Ams with my friend, so no queue because he is a fan, but not an insane one like me . I do want to be front row for at least one show though, and unfortunately that means VIP, and if I'm gonna spend that kind of money for a ticket I'd rather do it for Vienna, as it is an indoor venue so no risk of rain, storms, etc throwing things off course. Lux is so close by though that I know I might end up buying the cheapest ticket and a bus to go there in a month or two (basically by the next paycheck 😅).1 point

I had no idea this had happened, so I just googled. In case anyone else is also wondering, here's a the setlist. Pretty amazing set list!1 point

Yeah I miss that snarly bite that all their other songs have! But easily forgiven since it’s been like 16 years(?) since a new song! You can tell all the boys are in a different place than when they released the masterpiece that is carry the banner and jump slaty and Elston. And I do hear a lot more Longshot style on display. But their sincerity really comes across even after all these years! hey! if you read up on the chowchilla kidnapping, the lyrics in the song take on a whole new meaning1 point

They are not doing VIP tickets in Australia and Asia? 😲 And yeah, I'm disappointed by this too. I'm not entirely against VIP tickets, but really (1) sell only a few, (2) tell how many you are putting up for sale, and (3) make them available only through a pre-sale link. That way you limit it to fans who really cannot queue for whatever reason or are really into the stage tour, and the rest of us can know if it's worth queueing or not because we know how many of these tickets are out there. As for whether they comply with the early entrance or not, I feel some things might be venue / country specific? Like in the EU shows people with VIP tickets consistently got early entrance, while in the UK there was not the same consistency. If the VIP ticket says early entrance then it should really guarantee you early entrance, regardless of the country or venue. And vice versa, if it does not say early entrance, then they should guarantee that both groups gets access at the same time. Similar for fans with disabilities, I saw a couple of fans with disabilities go in first (before the general public but after VIP) in Paris, but I can imagine not all venues / security will be as competent, and it really shouldn't be a gamble for a disabled fan to find out on the day of the show if they are let in first or not.1 point

Sometime in 2005 if I remember right. During 2004 interviews (for example the 2004 interview which appeared in Rock Band in the following years) it's being mentioned that the masters are stolen etc but there's no naming it as Cigarettes and Valentines. But starting from 2005 (although I can't find the link at the moment) Cigarettes and Valentines name pop up and also appears in the Marc Spitz Book released in 2006 which was an authorized book by the band.1 point

They should have credited Mike for loaning them some cylinders to fire on. Album is heat🎇1 point

Yeah, there's definitely a couple I feel are Billie's (unless Aaron has a razor blade fascination too ). And they said Jason brought stuff too.1 point

You can usually tell by the phrasing and subject matter. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Nothing Ever Happens and Trash TV were 100% written by Billie. They’re structured better and no one writes as many songs about drinking alone, nostalgia and being bored 😄1 point

Absolutely planning on seeing them in Vienna. As a relatively new fan, can you tell me how fast these arena shows sell out ? Do I have to panic this Friday morning? Edit: and how does this mailing list presale work? Edit: Okay, just checked in for the mailing list. Sorry for these stupid questions. A bit nervous right now…😅1 point

It was my birthday yesterday and I am not big on birthdays, but I must say this year I feel Green Day has unknowingly (and even unwillingly perhaps 😅) given me so many gifts: the AI demos leaked on Tuesday (hence the unwilling part), PHGP releasing a new album the day before my birthday, the AI anniversary box set next week even though the real anniversary is in September.1 point
-
Regarding Panic Song (which is high on my live wish list), I remember earlier this year Mike shared an Instagram story from someone who counted all the bass chord changes (or something along those lines) in the intro of Panic Song, and that person said something like "no wonder they never play this live" and in the next story Mike said they actually have played it live but only at a couple of small shows, but that it was very physically taxing on him and Trè. This story might be recorded somewhere in the Green Day Instagram thread. I guess this is why we might never get this song life. EDIT: found the story here But I'm with you on this though, my dream Green Day tour (now that I've heard AI in its entirety live) would be one where they play a couple songs from each album, but only non-single ones. I imagine casual listeners being confused at the end of the show, "you sure these are the guys who do Boulevard of Broken Dreams?" 😂 Will never happen, but hey dreaming is for free.1 point
