Just on IG and email, 8 European dates, lost track of which is new one but this covers Florence, Vienna, Hurricane Festival, Southside, Tons of Rock, Luxembourg, Amsterdam and Athens. Hoping for more, hence new thread. https://www.instagram.com/stories/greenday/3483633224880115986?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=OGw2eXI3cncyMnV24 points

So they'll be selling the same VIP packages even for smaller venues in Europe in 2025, which is pretty disappointing. I find it hard to believe they absolutely need to charge that much to make money when they can afford to get themselves and their crew all the way to Asia and Australia without selling VIP tickets. It's also really disappointing that they're still using 237 Global. I guess some people want the backstage tour, but no-one wants any of the crap that comes with the Calling All Saviors package other than the early entry, so at least use a company that can actually deliver the one thing fans are spending their hard-earned money on. Or, you know, maybe just don't sell these overpriced tickets if you vocally claim to be "punks" with lyrics like "don't want no money, don't want no fame," and let disabled fans in early so everyone gets the same opportunity regardless of what they pay or how lucky they are when it comes to their health...4 points

You can usually tell by the phrasing and subject matter. Iβm going to go out on a limb and say Nothing Ever Happens and Trash TV were 100% written by Billie. Theyβre structured better and no one writes as many songs about drinking alone, nostalgia and being bored π4 points

Around the 19:13 mark they discuss how they write. Bits and parts that everyone works on together, bit and parts that members bring it.4 points

On this day last year (21 October 2023), Green Day played the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas, NV. More photos: 2 years ago (21 October 2022), Green Day played the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, TX. More photos: 15 years ago (21 October 2009), Green Day played The O2 in Dublin, Ireland on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 24 years ago (21 October 2000), Green Day played the Livid Festival in Brisbane, Australia. They were also interviewed. And tried and failed to tip over a car, despite getting their security guard to join in. 29 years ago (21 October 1995), Green Day played the Canadian Airlines Saddledome in Calgary, Canada on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (21 October 1994), Green Day played Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton, England on the Dookie Tour. They really did make some random stops in the UK back then. I mean, Wolverhampton? Wigan? Cambridge? Kent? It's wild to think of them playing all those places. 35 years ago (21 October 1989), Green Day played Marsugi's in San Jose, CA. 36 years ago (21 October 1988), Green Day played the Veterans Memorial Center in Davis, CA. This was John Kiffmeyer's first show. "So I just walked over to them and said, 'Can I be in your band because I don't have a band anymore?' And then Martin and Jason (from Isocracy) took off on a moped and I was in this new band. That was on a Sunday. We practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday and played our show on Friday." β John3 points

They should have credited Mike for loaning them some cylinders to fire on. Album is heatπ2 points

This is the prices for Amsterdam: https://ibb.co/NrcL3TG It got translated to Norwegian but the prices are still easy to read. π«£π Generell adgang is regular standing tickets.2 points

Ya a ormeau or Boucher date would be class Ideally before I book flights to Vienna π2 points

Yes! I hate it when bands does this. Announce everything at once damn it. We need to plan. The plan for me is Oslo, Vienna and Amsterdam. Not interested in going to more festivals or to travel somewhere with too pricey flights etc. If they announce something else in Scandinavia I'm probably going but I doubt they will.2 points

Absolutely planning on seeing them in Vienna. As a relatively new fan, can you tell me how fast these arena shows sell out ? Do I have to panic this Friday morning? Edit: and how does this mailing list presale work? Edit: Okay, just checked in for the mailing list. Sorry for these stupid questions. A bit nervous right nowβ¦π2 points

To wait and see if they come back to the UK? Or just bite the bullet and go to Amsterdam...?2 points

And now they announce solo dates for Europe, I could cry π₯Ή It's a good time to be a Green Day fan2 points

Not necessarily for this band. Billie and Jason sing everything but most lyrics are written by Aaron and they may collaborate on the music.2 points

i'm extremely drawn to 'Oh My' , 'Draw It In' , Here Goes The Neighborhood' and 'Trash TV' i really love Billie singing the chorus on Draw It In β€οΈ1 point

They are not doing VIP tickets in Australia and Asia? π² And yeah, I'm disappointed by this too. I'm not entirely against VIP tickets, but really (1) sell only a few, (2) tell how many you are putting up for sale, and (3) make them available only through a pre-sale link. That way you limit it to fans who really cannot queue for whatever reason or are really into the stage tour, and the rest of us can know if it's worth queueing or not because we know how many of these tickets are out there. As for whether they comply with the early entrance or not, I feel some things might be venue / country specific? Like in the EU shows people with VIP tickets consistently got early entrance, while in the UK there was not the same consistency. If the VIP ticket says early entrance then it should really guarantee you early entrance, regardless of the country or venue. And vice versa, if it does not say early entrance, then they should guarantee that both groups gets access at the same time. Similar for fans with disabilities, I saw a couple of fans with disabilities go in first (before the general public but after VIP) in Paris, but I can imagine not all venues / security will be as competent, and it really shouldn't be a gamble for a disabled fan to find out on the day of the show if they are let in first or not.1 point

This 100% My only hope is there will be far fewer VIPs like 20-30 per show. But probably I'm just in my delulu era.1 point

Third line is definitely "there was no need for floss"1 point

I bought a ticket for Luxembourg, too. I was pretty confused it was already possible π My plan for now is Vienna, Luxembourg and Amsterdam. Maybe the Hurricane Festival as well, but that depends on if they will sell single day tickets. I guess if they are going to add more shows it will only be festivals1 point
-
Yeah, there's definitely a couple I feel are Billie's (unless Aaron has a razor blade fascination too ). And they said Jason brought stuff too.1 point

Ugh...I thought it was Tuesday already...man, I'm not fully here today haha Thanks for explaining1 point

They didn't do Vienna, they played at Nova Rock in Austria, but as part of the festival. Since I don't go to festivals, this time around I will see them, especially with a better setlist than the 2022 tour. Edit: Can anyone explain this sentence? Either I am too dumb to understand or they have a typo: "The mailing list pre-sale for the headliners begins this Wednesday @ 10am local - the code will be sent at 11pm local tomorrow." So they start with the pre-sale in the morning and give out codes the same day but half a day later?1 point
-
I think even though it's a collaboration you can tell Aaron wrote most of the lyrics, his writing is so distinctive. Or maybe the others kind of write more to his style for PHGP1 point

For Vienna, the familiar VIP packages from 2024 will be available again, with prices ranging from β¬261 to β¬536.1 point

Oh this was an exciting email to open! It would have been even more exciting if it contained some UK dates!π I know it did say about announcing more soon, but it's hard to be patient!lol! I really hope they do a 'proper' UK show (as well as the rumoured Download festival) π€ In the meantime, I might have to give Amsterdam some thought...π€π1 point

For the pre-sale you just need to sign up for their mailing list on their website. For the pre-sale it should be alright without panicking. I mean, definitely be on the website at the time tickets go on sale, but it shouldn't be too hard to get a ticket. For the general sale, pit tickets tend to sell out quite quickly, but seats can last a bit longer (weeks to months). It could be a bit different with this tour though, as there are very few solo shows, probably lots of fans from all over Europe will be trying to get tickets for those, so it could sell out a bit faster. I am sure they will announce UK dates. I am almost sure they will even have at least one solo date in the UK. That said, why not both?1 point

I would guess a new setlist, something less taxing on them. Of all the things they have announced for next year, only the Australian shows they've explicitly said would be full album shows.1 point

Vienna, Luxembourg and Amsterdam are solo shows. Florence is a festival, plus the festivals we already knew (2 in Germany, Oslo and Athens). I hope they announce the rest of it before tickets go on sale though so we can make informed decisions.1 point

On a huge Offspring kick right now and I was looking into watching the horror film they are named after. Haven't tracked it down yet because it's tag line caught my attention. "They were born to kill" - reminds me of Baby Eyes by Green Day and I wonder if Billie was referencing that or it was a coincidence. Baby baby eyes. Baby baby I was born to.............................................................. kill.1 point

This is a good fun listen. Nothing groundbreaking, not my favorite Pinhead Gunpowder release, but has some great additions to their catalog. Lacks a bit of the punch and "snarl" that I associate with the band. 7/10.1 point

Happy birthday! And, yes, I feel like Green Day are totally spoiling us this year ( as are some other bands).1 point

Of course I got tickets immediate as they went out. It is and especially Athens, but go for it if you're going to be here anyway. Any GDCers coming that need any help or info about Athens don't hesitate to message me I'd be happy to help with any questions about the city or where to live or whatever.1 point

Schwarzenegger announced he was running for governor Aug 6 2003. MM2020 was already listed on the adeline records website Aug 1, though not available to buy until Sep 30. The album was almost certainly being mixed and mastered if not entirely completed at that point. So Governator was probably never on MM2020, but of course it was written by the same people at around the same time so it's not a surprise it shares a vibe1 point

With the US tour officially over I can say I'm so happy I made the last minute decision to go. It was an incredible night. I really do think it's a once in a life time thing and it was a great way for me to reflect on how I fell in love with the band and why I still love them. I had so much fun! I still prefer them in arenas and theaters, but I love that they put on an amazing show no matter the size of the venue. Definitely a highlight of an otherwise frustrating year for me.1 point
