  1. It’s interesting how there are no cross references yet to the concept story. No Whatshername reference in Radio Baghdad and no Jimmy references in Novacaine. I wonder at what point they decided to go with a concept record idea and drop these references in the various songs to tighten it up. The soft acoustic guitar intro was a much better choice for WMUWSE over drums, it’s interesting to hear both because where the drums gives the song a more anxious, heart pounding feel, the guitar gives it heart and melancholy. These are just what you want in demos, those early takes where you really get the evolution of the songs. I’m curious to see what versions are on the deluxe release but at least we have these now.

  5. I just bought tickets. My first ever GD concert. I am so excited! I remember back in 2005, the 10-year old me sending a message to a local greek radio station asking if they could confirm a rumor about GD planning to play a show in Greece that year😆. Now i understand that attending a live show can bring as much as joy as hearing a new record, and for fans that don΄t have this privilege, keeping the passion for the band high can be difficult. I am looking forward to this show, which i am sure will be packed with people full of special love for this band!!

  6. Not sure if anyone else noticed, but in the photos of the disc, it looks like a layer is covering up some writing on the original CDR. It looks like the date? Green Day 5-??-04 (?)

  15. Agreed, wow, the timing of this is crazy but they sound great. Weird how some bits are fully formed and others have changed a good bit. As already said, the abrupt endings are so strange!

  20. At the listening party in Watertown, MA. This album gets better and better every song! Disappointed I wanted to order the album on CD and they said it would take a couple weeks. Not everyone owns a record player I just want to play the CD in my car.

  21. London is my favorite place in the world, so the fact that Billie seems to spend a lot of time there these days makes me so happy. The image of this cute lil dorky dad rebelliously doing graffiti in the middle of the day is hilarious to me. I love him so much lol.

  22. On this day 15 years ago (16 October 2009), Green Day played Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 19 years ago (16 October 2005), Green Day played the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, TN on the American Idiot Tour. 20 years ago (16 October 2004), Green Day played the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans, LA. More photos: 31 years ago (16 October 1993), Green Day played the 86 Street Music Hall in Vancouver, Canada while supporting Bad Religion. 32 years ago (16 October 1992), Green Day played Jabberjaw in Los Angeles, CA on the Kerplunk Tour. 36 years ago (16 October 1988), Green Day played in Eggplant's backyard in Pinole, CA. "And there was this backyard party that Sweet Children played, and the kid that was filling in at the time, me and Mike were looking for a drummer, and this guy was in this crazy band called Isocracy, his name is John Kiffmeyer, and he's a couple of years older and at the time he was a veteran in that community. John, thank you. Thank you so much. I love you and God bless your family. ...John Kiffmeyer from Isocracy came up and said, 'I heard you guys were looking for a drummer. My band's breaking up and I really want to be in your band.'" — Billie Joe at Green Day's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame induction "John just decided this one day to join 'em. And that kind of broke up Isocracy. John and I had gone up to Willits to hang out with Larry and Kain and Tre, and got to know them pretty well. We came back and suddenly John had gotten hooked up with Billie and Mike. I remeber him telling me, "I got this great new band." I was like, 'Really?' 'Yeah, we're gonna be huge. The singer's a genius.' It was like, 'Okay, whatever.' John was always really full of shit about stuff. But then he started playing with them." — Jason Beebout

  23. I am fascinated by this as well! Also, there is no she/he switches in Radio Baghdad, as there are in Extraordinary Girl, i.e. "some days she feels like dying", instead of "some days he feels like dying". Meaning it was also changed latter to address the relationship between the Whastername and JoS, rather than being a one-sided song as it was in this demo. I'm obsessed. @Cooper Castille if you figure out the date written in the disk, please let us know.

  28. He needs to rip using EAC for best quality. To WAV directly. And then it should be uploaded to this site where it can be preserved We got some really great media and techy people here who can make this happen.

  30. Tried to decide my order of preference for GD albums today... its changed rather a lot since I was a teenager. Its pretty bloody difficult though... this is what I ended up with (studio albums/main releases only): 1. American Idiot (not in the least bit hipster or niche, this album is as popular as it is for a reason, it's SO FUCKIN' GOOD) 2. Insomniac 3. Warning 4. Kerplunk! 5. Dookie 6. Saviors 7. Revolution Radio 8. 21st Century Breakdown 9. Nimrod 10. Tré 11. 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours 12. Dos 13. Uno 14. Father of All.... Probably get shot by some for having nimrod so low, but idk, it just doesn't grab me. Honestly struggled with 6, 7, 8. If I was allowed to have two at 3, 4, 5, then they would be there... but that would defeat the point, so underneath they went. 🤷‍♀️

  34. I'm fascinated by this. You walk into a thrift store and find this gem, something that's been around for 20+ years. And you do it the week before the band's release of the 20th anniversary release of the album and more polished (from what I read from your comments) demos. It's just nuts. Can someone help me with Radio Baghdad ?

  39. Similar to the post above, I also have thought that if Saviors was released earlier, potentially after 21cb, this album would have received so much more mainstream attention. I remember thinking the album would spike the bands popularity due to the generally positive reviews, but I agree that rock will not ever get the same attention that it did in the early 2000s. It makes me think forward to future releases. Will Green Day continue making albums at the frequency they have in the last few decades? Will they move to sporadic single/EP releases? It’s hard to say, but what I know is that since I became a fan in 2010, this has been my favorite album BY FAR, and I’m so happy I got to experience this release cycle.

  42. @jengd, @CristhyneS and @PhuzzyPhriend thank you for this warm welcome! It helps a lot because among my family, friends and colleagues there’s no one who understands just how GREAT this band is while I recognized that at once when listening to Saviors for the first time… Discovering new Green Day things since then truly is exciting. I‘ve listened to almost all of their discography (except for Dos and FOAM, until now), watched countless YouTube videos and read through many threads here (the Billie Joe Armstrong Photo Thread helps a lot with fangirling by the way…) And I had the luck to see the boys twice on the Saviors Tour. First time was Nuremberg which was a festival but I didn’t care, I just wanted to see them. And it was great! I loved every minute of it, was even in the moshpit for some time. Three days later I saw them in Berlin and this - being a full album show - was of course even more impressive. And so the obsession began… but it makes sooo happy!!!😃

  45. I love hearing Billie talk about his early days of getting really into music. In the interview he talks about writing the names of his favorite bands on his textbooks. I did the same thing with Green Day! 🥺

  46. It was good but I was a little disappointed that they really didn’t talk about the new album at all, it was mostly stories about all their old bands and the Gilman scene. Interesting but they don’t actually talk about Pinhead much
