I haven't heard saviors for almost two months and today finally I revisited it and it felt very refreshing experience it after a while. I usually have to detox after a bit of listening any album. This has been a special album for me because it was released at the time of a culminating period of my life this year and I ussually relate green day eras with moments or phases that are being through in my life. Subjectively, I think it's the band's most solid work since 21cb and in my opinion it's superior to revrad. Commercially, the band or even any rock band will never have the success or boom from 30, 20 or even 10 years ago because the genre itself is in decline. It's very different from saying that the rock is dead because live shows prove the opposite. That being said, I think if Saviors had been released 15 or even 12 years earlier its impact would have been huge, going with AI, dookie, 21cb for deciding which is the best gd album. But, well, it's not the 90's or 00's anymore. At this point I don't care if a album is good or bad commercially, as long as the boys keep making music that they are proud of that's totally enough for me. My fav tracks, with no specific order: Fancy sauce Look ma no brains Suzie chapstick Dilemma Goodnight adeline The ones that I really hate: 1981 Coma city(it sounds like a b182 song but with better lyrics) Bobby sox and one eyed bastard are perfect for stadium live shows. and yes, I have to agree with the father to a son flop, I mean don't get me wrong, I like the song and with the release hype i felt it was gonna be the next gd massive hit but now I think they could've done better given the good melodies. I get now why they didn't choose it as a single or radio play. Anyway, I love saviors so much!4 points

I think in Cometbus or another interview Jason W said something about getting back from tour and keeping the curtains closed and being with his cats. Must be from before he remarried. The only other thing I remember about Jason W is that someone once asked him to sign a vinyl and he signed it "ebay"4 points

On this day 8 years ago (14 October 2016), Green Day played the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, CA on the Revolution Radio club tour. The most notable songs on the setlist are Brat and Private Ale. More photos: 15 years ago (14 October 2009), Green Day played Westfalenhalle 1 in Dortmund, Germany on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos (all from NaPix): 19 years ago (14 October 2005), Green Day played the Wiltern Theatre in LA on the American Idiot Tour (again). The Jesus of Suburbia video was released 19 years ago today. Nimrod was released 27 years ago today. Also 27 years ago (14 October 1997), Green Day played Basket Case and Hitchin' a Ride on the Howard Stern show. More photos: They played Hitchin' a Ride on the Late Show With David Letterman on 14 October 1997. And they also played at Don HIll's in NYC on 14 October 1997. "Green Day’s record company had a release party at a NYC club called Don Hill’s. The guys decided to play sometime around 1:00 a.m., so I moved up the front, not expecting the crowd to mosh. I was wrong. At the end of the second song, a couple of people fell on me, and as I fell onto the stage, I put my hand through a beer bottle. A piece of glass went right through my ring finger. I stood up, pulled out the glass, then freaked, thinking I had lost a finger. The band stopped the show, and the ambulance arrived quickly. I still have some nerve damage, but I can type at full speed again. And I’m semi-famous, as my injury made it to a couple of websites. A month later I saw Green Day again, without hurting my finger. They all signed my ER wrist band, and inspected the scars to make sure I was okay." — The Reynolds Archives That was a very busy day for Green Day. 30 years ago (14 October 1994), Green Day played Corso in Leuven, Belgium on the Dookie Tour. There's a bootleg CD called Burnout from this show. 32 years ago (14 October 1992), Green Day played the Anaconda Theatre in Isla Vista, CA on the Kerplunk Tour. Also added a press conference I forgot about to the 12 October post.3 points

I do wonder about the Mike and Tre. With Tres kid growing up and Mike have a few other business ventures, I wonder if the album making process will slow down. I’ll say that I have no solid reason to think they’d want to slow down, just going solely off of things I’ve thought before. Regardless, I know that Billie will most likely stay in the groove of things, whether it’s solo or with a group. He seems to be most consistent when it comes to writing/performing and all that stuff3 points

Also from the Dortmund 2009 show some Billie being Billie and coming back on stage on a stretcher Original video2 points

I‘ve read a lot of interviews in the last weeks, and I think in one of them Billie said he loved making albums. So I think they will continue making records, if just for the fun of it.2 points

Similar to the post above, I also have thought that if Saviors was released earlier, potentially after 21cb, this album would have received so much more mainstream attention. I remember thinking the album would spike the bands popularity due to the generally positive reviews, but I agree that rock will not ever get the same attention that it did in the early 2000s. It makes me think forward to future releases. Will Green Day continue making albums at the frequency they have in the last few decades? Will they move to sporadic single/EP releases? It’s hard to say, but what I know is that since I became a fan in 2010, this has been my favorite album BY FAR, and I’m so happy I got to experience this release cycle.2 points

Hey, it’s good to have different interests and if other people in your life can still be surprised by you then well done you. Be true to yourself I say.2 points

Then you had good timing to start following Green Day, because I feel there's a general consensus among fans that this tour has been really special. And with the new and old stuff being released / re-released with the American Idiot Anniversary edition... it's a good time to be a Green Day fan. And yeah I moved to France in 2018, while I was in my ten-year Green Day sabbatical, so none of my friends here, my colleagues, nor my partner saw this coming . I've been with my partner 5 years, 3.5 of those living together, and he might have heard me listening to the odd Green Day very rarely, even though I told him the stories of how into Green Day I was in my teens. And it went from that to me listening almost exclusively to Green Day since November last year. As for my colleagues I think it's a bit hard for them to reconcile how I am at work, and the type of work that we do (very nerdy stuff), with me then saying "oh by the way I'll be off tomorrow... am I doing anything fun? why, yes there's a Green Day show and I'll be going to queue early in the morning because I want to be in first row, so I'll be doing that all day.... yes, I was at a Green Day show last week too."2 points

Yeah its really hard. I took the ¿ off the front because before it wouldn't accept it without, and then it wouldn't accept it without the parentheses which I didn't think was very fair (I.e. couldn't have it not accepting Good Riddance because somebody didn't write (Time of your Life) afterwards)... its not the most flexible!1 point

Not a confession, more gossip... Anyone else notice that Billie and Mike weren't in any of Sara/Tré's wedding anniversary celebration photos? 🤔 Wonder if they were there and just didn't want to be featured... looks like Kevin, Jason F, Jason W were there...1 point

@CristhyneS Love to hear your story of getting back into the "madness". As for me, I think I confuse people with all that band merch, wearing those shirts also at my workplace (because why not?), and in conversation with frequently giving information about the band's latest activities, opinions or whatever. It' important to inform your environment about Green Day, isn't it?😉 I really hope to see them live again. They will come to Europe again next summer. For Germany it's just two festival shows until now. So I'm waiting for more tour dates or at least the release of day tickets for one of the festivals....1 point

The music world keeps getting hit with bad news about artists doing bad things. Hopefully we never get rocked with news that Tre Cool is a serial killer. Or Mike using millions of child laborers on his farm. Or that Billie Joe has been wearing a wig from the same company that Trump uses since 1999. 😬1 point

@jengd, @CristhyneS and @PhuzzyPhriend thank you for this warm welcome! It helps a lot because among my family, friends and colleagues there’s no one who understands just how GREAT this band is while I recognized that at once when listening to Saviors for the first time… Discovering new Green Day things since then truly is exciting. I‘ve listened to almost all of their discography (except for Dos and FOAM, until now), watched countless YouTube videos and read through many threads here (the Billie Joe Armstrong Photo Thread helps a lot with fangirling by the way…) And I had the luck to see the boys twice on the Saviors Tour. First time was Nuremberg which was a festival but I didn’t care, I just wanted to see them. And it was great! I loved every minute of it, was even in the moshpit for some time. Three days later I saw them in Berlin and this - being a full album show - was of course even more impressive. And so the obsession began… but it makes sooo happy!!!😃1 point

Welcome @Mollyluna and yes you are in the right place, definitely! Don’t feel sad you missed it first time, be glad you have so much to discover going back through music, interviews etc. They are a great band, very easy to love. I have been mad about them since 2009 and it’s a very long time since I was a teenager but they still make me feel like one. I also think it’s a great fandom as I have met quite a few fans now and they are so friendly and welcoming, going to a concert is truly joyful.1 point

THIS. My fangirling started when I was 13 and American Idiot came out. I drifted away over the years as I went to college and then dealt with a bunch of life disasters LOL, and then I found my way back around the start of the pandemic (Green Day was a HUGE help in getting me through the pandemic). I am 33-years-old, have a career as a college instructor, am more than halfway to a PhD, own a home, caregive for my father, and have a long-distance partner (who has also been one of my best friends for 15 years and also loves my fangirling), so I would say I turned out OK. Just let yourself love what you love; it will make your life a lot happier and more fulfilling.1 point

Feels good not to be alone in this. 😊 I just wouldn‘t have expected to become so obsessed by a band and their music after all these years. I‘m late to the party, so I‘m sad to have missed so much. But yes, there‘s really a lot to discover. I love it. I‘m glad to have found this community!1 point

Is it normal? I don't know. But you are not alone in it I'm in my 30s, in a stable relationship and with a stable job, and pretty obsessed at the moment. To be frank I came into the Green Day fandom in my teens and I was very into it for about 10 years, then I just drifted away from the Green Day world and stayed away for 10 years, and then I made my come back last year after seeing them live at Bataclan. I became reactivated quite badly and feel like a bit like a teen too And we are not alone in this either, you'll find plenty of people in the forums and in the concerts who left their teens behind a few decades ago. Where does it lead? I think it ebbs and flows. If you are fairly new to the Green Day fandom you will have a lot of catalog to discover and enjoy, so I wouldn't expect it to calm down a lot until you've done that. But I'm glad we are this way, it keeps us young at heart1 point

Yes I think this thread is right…. I‘m relatively new to the Green Day fandom, but soaking up everything I can get about them. This is obviously so intense that I‘ve begun dreaming of them at night. Also trying to listen to other music but always quickly returning to Green Day. Okay I‘m happy with all this 😀 but is this normal?? I mean I‘m middle age, long happily married, and now I feel like a teenager in love. 😂 Tell me where will this lead…?1 point

Well now that these are on YouTube I can make myself a little Demastered Playlist 😂1 point
