  1. @Saviour I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying? It’s free to enter for a chance to purchase super rare items for a very low cost. They did it in this way so everyone who wanted to buy something made in very small quantities would have an equal chance at getting them instead of random people scooping them up and putting them on eBay for $1000. This was done in collaboration with an art studio, who I imagine will get back most of the (very minimal) profits for coming up with the concept and executing on it. Everything sold will amount to like less than $5k so I seriously doubt the band will make much of anything from this. I guess if you’re suggesting they could’ve done this as a giveaway instead — yes, I suppose that could’ve been another option, but I also don’t think giving fans the opportunity to buy a collector’s item for under $50 is especially capitalistic of them. Even though they’re silly lo-fi items, I think we all know these things could sell in online marketplaces for a shit ton of money because of their exclusivity.

  2. Hey party people (at least I hope that's what those young folks today say), So I've been a fan for a while and have been collecting some stuff over the years and besides doing scans of artwork I also like to scan magazines and books. Especially this year I focused on a lot of Japanese mags I wanted to share since not too many people outside of Japan have seen these or people from outside of Germany have seen the German mags I also have. Since I always wanted to have the American Idiot tour book they did (actually "just" tour rehearsal photos and dates) and since it's AI's anniversary, I wanted to share HQ scans of those as well. Since I'm a perfectionist I edited the pictures to be as close as possible to the original mag or how it "should" look digitized, these took a lot of time and I wanted to share as much as possible at once with you. There's still stuff to scan and/or edit. Here's a short list of what's coming next: Warning Tour Book, Crossbeat 2001/12, Guitar Breakers 2004/10, Crossbeat 1995/11, Crossbeat 2000/08, Visions 2009/05, (maybe) Billboard 2009/05, etc. Well, here's the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hk68uJ_YwpQBby3nlLWhRAWU6_8vdAkE?usp=sharing Enjoy!

  3. I'd rather see unique fun stuff like this being sold than dozens of colored vinyl variants of an album. That's manufactured rarity. These really will be become rare items to own. Also, do we know exactly how many of each item they are selling? Limited quantities could be 10 or 50 or 100 or more. We can't really calculate how much they'll make without knowing that, but certainly the artists and marketing folks need to get paid.

  4. Okay, just for fun I had a look at the first listed article. It‘s from BRAVO, the quality as expected. The author describes Billie‘s clown outfit and clown behavior in detail. You get the same information just by looking at the photo next to the text. Next there‘s a description of the band‘s behavior on stage which at the time obviously consisted of „spitting like llamas“ with the crowd spitting back. Again a lot of detail here you don’t really want to know… 🤢 Finally some false background information: the guys were all expelled from their highschool in Berkeley in 1987, and Tre is two years older than Billie and Mike. Might be better if I only write here when I find a real hidden gem… 😅

  6. On this day 8 years ago (10 October 2016), Billie Joe and director Lee Kirk were interviewed about Ordinary World at AOL HQ. More photos: 14 years ago (10 October 2010), Green Day played Festival Nem Catacoa in Bogota, Colombia on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 19 years ago (10 October 2005), Green Day played a third night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on the American Idiot Tour. 24 years ago (10 October 2000), Green Day played the Valley 6 Drive-In Theatre in Seattle, WA on the Warning Tour. 29 years ago (10 October 1995), Insomniac was released. 31 years ago (10 October 1993), Green Day played First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN while supporting Bad Religion. 32 years ago (10 October 1992), Green Day were supposed to play at Club Pompeii in Spokane, WA on the Kerplunk Tour. It was cancelled by either an angry fire marshall or the police because of an acid incident.

  7. Why do they squeeze every penny out of fans here? You don’t have to pay until you win the chance to buy an item. And the prices are not that high in my opinion.

  8. Cool idea, fine - but why "enter for a chance to buy"? Why is everything a transaction? Are these dudes retiring and trying to squeeze every penny out of fans before they go or something? If these are fairly low value, and very limited edition, just make it a competition for fuck's sake. Give a little back to the people who have handed over £1000s over the years.

  9. When I have the time, I will see through all these articles. Let's see what I can find. A lot of them are from BRAVO, this was a youth magazine of... let's say not very high journalistic quality... But maybe there are hidden gems!?

  11. I’m really surprised by the negative reaction. These are just weird little collectibles that are made in tiny quantities so they’ll be super rare and cool for whoever wins them. I put my name down for a few that I thought would be cool to display. I think it’s fun, and none of them are expensive at all given how extremely limited they are.

  13. Thanks to both. I just played the videos for each item I didn’t notice all the detail. I’m really interested in the process behind this whole thing. I’d love a BTS video for how it went from concept to reality

  14. Yes, you have the number of units for each item when you inspect them. I put everything in the spreadsheet I linked above to calculate for how much everything would sell. The teddy, the fish, doorbell, the toothbrush and the answering machine are only 1 unit of each. The floppy disk has the highest number of units, with 50. The rest are in the range of 3 to 25 units. But for example, take the music box. 10 units at 19$ each, that's 190$. I have a friend in the music box business, so I just asked them about the cost of producing the music boxes. You need to make the mold from which the piece with the notes is made. A couple years ago they had a costume made mold that cost them 400$ to have made, afterwards the cost of each music box is not too high, but it really might vary with the quality. So I highly doubt the 190$ is covering the cost of making those 10 music boxes.

  15. I quite agree with @Mollyluna and @stories and songs , the price is not high at all - most items are cheaper than a tour t-shirt, which you can buy by the bulk. And yes, if any of these items end up on eBay they can for sure sell by more than 10 times their price. Weren't there people re-selling the city-specific concert patches for up to 100$? And those are way less rare. Also, I did the math (I swear I don't have as much free time as this suggests 😂) and unless I've made a mistake, everything sold will amount to less than $4K. I'm certain they are making zero money off of this. Actually most likely they threw money at this. I don't see how $4K might be enough to cover the manufacturing cost for something done in such small quantities, or for paying the salaries of the people who worked on the conception of the idea, recording of the videos, design of the website, etc. And ultimately, these are things no one really needs to be able to enjoy their music. I'll complain forever about the absurd amounts of overpriced VIP tickets they sold for European shows, and about ticket prices in the US, because those are things fans need to buy to enjoy their music (live at least). But this, deluxe editions (as all the new songs/demos are being released on spotify, youtube, etc., anyways), coffee, pickleball, etc., these are all optional.

  17. When I found out yesterday I couldn't stop laughing. I showed to my girlfriend (who doesn't like Green Day) and she laughed too. I wish I could "buy" the All By Myself music box. Now you could "masturbate" to hear the song!

  18. I was too tired last night. So 8 years ago yesterday (8 October 2016), Green Day played Webster Hall in NYC on the Revolution Radio club tour. More photos: 14 years ago (8 October 2010), Green Day played in Caracas, Venezuela for the first and only time so far on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 15 years ago (8 October 2009), Green Day played the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. 19 years ago (8 October 2005), Green Day played the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on the American Idiot Tour. More photos: 30 years ago (8 October 1994), Green Day played Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg, Sweden while supporting Bad Religion on the Dookie Tour. 31 years ago (8 October 1993), Green Day played Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit, MI while supporting Bad Religion. 32 years ago (8 October 1992), Green Day played The Cruel Elephant in Vancouver, Canada on the Kerplunk Tour. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On this day 5 years ago (9 October 2019), Green Day played 3 songs on the Howard Stern Show. More photos: The Fire, Ready, Aim music video was also released 5 years ago today. More screenshots: 15 years ago (9 October 2009), Green Day played the Forum in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 19 years ago (9 October 2005), Green Day played a second night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on the American Idiot Tour. 23 years ago (9 October 2001), Tune in, Tokyo was released. 24 years ago (9 October 2000), Green Day played 6 songs on KROQ's Kevin & Bean Breakfast in LA. There's audio on YouTube (although it doesn't include Brat). 30 years ago (9 October 1994), Green Day played the Globen Annexet in Stockholm, Sweden while supporting Bad Religion on the Dookie Tour. 31 years ago (9 October 1993), Green Day played the Riviera Theatre in Chicago, IL while supporting Bad Religion. They also played there in 1997. "I met Al [Sobrante] when I booked his band the Ne'er Do Wells and The Shatners (Star Trek cover band). He was a super nice guy and hilarious. The night I booked the Ne'er Do Wells and the Shatners at No Palace Studios on Division and Wood Street, now a trendy hot spot, but in 1993 still a hot bed of crime and gangbangers, Green Day was playing the Riv with Bad Religion and ALL. Al found out about the show and he wanted me to drive him over, so he could picket the show, since Green Day recently signed to a major label. I couldn't tell if he was serious or joking, but I got the feeling he wanted to do it as more of a joke. Plus, how odd would it be to see Green Day's former drummer outside a Chicago show with a sign making fun of the band, although I don't think the kids would know who he was." — Mike Byrne This was so nice to read. Thanks for sharing

  20. I created a Green Day songs quiz on Sporcle... You've got 22 minutes to name all their songs from studio albums as well as uniquely named bonus tracks that appear all over the place, b-sides, and standalone singles. Nothing appears twice so the demoes (like Black Eyed Susan) aren't on there, because imo they went on to become something else... it only lists things that were actually released "as is." Hope that makes sense. Anyway, you've got 22 minutes to try and name 222 songs... let me know how you get on. I'll play and probs get about 50% even though I created the damn thing. https://www.sporcle.com/games/vesper_93/green-day-songs

  21. @pacejunkie punk Under each item, they do list how many have been made. There’s only one of the bear, doorbell, and fish, three of the HitClips, etc. Some of the cheaper items have slightly higher quantities — there’s like 50 of the floppy disk, and I believe that’s the highest quantity. @CristhyneS did the math in their lil spreadsheet!

  24. According to Deezer, the track durations are: 11 Homecoming (Nobody Likes You) - 10:18 12 Everyone's Breaking Down - 3:51 13 Just Another Year - 1:55 14 Lowlife - 3:44 So Homecoming must be the whole song with all the "bits" and the other three looks like new songs. But, until a few days, we can't be sure. About the C&V songs, I was expecting those songs too, maybe for a 30th anniversary, maybe they could re-record them. They had the balls to release the Mother of all...and I think that's a worse album than C&V (even without hearing the album, as I don't think they liked it either, as no songs from the album featured in the Hella Mega Tour), but that's just my opinion

  28. Some of these are really funny, they’re unique collectibles if nothing else. Love the doorbell and the player piano roll. That Big Mouth Billie Bass is going to be popular, some of these are less desirable if they require players you don’t have

  31. It’s a collab, idk what you all were expecting, it’s not like this is something they dreamed up just for the sake of it. It’s quite creative actually, props to the team who did come up with it. Just a bit of fun really it makes me laugh when people complain about this sort of thing like they’re obligated to buy it 🤣

  34. Wondering if there'll be some kind of concert again? In 2019 we got the Seville show around the EMAs, last year we got the Bataclan show. So maybe something in Manchester this year? 🤔 Wishful thinking, I know 😅
