On this day 8 years ago (5 October 2016), Green Day were interviewed about Revolution Radio on SiriusXM, from which we got this picture: More photos: 15 years ago (5 October 2009), Green Day played in Cologne, Germany on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. 19 years ago (5 October 2005), Green Day played in Phoenix, AZ on the American Idiot Tour. 24 years ago (5 October 2000), Green Day played 4 songs at WBCN-FM Studios. Tre hurt his finger while playing Blood, Sex & Booze and had to go to the hospital. 31 years ago (5 October 1993), Green Day played the Metropolis in Montreal, Canada while supporting Bad Religion. 32 years ago (5 October 1992), Green Day played Harpo's in Victoria, Canada on the Kerplunk Tour. "I remember that I had a bunch of money in my hands and Tre ran up and grabbed it and ran away and I thought 'I guess that is what the band is getting paid tonight.' Then they proceeded to hang around town for a few days." — Marcus Pollard3 points

With Election Season upon us in the US, I’ve been digging Revolution Radio a lot. It’s a bit better than my recollection had colored it. I still don’t think it hangs together as an album as well as some other Green Day records but it’s chock full of great songs. I think I’m still impressed by how good Forever Now is. That feeling of an Autumn full of trepidation where the outcome of an election could plunge us into the unknown really adds to the atmosphere of RevRad. Perhaps it’s an unusually timely album?2 points

I wasn't aware of the duration of Jesus demo, but this time I find it interesting. Like the other demos, many things sounds like the final released versions, but there are bits that I like. Now looking at the duration of the full tracklist, Homecoming must contain all the songs, but Jesus only has Jesus. The other songs were composed in the studio then?1 point

There have been so many great reviews of the tour that I stopped sharing them but this is a really good, if unemotionally written, one from Forbes which I thought made some great points. Green Day’s North American Saviors Tour Finishes Strong In San Diego (forbes.com). Annoyingly I can't get this to work as a link.1 point

KYE was also on NHL 10 lol. Cool that their music makes it on there. Bad about the censorship though. They also have to censor every sort of violent element lyric-wise cause the NHLPA frowns on it. Otherwise the game wouldn't be rated Everyone. When Coheed and Cambria was on the NHL 09 soundtrack they edited out the word "Bleed". Same with Pilate when they were on 2 years prior. They had the word "Gun" edited. It sounds ridiculous lol. Idk. Back in the day pre NHLPA, NHL 94 had blood on it lol. It's a violent sport with fighting. They took all the blood out of the games since then. 🥲1 point

It's not even the same drum rhythm/beat. Tré plays it different to the final song. It's clearly not musiscians coming up with comments like this... That's for sure 😪1 point

I liked hearing this as a shorter song but these demos overall are not that interesting. Got to give fans more to pay $100 for something like this.1 point

DAWs, editing and quantizing was industry standard in 2004. These dudes aren't laying takes down onto DAT or reel-to-reel. That doesn't mean to say I'm right of course. But still, my point is it sounds very similar. Definitely from the same sessions and not different enough to be very interesting at all IMO. I hope to be proved wrong, but at the moment this edition is sounding like an absolute rinse for the absurd prices some people have paid.1 point

I'm so happy that JoS turned into a 10min song.1 point

They dropped "3 new songs" from the deluxe. Which? Was one Shoplifter which has been out for 20 years? 😆 Like the other demos from this release, absolutely whelmed by the JoS one. Sonically it sounds very similar again. Pretty sure it's the same drum take that made it into the final version and they've done pickups for the ending section. Same for the majority of the guitars. The only interesting thing about it was the chord not going to an F after the second drum fill which was a curve ball after 20 years of listening to it. They're hardly "demos" in the way that we got with Demolicious. These are just unfinished versions of the final releases.1 point

I feel the same way. It’s not hard for me to get emo over my history with Green Day, but this tour made me especially nostalgic and appreciate why they’re so special to me and how long they’ve been in my life. It was such a fun, good vibes tour and I feel so lucky that I got to attend. Of course I also love more intimate shows, but there was something really incredible about seeing tens of thousands of people moving and singing in unison on Billie’s command. Billie and the entire band are so fucking good at their jobs and I’m so proud to be a fan.1 point

With the US tour officially over I can say I'm so happy I made the last minute decision to go. It was an incredible night. I really do think it's a once in a life time thing and it was a great way for me to reflect on how I fell in love with the band and why I still love them. I had so much fun! I still prefer them in arenas and theaters, but I love that they put on an amazing show no matter the size of the venue. Definitely a highlight of an otherwise frustrating year for me.1 point

If they stay away from these combined shows, then I think this is definitely plausible. However, I have a hunch that this formula will stick around for the next tour because, frankly, it works. After 21CB, they stopped touring at larger stadiums, and having these shared shows allows them to sell out larger venues more easily. With that happening, I assume they will probably go back to the 20-song sets they did during Hella Mega1 point

Green Day is everywhere since Saviors. Can't remember when was the last time the media, TV, movies, radio, etc... talked about them this much. Good or bad I don't care Green Day is everywhere this year. And let's be honest, when it's bad it's not that bad (trump mask, vegas radio, USA residency) They're doing awards shows, got song on a video game, they did a sport event last november, late night show... name it. They're everywhere baby!1 point
