I can't get over how good Billie looks in that Marshall headphones ad! The hair, that cute little expression at the end of the ad, everything7 points

Me: it’s been 7 years since I’ve seen this band live but I’m not going to get emotional Also me: tears up during the start of Bohemian Rhapsody. 😂 Phenomenal show. More tomorrow, have to try to get a bit of sleep before waking up in 5 hours to catch our flight home!7 points

Found a photographer who'd taken some shots at one of the coffee tastings. Green Day used some in their own post but not these https://www.instagram.com/p/DAENwR5RO-r/?igsh=MWd6b295aGg5ZDVhMA== @CristhyneSnot sure if this is the one you attended?4 points

My wife and I went to the event and the KTVU broadcast was incorrect. They stated that about 200 people were in the crowd, but we overheard a security guard saying that 530 VIP lanyards were handed out and no one new would be allowed in the event area when someone was trying to access it without a lanyard. Obviously not everyone could stay until Green Day arrived, but more than 200 people were there for their arrival and numerous people without lanyards were waiting in undesignated areas. Also, KTVU called it "Punky" Bunny Coffee. We bought two small bags of the medium roast coffee from 7-11 after it was over and the crowd had dissipated. Right after I picked up a bag of coffee, I heard someone behind me say, "I can't believe people are buying this shit." I turned around and saw that it was one of the people who worked the merch event table. She looked at me, shook her head, and then laughed. This partially explains why the event was so disorganized. My wife worked as an event planner and would have been fired for organizing an event like this. They even kept the mayor waiting over 2 hours! One person fainted from the heat and after that the event staff decided to hand out water, but it wasn't enough for everyone in the crowd. The good part was interacting with the fans in the crowd, singing together before Green Day arrived, and being able to say that I saw them spray paint the wall. If you make your spotify region set in Japan, you will be able to access the separated tracks on American Idiot, looks like not many people are onto it with how little listens they have so far2 points

lol yeah I was thinking of attending this. I live less than 15 minutes away. Having met Billie before, I was like damn this may be a shot to meet the whole band. But then I thought it’s going to be wild. The amount of fans in that tiny lot. It’s going to be jammed. And also feared that something of the sort may happen (the disorganization) So I decided not to lol. Guess I’m glad I didn’t haha. Besides, I already met the guy himself. And that was before a sound check, and it was literally just me and like two other people who shared the experience. Way more intimate. Less screaming. Less shoving. You know all that good stuff haha 😌 But I’m glad some people had fun. And the boys have been immortalized in their old stomping grounds.2 points

I’m not sure who would want to hear this, but I just checked tonight and American Idiot has been mixed and released in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music ….it sounds incredible. There’s so many little details in this version that you simply don’t hear as well or at all in any other version. Highly recommend for AI fanatics like myself2 points

What an asshole 😠 Did they work for the store or PBC? It’s just coffee for god sakes. You’re not being scammed into buying NFTs or gold sneakers.1 point

Yes, this is the one in Arlington! I remember when that last shot was taken and thinking "Yep, I'm not going to be in this shot" lol. I should be one or two people to the side of the guy in right most part of the picture. BTW, some photographer took a picture of me and my sister while we were taking this selfie . I have kept an eye out for it, but haven't seen it shared anywhere. If anyone comes across it please let me know, I'd really appreciate!1 point

Green Day receives key to the city in Bay Area hometown of Pinole https://abc7news.com/post/green-day-receives-key-city-bay-area-hometown-pinole/15341737/? Green Day returns to town where punk rockers went to school, 7-Eleven behind the music https://www.ktvu.com/video/15204571 point

Yes I would love to see Green Day again in the arena shows with one opening act. Tired of these festivals with multiple acts. I saw Green Day in SF and just went to see them not caring about the others.1 point

Today (23 September 2024), Green Day are playing in Seattle, WA on the Saviors Tour. On this day 7 years ago (23 September 2017), Green Day played the Global Citizen Festival in NYC. More photos: 27 years ago (23 September 1997), Green Day performed Hitchin' a Ride on Canal+ in Paris, France. They also played the Élysée Montmartre in Paris that day. 30 years ago (23 September 1994), Green Day played the Expo Hall in Tampa, FL on the Dookie Tour. "They caused $1.4 million in damage and weren't allowed back to Tampa for the Insomniac Tour." — DcHewlett 31 years ago (23 September 1993), Green Day played The Edge in Fort Lauderdale, FL while supporting Bad Religion. 35 years ago (23 September 1989), Green Day played the River Theater in Guerneville, CA. "They were the first of three bands to play that night. They all had long hair and flannel shirts. I ended up with their demo tape and saw them a few more times in high school around the Bay Area." – Bugs Thank you for looking at this thread and GDC! I'm so glad it's bringing back memories for people1 point

I just think it’s so ironic. What would Billie’s teachers say now, the ones who were disgusted with him for never showing up to class and dropping out? Ofc they had bigger success than this as a band for decades but I find it particularly hilarious that the kid known as Two Dollar Bill who did no work, was stoned all the time, dropped out halfway through senior year and hung at his brother’s house who was the high school custodian would one day be given the key to the city 😂 No one could have predicted it and the school’s high achievers would say there’s no justice 🤣🤣1 point

Looks like Green Day are receiving the key to the city of Pinole at this event today if this is correct (Post is from someone who was a member of GDC back in 2010-2011 and who I met at the Broadway musical) Pic of Billie at the 7/111 point

Dolby atmos version sounds pretty interesting. Doesn't beat the 2009 180g vinyl re-issue or 2012 HDTracks masterings though. I think those are still the best this album has ever sounded imo. EDIT: Give Me Novacaine and She's a Rebel sound incredible though. That sweet sweet bass1 point

The Nimrod 25th Anniversary (just like the album itself) was underrated. There's at least some differences and unreleased material there that I'm worried we won't get with this set. I'm so fascinated by the era of Insomniac/Nimrod/Warning because there's so much there to be discovered. I feel like we got everything when Idiot came out even if it wasn't "officially" released.1 point

He mentions in the video that he's friends with John Roecker and that he's the one who sent the package to him.1 point

I imagine it's probably originally because he might have thought it too raw to keep performing it with the lyrics about his dad but eventually it just wasn't potent enough without?1 point

WMUWSE's demo isn't as good as Holiday/BOBD's imo. That version of the songs, even if it's very similar to the final product, seems like a version of those songs that I could see myself preferring over the album version. But still interesting to hear the new WMUWSE demo even if it's definitely not as good as the final product. The line about Billie's dad not being there also surprised me, would have assumed that was there from the start. It's ok to be disappointed that these demos aren't more different but remember the band can only take what they have, there's probably a limited amount of demos that are decent enough quality to be released. I'd probably expect some of the non-single demos to be somewhat different from their final versions but it also makes sense for the band to be releasing the demos for the big singles first.1 point

I just wish we had an acoustic demo of this song. I want to hear it raw on a single guitar when he first wrote it, not a full band version ready to record. That’s what’s cool about demos, hearing the evolution of the song. This is mostly there already apart from the lyrics. I want acoustic demos of everything1 point
-
I can hardly believe the lyrics about his dad aren’t in this, it’s still a great song but those additional lyrics really make a difference imo! I feel that change really elevates the song. I’m stunned it’s not there.1 point

I recently listened to Saviors from top to bottom and I still love it six months later. Some songs I've cooled on like Father to a Son, but overall the album is still fantastic and is their strongest work in a while. Glad that the album still resonates months after its release.1 point

Monthly Spotify update. Looks like Dilemma got a nice bump from the beginning of the American tour. And Good Night Adeline and Suzie Chapstick are still holding their own in comparison to the other songs post track 5. And side note- Basketcase has been averaging over 900,000 listens a day, whereas it's normally around 500-600,000. And Good Riddance has had a nice bump from Deadpool, and is getting around 800,000 a day compared to its usual 300-400,000.1 point

Even worse in Pittsburgh, they stopped into the downtown 7-11 without telling anybody and I was a few blocks away at the time and only found out later0 points
