  2. I just think it’s so ironic. What would Billie’s teachers say now, the ones who were disgusted with him for never showing up to class and dropping out? Ofc they had bigger success than this as a band for decades but I find it particularly hilarious that the kid known as Two Dollar Bill who did no work, was stoned all the time, dropped out halfway through senior year and hung at his brother’s house who was the high school custodian would one day be given the key to the city 😂 No one could have predicted it and the school’s high achievers would say there’s no justice 🤣🤣

  5. On this day 2 years ago (22 September 2022), Green Day played Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL. More photos: 7 years ago (22 September 2017), Billie Joe performed Ordinary World on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. More photos: 8 years ago (22 September 2016), the Still Breathing lyric video was released. 13 years ago (22 September 2011), Green Day played a secret show billed as a "Bay Area Music Fan Appreciation Event" at 1-2-3-4 GO! Records in Oakland, CA. A fan asked them to play Fuck Time again and Billie replied, "I'm old now. I can only do Fuck Time once." More photos: 20 years ago (22 September 2004), Green Day played Park Place in NYC on the American Idiot Tour. 27 years ago (22 September 1997), Green Day played in Cologne, Germany on the Nimrod Tour. 29 years ago (22 September 1995), Green Day played the Manchester Apollo in (you guessed it) Manchester, England on the Insomniac Tour. "We had standing tickets so were very near to the front throughout the whole night. The support band, Riverdales, were very good and finished with a cover of the Ramones song Blitzkrieg Bop in which Billie Joe came out to sing. Green Day started off with Welcome to Paradise and from that point on the mosh pit went mental! Remember, this was my first standing gig, but I did not feel threatened at all, as Billie Joe kept telling the crowd to pick people up. I think this was the last tour when Tre Cool picked up the guitar to play All By Myself and Dominated Love Slave. Considering Kerplunk was the album before Dookie, it was strange seeing so many blank faces when they played songs from this album. I don't really remember much of the set (it was mostly from Dookie) but we were treated to hear three songs from their next album, Insomniac (Geek Stink Breath, Stuck With Me, Jaded). For their encore Billie Joe switched from his trademark guitar, Blue, to a nice Cherry Red Gibson SG which, after the final song, Jaded, he threw into the air to smash the damn thing to pieces. Tre also wrecked his drums and a lucky kid got to take the bass drum home and someone else got half a guitar. All in all, it was a brilliant night, my first experience of a a proper mosh pit and my first taste of Green Day live! If only they could have stayed the way they were in '95. On the coach home I was accused as being a know-it-all by a complete stranger who had asked what Green Day's drummer was called, so I told them and then received the insult..." — fan experience 31 years ago (22 September 1993), Green Day played in Jacksonville, FL while supporting Bad Religion. It really was. I’ll be the first to say that not everything is as it seems in the entertainment industry, but that was true friendship there. I hadn't actually thought about that before either. I don't think anyone did at the time. Incredible recovery! Thanks for looking! Doing my best to keep people looking at good old GDC. Can't believe an internet forum means so much to me but here we are.

  6. Today (23 September 2024), Green Day are playing in Seattle, WA on the Saviors Tour. On this day 7 years ago (23 September 2017), Green Day played the Global Citizen Festival in NYC. More photos: 27 years ago (23 September 1997), Green Day performed Hitchin' a Ride on Canal+ in Paris, France. They also played the Élysée Montmartre in Paris that day. 30 years ago (23 September 1994), Green Day played the Expo Hall in Tampa, FL on the Dookie Tour. "They caused $1.4 million in damage and weren't allowed back to Tampa for the Insomniac Tour." — DcHewlett 31 years ago (23 September 1993), Green Day played The Edge in Fort Lauderdale, FL while supporting Bad Religion. 35 years ago (23 September 1989), Green Day played the River Theater in Guerneville, CA. "They were the first of three bands to play that night. They all had long hair and flannel shirts. I ended up with their demo tape and saw them a few more times in high school around the Bay Area." – Bugs Thank you for looking at this thread and GDC! I'm so glad it's bringing back memories for people

I hope I'm wrong

  13. Now that we know they will be in Europe next summer, every day that goes by without them officially announcing more dates I am happy because it's a day I am closer to saving some money again so I can buy tickets when do announce it 😅 Amen. They sold out almost every show in Europe this summer. Surely they will have the sense to see they can sell out some arena shows again next year? 🤞🏻

  17. If anyone is willing to try and grab a spare patch for this show I’d take it 🙏 and would also pay for shipping to the UK of course! Also, my friend has asked if I’d put the word out for a queue buddy - she’s aiming to be there for about 9.30/10am, she’s on her own having flown all the way from England and is feeling a bit anxious about it! Her name is Squiggs, I told her the fandom are great and will look after her!

  22. Wow, @greenday hometown shows are always the best shows. Last night was simply amazing. One of their best performances that I ever saw. I’m so happy that I finally got to see Dookie performed front to back. An album that changed my life when I first heard it back in 1994 when I was 10 years old and I have been a Green Day fan ever since. Happy 30th anniversary to Dookie. Plus, it was so special to watch American Idiot performed front to back on the 20th anniversary that legendary album was released (September 21st, 2004). Thank you @billiejoearmstrong for the personal invite to the concert and thank you for the chat. One of these days I hope we can record an in-depth conversation by way of an interview for @1077thebone. 😉 Thank you @mikedirnt for hanging out and the power hug, lol. One of these days we need to go see @jokoy live. Thank you @annabiotix for the friends and family passes. So much fun to reconnect and meet members of the Green Day extended family. Last night was a night I will never forget. Good times. https://www.instagram.com/p/DAMBFvXSPtS/

  25. Not sure this warrants it’s own thread, it might be wrong, but looks like GD could be doing Donnington next year. https://www.facebook.com/100080125005156/posts/pfbid02YpCzSh6TKkFE58KYc7ZtrKKi8pLMxujuqsUeTYKTHgDqi5goL1Vf4VaFi8oUzBPql/? I have also seen that they are being heavily tipped for Glastonbury but that’s becoming an annual event 😂😂

  34. Never was a fun of those "Dolby vision" versions etc. I like to hear the music through good open back headphones as it was supposed to be from the band. I understand how the concept is cool though. The anniversary album still isn't available for me on apple music though do we know in how many hours it's supposed to be out or is my app glitched?

  35. I’m not sure who would want to hear this, but I just checked tonight and American Idiot has been mixed and released in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music ….it sounds incredible. There’s so many little details in this version that you simply don’t hear as well or at all in any other version. Highly recommend for AI fanatics like myself

  37. Last Night On Earth is just a beautiful song regardless of what music you like. It reminds me of The Beatles song Something by George Harrison. This should have been a single especially in 2009 this could have been a huge crossover hit IMO.
