I love Billie standing up for their entire disocraphy when it's mentioned that people thought Green Day were "past their prime" back in the day. "They were wrong" - and then he and Tre talk about the measure of success. You sell 10 million and then 5 million looks bad. Let it be known, Green Day don't have any albums that were massive failures and here's some positive facts about their most hated albums: Uno deputed at #2 on billboard. Dos came in at #9 on billboard and got the highest average reviews of the Trilogy. Tre got generally positive review from critics, deputed at #13 at X-Kid reached #36 in the charts. and FOAM - its debuted at #4, it's their 11th top 10 album and again, and as today it's streaming numbers are over 140 Millionish. Even Green Day's lows are making millions.11 points

On this day 7 years ago (8 September 2017), Green Day played the Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, TX on the Revolution Radio Tour. This was the first show we went to on the American summer tour and it was one of my favourite shows of the whole tour. It was kind of a miracle that we got there at all. I’ll let @Rumpelstiltskin2000 tell her potential-near-death-experience story, but I was also a victim of my travel plans: a bus from Nottingham to London, a flight from London to Belfast, another flight from Belfast to Providence, a train to Boston, a flight to Dallas and finally, a $1 Megabus to Austin. It took over 72 hours. I think I only slept for an hour until we arrived. It was the only way we could afford it. We actually went sightseeing in the hours we had in Dallas and then in Austin once we’d slept. Pre-pandemic me was made of different stuff. Sadly I never finished my recap and without watching videos my memory of the show is foggy, but I did finish writing the story of our arrival: I remember the queue quite well. We got there at about 10AM, but a friend had camped out with a skunk and coyotes howling in the distance. There were some lovely people there – a bloke who carried all our luggage to his car because the hotel wouldn't store it and a lady with her dad who kept bringing us ice lollies. The run from the gates to the pit was like a whole mile and it was HOT. I was actually fit then but like almost everyone else, I just gave up and walked. I think we ended up about 10 people out from Mike, which I was thrilled with considering that I was not expecting to sprint a mile in 35ºC or whatever it was. Another thing I remember is how special it was to see Green Day in Austin. It's a personal story that's only relevant because it's the Green Day Effect (and CW: loss), so I'll stick it in another spoiler. I also know I was talking about this show when I wrote: “When I listen to audio of Forever Now from the shows I went to I can still feel how sore my throat was from singing all night and then singing that even louder. But most of all I can still feel my lungs about to burst as I screamed ‘I AIN’T GONNA STAND IN LINE NO MORE!’ and the barrier shaking as I jumped until I couldn’t breathe. Then throwing up both of my arms to the pyros at the end.” After the show, Rumpel was taking a photo of me when the security guard in front of us tapped me on the arm and said he'd "never seen anyone so into a show" and it actually made him emotional, so he wanted me to have his setlist. First time I ever got a Green Day setlist. I don't remember getting Mike's pick but that must have come from that guy too. I can't throw or catch to save my life, so I doubt I caught it. ANYWAY! Here are some more photos of the show. I didn't take any. The Too Dumb to Die lyric video was also released on 8 September 2017. 19 years ago (8 September 2005), Green Day played Boulevard of Broken Dreams at the NFL Kickoff. More photos: 24 years ago (8 September 2000), Green Day were on MTV. They were interviewed and played 9 songs (although five of them were Minority). 29 years ago (8 September 1995), Green Day played (setlist incomplete) in Munich, Germany on the Insomniac Tour. More photos: This photoshoot was also done that day. And 30 years ago (8 September 1994), Green Day attended the MTV VMAs. They performed Armatage Shanks for the first time and won the New Artist, Alternative Video and Group awards.5 points

This is a condensed version of what happened to me before leaving for a few shows on the RevRad USA summer 2017 tour that @solongfromthestarsis talking about above and which is from the "We are Revolution Radio" book of fan stories that she put together. I actually can't believe I did that now!3 points

Could it even be an abbreviation of "until next time"? Probably more likely an inside thing3 points

Hype for UNO was huge amongst fans. Still holds a place in my heart just for the nostalgia factor and marketing.2 points

I categorize this stuff into the same group that I would place guitar players who can play super technically and insanely fast. Impressive, but I would never want to listen to that lol2 points

I feel like maybe it's an onomatopoeic word, like it's a grunting noise like a caveman would make or something? Or could just be an inside thing.2 points

Not entirely sure what it means, but Aaron used the word "Unt" a lot in his zines. Not in a phrase, but as a way to sign off or something. PHGP also used that word before in Benicia By The Bay, at the end they just go "And go and feed the grebes / Unt, unt, unt"2 points

Buy it from your local record store if possible. I went in today to preorder and they gave me the Unt flexi for free. I paid under $29 including tax. 1234 Go posted a list of stores with the red vinyl flexi so check that to see if any are near you.1 point

Walking near my house, heard someone working on their car, blaring from their garage is "Jesus of Suburbia" - I went over to say nice song bla bla bla great band. Guy emerges who I've seen before, big dude, face tattoos, mohawk, scary looking mofo, but we chatted nice enough. He had three dogs, a pug, a westie type, and a jack Russell. Two of them were called "pickle" and "munchkin" Scary looking dude with pickle the pug. Love it. 😅😊1 point

Last Night On Earth had a daily peak on spotify, which is so interesting to me. Yesterday it had 134,881 streams, currently at 77,250,264 in total. Daily streams superior than any single on 21st Century Breakdown (except for 21 Guns), Warning, Revolution Radio, Trilogy and Saviors. Interesting how algorithm works.1 point

Green Day gets to Milwaukee early, enjoys Lakefront Brewery fish fry Lakefront's own resident punk rock musician and aficionado Andy Junk (aka the brewery's Export Manager Andy Jungwirth) posted the above photo with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong on Facebook. "I was on my way out the door at Lakefront and some coworkers flagged me down and were like, Is that Green Day?'," Jungwirth posted, noting that the band was enjoying the beer hall's beloved fish fry, a little after 5 p.m. Friday, at the brewery, 1872 N. Commerce St. "I immediately went into the fact that I flew to Berkeley to see a Pinhead Gunpowder reunion show (referring to a band Armstrong is in). He asked 'At Gilman Street?' and I said 'No, at Starry Plough in 2000.' and just left him alone to enjoy dinner." https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/green-day-lakefront This Green Day's Overlooked B-Side Could Easily Be One of the Band's Greatest Songs: Here's Why With the 20th anniversary of Green Day's iconic "American Idiot" album fast approaching, they've started putting out some new tracks to celebrate. While we'll have a lot of coverage of that album closer to the big day, one of the recent releases warrants some discussion here on Ultimate Guitar. "Favorite Son" was the first unreleased track to be unveiled, though many of us are still awaiting new releases of "Governator," "Shoplifter," and "Too Much Too Soon." What makes "Favorite Son" so distinct, though, is how thoroughly punk and seemingly outside of the "American Idiot" storyline it is. You can easily see why the band opted to take it off the album, as the title track kind of serves this purpose as the bombastic barn burner. But that unfortunate decision will luckily no longer prevent most of us from enjoying this tune any longer. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/articles/features/this_green_days_overlooked_b-side_could_easily_be_one_of_the_bands_greatest_songs_heres_why-168972 Green Day tribute coming to Sioux City Hard Rock SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Sioux City Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is paying homage to the 20-time Grammy-nominated punk legends Green Day with the tribute act “NOT.
