  1. I went to the Milwaukee show last night. It was fine, but the Wrigley show was better. There were at least 100, 150 maybe VIPs who got in before the GA crowd, so if you weren't VIP, it was almost impossible to make barricade. I always go for the catwalk, but since I never get decent pics of Kevin, decided to go for the main stage since I viewed this show as my "bonus" concert. Got second row behind a 18 ft tall guy, so not the best view. I was also several rows to the side of the catwalk, so not the best pics of Billie either. I was around mostly nice people, but a fight did break out behind me at one point and security also intervened with someone else who was causing problems. I did meet the blue haired girl who got onstage at Wrigley during KYE. She was behind me in line, so we became line buddies. A few pics that turned out okay- And once again, I prove myself queen of the Billie mid gum spit shot Catwalk only from this point on! I didn't even get any pics of Kevin that were all that great.

  3. Brutal Love is one of those songs that makes me melt and gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. I'm so lucky I got to experience it live at my very first Green Day show!

  5. Wow this video of Brutal Love just came up as a reminder of the Brixton show in 2013 on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/v/vdC1S55JDe43NX9S/

  6. This was supposed to be my first Green Day concert. I was still living in Venezuela, there was no hope in sight that they'd ever play a show there, and my eldest sister lived in Miami at the time, which wasn't too far from this venue. I was turning 15 that year and I made a budget to prove to my family that taking me to this Green Day concert was cheaper than a quinceañera party which are traditionally done when a girl turns 15, or a quinceañera cruise which is a cruise full of other 15 year old girls 😂 (both of which sounded like a nightmare to anyways). So I convinced them. We bought the tickets, I was gonna fly there with my other sister and go to the concert with her. But hurricane Katrina passed through Florida on the day we were gonna fly there, so all flights were cancelled, and we ended up flying to Miami only the day after the show. I was heart broken, I had counted down the days to the show for months and now I had missed it. I really cannot express how devastated I was over this. The story has a happy ending though, but in a few days time haha. Also, I was just at Rock en Seine this Saturday. I didn't know Green Day had ever played there, it's a bit hard to imagine them there for some reason.

  9. I think you were right behind me. I was not the 18ft. tall guy (lmao) but the guy in the white cutoff Ramones shirt. We spoke, but didn’t realize you were also on GDC! Agreed that the Chicago show was better. That’s not to say that anything was wrong with the Milwaukee show - I’ve seen plenty of comments from folks saying the Milwaukee show was the best concert they’ve ever seen - but when you’ve seen Green Day as many times as we have, certain shows just seem to have a special energy about them, something in the air, something intangible, and I think Chicago had that and Milwaukee did not. Still, the band sounded as good as ever. I believe their current live performance is the best since the 21st Century Breakdown Tour, which in my opinion, was the absolute peak Green Day live era. Billie’s range seems to be better than in recent years, and he’s hitting notes in some songs that literally made me say “wow” at the show. Whatever he’s doing to preserve his voice (Hershey cancellation notwithstanding), it’s working. I’m sure we’ll see each other at another show in the future and I’ll have to introduce myself properly next time. Someone already posted my video of Basket Case in the Milwaukee thread, so here’s American Idiot:

  14. Ill try to simplify it as much as I can xD In the summer of ‘02 I moved houses and basically spent the entire time on kid friendly internet chats and forums where kids debated GD Vs Blink all summer long. I knew of Green Day briefly but was more interested in prog rock and classic rock and 70s punk at the time. I did listen to some Sum 41 and Jimmy Eat World at the time though so I had a reference point. 2 years later, I’m 12 studying multiple instruments but can’t seem to find a modern band that is my own that I can look up to and then the AI music video is on while I flip on my TV. My jaw dropped and I stood there completely shook. I go back into my comfort zone and 2 months later I hear BOBD on TV again and oh shit it’s these guys again! Holiday comes out and where I camped in the summer it was played during dances and it became a ritual for all of us there. Wake me up when september ends dropped and I heard it during a hurricane katrina tribute and I bought the album. Then I land on JOS and Bullet in a Bible. It just got incrementally more influential. My friends had older siblings and they introduced me to Dookie. Burnout made me flip shit (for all the right reasons). Then I got Intl Superhits. Then I got into Kerplunk and 39 smooth via online fansites and the pinole valley show. In that time I also saw VH1 storytellers, AOL sessions and many many other features of Green Day whether it was the grammys or some local show etc. It just got incrementally better and better the more I worked backwards and at the same time my playing became better and it gave me a reference point to become a creative musician. For me they were the perfect mix of that modern influence I needed, punk rock and classic rock.

  15. I didn't like to say. 😂 Watch any footage from the Longshot tour. Let me get this right. You were looking at Billie’s hand? ..😂😂

  16. So what I'm hearing you all say just adds to my theory that Green Day loves Chicago and we're actually their favorite city Well, I'm happy to know that the Chicago one was one of the best of the tour!

  17. These photos are still fantastic! But it sucks you had to deal with that crap, especially the guy in your way. I know he can't help it, but it still stinks. For it seems like no matter where I am I'm like a magnet for tall guys and they're always in front of me. It even happened at the Colbert taping. I could see the stage perfect and then the guys in front of me sat down

  19. @solongfromthestarsif I remember right it was an old guy I worked with who found out I liked Green Day and told me he'd seen them at the Distortion Festival back in 2002 and had met and was chatting to Billie at Rock City (in the town centre) later that night. His favourite album was Kerplunk and his favourite song Christie Road.

  20. Such a shame about the VIPs. I was hoping the US wasn't having to deal with that crap. They're fab photos though! Glad you had mostly nice people around you too.

  21. On this day 7 years ago (26 August 2017), Green Day played in Darien Lake, NY on the Revolution Radio Tour. More photos: 12 years ago (26 August 2012), Green Day played Rock en Seine in France. More photos: 14 years ago (26 August 2010), Green Day played in Dallas, TX on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. It was a big deal when they played F.O.D. and Whatsername back then. 19 years ago (26 August 2005), Green Day played in Sunrise, FL on the American Idiot Tour. More photos: 23 years ago (26 August 2001), Green Day played Gig on the Green in Glasgow, Scotland. 26 years ago (26 August 1998), Green Day played Rock City in Nottingham, England on the Nimrod Tour. I cannot believe Green Day ever played shitty old Rock City with the sticky floors. @Rumpelstiltskin2000 didn't you have a colleague who went on about them playing Christie Road at this show and going to the pub with them afterwards? Was the Tesco in the Vic Centre mentioned or was that something else? I know we didn't believe him but I don't remember exactly how far-fetched his story was 33 years ago (26 August 1991), Green Day played the Club Metro in Melbourne, FL.

  22. One thing I think should be said about the Saviors pitchfork review is that they said maybe Green Day isn’t as liberal as thought, but then again they also said they were too liberal in the 21CB review. Kinda seems like Green Day is smarter and better at telling the future than they’re given credit for. But not to say they are really too liberal or conservative much at all by any means.

  24. On this day 3 years ago (25 August 2021), Green Day played in Denver, CO on the Hella Mega Tour. More photos: 12 years ago (25 August 2012), Green Day played a surprise set at Reading Festival in England. More photos: I don't remember what day it was, but I think it was some time around then when Billie misbehaved and played songs he wasn't supposed to play on Zane Lowe's show. Edit: It was 22 August, but I can't be bothered to move it so whatever. 15 years ago (25 August 2009), Green Day played in Inglewood, CA on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 23 years ago (25 August 2001), Green Day played Leeds Festival in England on the Warning Tour. 29 years ago (25 August 1995), Green Day played Reading Festival in England on the Insomniac Tour. More photos: 30 years ago (25 August 1994), Green Day played Lollapalooza in San Diego, CA. I'm glad you're enjoying it! It was so fucking hot in there. Also one of the crazier crowds I've been in. That is badass that your sister just got back up and danced again! And it's incredible to see the wall of death from that angle.

  28. Boy I'm so out of this loop. I was going to use being out of the Green Day world between the Trilogy and now as an excuse, but I see that video is from 2010 so there goes my excuse 😂 On the other hand, at this point I've seen Billie kiss too many guys on stage like to make a big fuss out of it... although that video does seem a bit more... heart felt lol 😂 So please feel free to keep on bringing up to date lol

  40. To celebrate the launch, 7-Eleven and Punk Bunny are offering the chance to win big by honoring the tradition of Green Day fans solidifying their fandom in ink – with a twist. On August 28 starting at 8:00 a.m. ET, the first 50 fans to show up at 7-Eleven at 800 6th Ave in New York City and get inked with a custom 7-Eleven x Punk Bunny tattoo will receive free 7-Eleven coffee for 711 days.* The unique, semi-permanent tattoo is designed by Lady Cobra, a fellow Bay Area native and tattoo artist who will be on-site at the event inking some fans herself.

  42. I kept a screenshot of your post and 6 months later - yep, you were right. We're getting new/old stuff with the American Idiot 20 release. They might release an unreleased song as a "single" before the release in October. Maybe the band will tour Europe once again next year? Maybe not mainly festivals? That would be great, but we have to wait and see

  44. I was at this one. Part of my first Oakland pilgrimage. Only time I ever saw GD from the seats (never again; just not the same atmosphere or picture opportunity). I remember this was the first show Billie didn't play Ordinary World at (had the capo on the 7th, then tossed it off), which saddened me since I love that song. At least I got to see it at the Aragon.
