  1. Did the Chicago show last night. I got there at 1pm and there were only about 15 people there. Even by 3pm, it was only up to maybe 30-40. I was really surprised by that, but hey, good news for getting up front. The staff at Wrigley massively screwed up the wristbands. They were supposed to give yellow wristbands to people in the pit, but instead gave us pink, so when we got out to the field, the field staff wouldn’t let us in. Had to run back and get yellow ones; by this time, they figured out they were giving out the wrong wristbands, but it basically meant the people who showed up at 3pm got better spots than the ones who showed up at 7am. Luckily I still got a spot on the barricade at the end of the crosswalk on Mike’s side, which is what I wanted anyway (past couple shows I’ve been on Jason’s side, so I wanted to switch it up). Pre GD- Guitarist from the Linda Lindas tried to toss a pic into the audience and it landed on Alice Baxley. The Pumpkins drum was massively mic’d up; you could feel it in the floor. It was great to hear Bullet with Butterfly Wings; I’d put it right behind Smells Like Teen Spirit for the seminal songs of the 90s. There was a guy massively headbanging during the Pumpkins while wearing a Taylor Swift vest. Tre was watching the first few Pumpkins songs from the side. The show was great. Felt like I got run over by a truck by the end of the night; surprised I’m not more sore today. Got hit by at least 6 crowd surfers in the head, neck, and shoulder (after the first one, I was like, didn’t I have a ponytail in? They somehow managed to remove my ponytail holder). People around me were great and kept asking me if I was okay. It was like I was in the designated crowd surfer lane. During Minority, Billie highlighted Coley, and I think forgot to mention Mike. They almost forgot to bring out Blue to him afterwards. It was great seeing the Saviors songs; I was kind of surprised they kept Bobby Sox in after his voice issues, but he sounded great all night. After they finished Dookie, it was like, wow, and we still have a whole album to go! I’ll be seeing them next week in Milwaukee. You can tell you’re getting older when your first thought at the end of the show is “I get to do this again next week!” and then your body says “I have to do this again next week?!”. Few pics I took- Few more

  2. What a show 🤩 Green Day in a stadium truly is a spectacle. They have a fantastic stage set up with great videos screens. I really liked the retrospective video that introduced the concert. The big inflatables were cool too. It's sensory overload. I didn't know where to look most of the time. If be drooling over Billie on the screen and then I'd realize oh shit he's right there on stage! And Billie....oh my poor heart. He looked sooooo good in the RED SHIRT 🥵 The floof! The eyes! The smile and Kevin 😏 there were some great shots of Kevin and Jason. Billie was so dorky and funny! Shaking his hips, pouting at the camera, giggling, and rocking different hats. He's so stinking cute! And he sounded great. Fully recovered. It was wild hearing both of these albums live in full. It really took me back to when I got into Green Day. I still remember picking up American Idiot at Circuit City and falling in love with them. I picked up Dookie at Walmart with my allowance. I've been listening to this band for 20 years! And while I was screaming my lungs out in just thought I love this band so fucking much. I don't know if I would see them or another show at Wrigley again (unless it was free) but I'm glad I experienced them in this setting. I definitely had the time of my life. (Though they should have closed with fancy sauce)

  3. Went to the Chicago show while having food poisoning! Luckily I was ok since I didn’t eat or drink anything there. I just felt weak though, lots of standing! I recently saw blink 182 and Tom performed with food poisoning so I figured if he can perform with it, I could watch a show with it.

  4. Great show. So happy we went. Funny people in front of us. A family, mom, dad, two teenaged daughters, grandma and grandpa. Sat through most of the show and were only up dancing, and trying to mosh in their seats, during the five songs they knew. But everyone else around us were up and singing.

  5. I also went to the Chicago show last night! It was a last minute decision, but I scored a good ticket for a good price. I've never seen Green Day in a stadium before and it's a wild experience. I haven't seen Green Day in four years; the last time I saw them was in St. Louis for the NHL All Star Game. Seeing them in such a huge space is truly a spectacle. It's like their arena shows but cranked up x1000. It was so thrilling to have them up on stage with the pyro, fireworks, and balloons! I really enjoyed the stage setup. They had some really cool graphics for the big screens with plenty of references to Saviors, Dookie, and AI. The inflatables were cool, especially the plane that flew around the crowd. Though I couldn't help but think they must have hired the same effects company as blink-182 It's crazy how good Green Day sounds. There were so many times where I was singing so hard I almost thought I was listening to the album. Then I would look on stage like "oh shit they're right there!" I'm so glad Billie made a speedy recovery. He sounded fantastic. I was also sitting in a great section in the bleachers. Not only did I have a great view, the people around me were fun! There was a family with a little kid seeing what had to be his first GD show. The dad was singing his heart out too. In the row before me were a cute couple who kept making up their own silly dances for each song. There were also several older fans who were jumping up and down! You love to see it. Other random things I remember: - Billie saying "This is fucking me up right now" during Give Me Novocaine - Billie messing up the lyrics to I think Extraordinary Girl and ...I think Emenius Sleepus - Billie putting a cubs hat and a random cowboy hat - Butt wiggling - Kevin. Just Kevin - Billie shouting out Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin throughout the night....He could've stopped at Chicago since we're in the city proper but I'll allow it - Billie laughing when Mike and Tre started dancing around him during "Good Riddance" Overall, I had a great time. Not sure if I would pay for a show at Wrigley again. It's a clusterfuck. I didn't expect it be so difficult to navigate inside of Wrigley. It was packed! Getting home was a mess; luckily my bf was parked in the area and took me home. And as much as I liked the show, I prefer to see the band in a smaller venue even if that is an arena like United Center. Still, it was a great night. Definitely gave me a good dose of happiness I've been missing lately.

  6. Can I just say, Chicago seems like a pretty special place for Green Day? Think about it.... There's Jaded in Chicago. We kicked off the 99 Revolutions tour after Billie's stint in rehab. We got intimate shows at Aragon and the Metro. Billie had to call out sick, but what was his first show after he got better? Chicago Not to mention Billie said Wrigley is one of his fave stadiums AND we are responsible for the memorable shart story. So clearly....Green Day needs to post up in Chicago. We're a magical city for them. They love us. Just saying....

  7. I am so glad you got to experience this! And you just gave me quite the blast from the past by bringing up Circuit City LOL! I haven't heard that name in years. I remember there was one near me when I was growing up but I never went into it. I also got introduced to Green Day through American Idiot, which came out when I was 13. Found some videos! It's so good to hear Billie's voice sounding great again! And I love how he keeps telling people to vote at all these shows. ❤️

  9. It’s been 7 years since my last Green Day pit show. Wow. This was incredible. Billie was in quite the playful mood today, which is always lovely to see. The setlist Mike threw ended up under one of the canons, I think. Sad.

  10. I knew the shirt would be a main topic. Great show! In pain from the numerous crowd surfers banging into my head and shoulder, but fantastic experience.

  11. My cousin is at the show tonight and he was there mainly for Smashing Pumpkins. He just texted me, "Wow Green Day slapping." Haha, glad to hear he's enjoying them.

  13. Amazing show last night. If you had told me 48 hours prior that the show would go forward, I would have been doubtful, given the cancellation of the Hershey and Q101 shows. So, it was really special to be there, and to see Billie looking and sounding as good as he did. In fact, he sounded as good as I’ve ever heard him! It’s great that they’re back to playing 2+ hour shows. It really makes it feel more like a concert compared to the 2021 - 2023 shows, if that makes any sense. Just a better overall Green Day experience, as all that time really allows the band flex their musical muscles, so to speak. To think, by the time American Idiot started in last night’s set, their Hella Mega set would have been nearly over. I was surprised how few fans were lining up for GA, especially in a big market like Chicago. By noon, there were probably only ~20 people in line. By 4:00 doors, maybe only 50-60 people. You could have shown up half an hour after doors and gotten barricade on either side or second row anywhere along the catwalk or in the corners. I pretty much ran into Billy Corgan as he was getting let off in a courtesy vehicle in an alley behind the Wrigley Rooftop buildings around 1:00 PM. There were no other fans back there, and really no security dissuading me from keeping my distance, though I did. I found a set of picks that Hans hid along the barricade, including at least two of Billie’s picks, and we got an additional three during the show! Great experience overall, and a much needed good Green Day experience after the debacle that was Louder Than Life last September.

  14. Wowza Billie was looking so good last night. The red shirt!!! What a nice surprise for Chicago! Every time they showed his big head and floofy hair on the big screens I couldn't help but internally scream "my freaking god you are so cute. How?!" Not to mention we got some booty shaking too!!

  15. I made it! I'm currently in the merch line so if you see someone in an Adeline shirt and fishnets say hi!

  16. On this day 7 years ago (14 August 2017), Green Day played in Maryland Heights (St. Louis), MO on the RevRad Tour. More photos: 12 years ago (14 August 2012), the Oh Love EP was released. 14 years ago (14 August 2010), Green Day played in Holmdel, NJ on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. 26 years ago (14 August 1998), Green Day played (setlist incomplete) the Free Wheels Festival in Cunlhat, France on the Nimrod Tour. 30 years ago (14 August 1994), Green Day played their iconic set at Woodstock on the Dookie Tour. 32 years ago (14 August 1992), Green Day played at Berkeley Square which was, shockingly, in Berkeley, CA. I always assumed it was a plaza, but it was a nightclub. 33 years ago (14 August 1991), Green Day played in Indianapolis, IN.

  17. He’s geography challenged. I remember seeing them one time in Camden (South Jersey, right near Philadelphia) and he was like “we’re basically in New York!” And I was like honey…no. @Montclare Were you like, on the stage??? Incredible pics!

  18. Are they even in it? It just looks like a long form ad for the energy drink (which I’d never buy. Those things are bad for you)

  20. As soon as I saw the red shirt, I knew it'd be talked about here. He wore the black one with the red collar so much I was afraid that'd be the official American leg shirt. Nice surprise.

  21. I’m so glad you had a great experience and that Billie is all better! He certainly looked all better. It is such a surreal experience to hear these albums in full and be able to sing every single word and think back on how long your history goes back with this band. (And yes, it’s also overwhelming to know where to look lol).

  22. Props to Billie, I was worried they’d cut out Bobby Sox from the set. They’re playing it now on the webcam

  24. I think there’s a lot more to it than we can ever really speculate on. It wasn’t “max Green Day” but yet some of the songs saw the light of day. The fans also enjoyed the songs in many cases. One can only speculate but I think it was as simple as they wrote the first few AI songs and wanted to chase that down or go into that direction. The only other thing I can think of is that C&V as a collection of songs may have just not worked as a cohesive sequence. That would explain why the songs that did see the light of day did so on other albums/projects. Yeah those things go by fast. When I met Rush it was a quick thing. Not much time to talk outside of exchanging pleasantries.

  25. Barricade! Even though they fucked up the wristbands. 🙄
    3 points
  26. I think this could be accurate. I bet in some way shape or form we have heard everything from C&V by now whether it was AI - Tre, The Network or Foxboro Hot Tubs etc. Obviously in reworked lyrics, progressions and bits and pieces etc. Would be great to eventually get to hear what was slotted for Feb 2003 just for the sake of the band’s history and progression into AI but they have to choose when. We never expected a tour with both Dookie and AI played in full but we got it. They may have this planned for some other milestone. Or it may just never happen. They have released specific songs from it though. They also have spoken about the vault and potentially releasing stuff from it. They could release it one day or never at all. If I ever meet them I’ll ask and will report back here lmao

  27. If they wanted to release it they would. There's a reason they haven't.

  28. I theorized whether during that press conference Billie and Mike were playing a game between them to see who could randomly drop the word Prednisone into the interview the most times. The way they looked at each other when they did that it sure seemed like a private joke. I could see them doing that just to make the radio promo more fun for themselves

  29. My favorite moment like that is during the 99 Revolutions tour in Rosemont, IL. Billie kept shouting "CHICAGO! CHICAGO!" then paused as if Mike whispered "Billie we're in the suburbs" and then Billie says "ILLINOIS!" Smooth, Billie. Real smooth.

  30. He’s so right about prednisone, it’s a trip. Either it clears your skin and makes you clean your entire house in an hour or it blurs your vision to the point where you’re completely useless. Fun times.

  33. So glad you guys got to go and had a great time, it’s an amazing tour. So glad BJ is fully recovered.

  34. Yeah I completely agree that they’ve most likely been reworked since the original versions. It feels like discovery work, they wanted to get back to basics and make a record that held true to what was before Nimrod and Warning and of course carry over the songwriting ability that evolved from those 2 previous records. In doing so it led to the first parts of American Idiot which led them to something new, completely different and max Green Day. C&V could have very likely been like the trilogy where it was just basic song structures. I know Mike mentioned in AI footage that for the album they started to put the microscope on every aspect of the arrangements. The story about the tapes is folklore. They just needed to answer questions when the release date was delayed again. They also were pumping up C&V in the press and it was a highly anticipated album for them after Pop Disaster. They just needed to kill that off. There are no tapes right? Would it not be all digital? Then again I heard a story where the hard drive was stolen. Nobody would have access to that room except their crew. I doubt any of them are opening up computers and ripping out hard drives.
    2 points
  35. OP obviously missed the part about the master tapes being stolen. That definitely happened, no doubt about it. But yeah, a petition ain't gonna cut it, sorry. Besides, apart from the title track which we've already heard - and is fiiiiiiinnnne, I suppose - the rest of the album has probably found its way into subsequent works anyways in some guise or another. They love recycling old ideas, as we know. If the band deemed the album trash, it's probably trash.

  41. @PhuzzyPhriend I was so shocked to watch recordings from this show and hear how off he sounded at times, because he didn’t sound that way to me at all in person! Maybe it was just the Green Day haze, but I thought he sounded perfect. I genuinely thought he just went a little too far screaming in Bobby Sox and that’s what messed him up. But after learning that, I felt so bad; seemed like he was either on the verge of getting sick or just exhausted his voice doing all these shows. Honored that he pushed through for us, but I’m sorry he was struggling at points and hope he didn’t mess his voice up too much!

  42. I actually have met all of the band members in person and believe me, I was dying to ask about C&V. However, I only had a short time to chat with them and didn't want to pester them about it. Tre was kind enough to talk shop with me as one drummer to another, which is an experience I will cherish the rest of my life so I'm kinda glad I didn't in that case.

  43. Not to brag but tonight I got to see Billie soaking wet. He’s stupid beautiful. I don’t even have words. My glasses just fogged up at random a couple times because I was ahhooogaaa-ing and a couple times I started singing and just stopped mid-word because my mouth was falling open. Also, The Linda Lindas didn’t get a chance to perform due to weather so they let them come out and play a song mid-show and I think I had the hardest fangirl moment of my life because that was the SWEETEST THING IVE EVER SEEN.
