  1. I'm stoked for this, don't get me wrong, but we as a fan base really need to push for the remaining unreleased songs from the infamous "John Roecker" disc to be officially released. They should have been with the AI Anniversary Edition. Perhaps the band has recycled bits and pieces from the unreleased material here and there and they'd rather us hear that, but at the very least we need the studio version of the C&V title track. There is no reason whatsoever that it should remain unreleased. We know it exists.

  2. Do I buy the vinyl set that I’ll never actually use but it’s got pretty artwork or the much more affordable CD I’ll actually use? Hmmm.

  3. Not entirely sure why folk are so keen on C&V material as the band have said often enough that it wasn’t good enough. I agree that all the best bits have been recycled and I suppose we could have had the title track somewhere at some point but the point of this is the AI anniversary. That monumental, surprising, earthquake of an album should be the focus.

  4. Monthly Spotify update. Looks like Dilemma got a nice bump from the beginning of the American tour. And Good Night Adeline and Suzie Chapstick are still holding their own in comparison to the other songs post track 5. And side note- Basketcase has been averaging over 900,000 listens a day, whereas it's normally around 500-600,000. And Good Riddance has had a nice bump from Deadpool, and is getting around 800,000 a day compared to its usual 300-400,000.

  5. “It was kinda like, no looking back on those OTHER SONGS….” What other songs exactly Mike?!? Which ones?!? Have I heard these other songs before or were they “lost?!?”

  6. The expense of the vinyl set is probably purely the fact that there's eight different LPs in there. Vinyl ain't cheap

  7. According to the official tracklist Chris Lord-Alge mixed the live songs!! ❤️

  12. Wow this demo version of Holiday has a better sound quality than the finished studio versions of many many bands 😅 amazing what high quality level Green Day already had at that time

  14. Welcome to the dark-side It’s a bit of a minority position as most people tend go with 2009/2010 or somewhere in the 90s, some even say 2000-2002, but I’ve always maintained Green Day hit their absolute live peak during the 2004/2005 AI tour. It’s why I’d love for them to release a full length club show like Warfield or at least BIAB both nights in full, or preferably both. Then there’s the AOL sessions or the show at The Wiltern Theatre. As it stands, Live at Irving Plaza is a great choice, it’s *coughs* just missing three songs that’s all, all that is, t’is all that… But still very much looking forward.

  15. I got to admit, releasing "already-heard live tracks" for Nimrod 25th, Dookie 30th and AI 20th isn't that "exciting" in my opinion. It doesn't feel "fresh" and I feel like the effort just isn't there from the band's management. I love hearing GDs live performances (I think we all do), especially when we get full unedited footage from a show, but it's gotta be something from a show that we've not heard before. Give me a random gig from a small european country or from a random US show, that would be awesome 😏 The fact that we've haven't got anything from the 99rev tour, or RevRad tour is such a shame. The demos are very cool tho, excited to hear all of them when it's released. Also, not sure where I've read this, but isn't the C&V "title track" actually a different song to what we think C&V actually is? Could that song just be a promotion of some sort for AAF? And that's why they're not bothered to share it with us?

  16. Well this is cool! Plus whatever we haven't heard probably isn't that great, since they literally scrapped the album because it was mediocre lol

  18. Will there be any other way to get this video but Blue Ray? Who has a Blue Ray player? I don’t want to spend money on any of this to have two useless discs I can’t watch. I have a plain old DVD player Everything I’ve ever heard supports this theory. There is no “C&V” album, just a bunch of songs we’ve mostly heard by now

  19. The nostalgia is hitting hard. I remember being obsessed with the pics from that photo shoot with the black and white stripes backdrop. I remember having one of those as my computer screen saver for the longest time. Ah to be 14 again.

  20. I can't imagine how many times I watched BIAB when it came out, as a new GD fan who had barely seen footage of them live before (only other things I'd seen were Storytellers and a bit of Rock Am Ring) and didn't have internet at the time. It was amazing . Long time since I watched it, really want to now!

  21. To those thinking that C&V doesn't exist; even if it never really did, there is enough material from that era (AI B-Sides, 21CBD B-Sides, bonus tracks, and unreleased songs on the John Roecker disc) to make an album out of and call it C&V. It could be very easily done. We do know for a fact that the band was in the studio all throughout 2002 and 2003 making all kinds of recordings, including but not limited to Money Money 2020. They were also apparently working with the Rock Mafia production team (check the credits on some of the AI B-Sides/Bonus tracks), so the label was still invested in getting hit songs from the band during these pre-AI recording sessions, so very clearly the band was doing "something" during that time, even if the official C&V story is an embellishment.

  22. Okay but why everything about Green Day in the last 5 years has been so expensive? $200 for godsake wtf Hella Mega, Saviors tour, punk bunny, dookie 30th, Insomniac deluxe, American Idiot 20th.

  23. We really don't know if C&V exists. There are theories that C&V never actually existed and is just a story that was made up to drum up intrigue and speculation about what this mysterious lost album could've been. While there isn't necessarily evidence that C&V never existed, there isn't really evidence that it did exist either. Tbh the song C&V lyrically sounds a lot more like something Billie would've written post-AI. Not saying it couldn't have been written earlier but it just sounds like that to me. Secondly, even if it did exist, it's very likely that anything worth releasing off of it was already released or reworked. Maybe a couple songs off Money Money 2020 originally sounded more "Green Day" and were part of C&V. Maybe songs from American Idiot originated from C&V. Maybe songs from Foxboro, 21st Century Breakdown or the trilogy came from C&V. And then you have to think of all the B-sides that were released, did they originate from C&V? For all we know we've already heard all the songs from C&V. Some of these new unheard demos coming might also be from the C&V sessions too Thirdly, when the Warning anniversary album comes out, which should be next year for its 25th, we could get more stuff intended for C&V. Since Warning was the predecessor to what was supposed to be C&V, it's likely that a lot of the stuff intended for C&V originated from the Warning sessions. If we ever are to get C&V released in its entirety, I wouldn't be surprised if they include C&V alongside the Warning anniversary album as a way of making that release more appealing to more casual fans who like American Idiot but aren't familiar with their broader discography like Warning And finally, if C&V was to be released, it could be argued that it takes away from what makes that album so special. Again, it's the mystery surrounding it that makes it interesting to fans. But remember, it was an album that the band wasn't happy with at the time so deciding to scrap. It's an album that if released, could've resulted in the end of the band since American Idiot wouldn't have been released. It could just be considered a real disappointment if it ever were released, there's a lot of high expectations for an album that was supposed to come out 21 years ago. I like the new demos for Holiday/BOBD. The Minority live track is also nice, though I'm surprised they chose Minority to be the live track they released first. Favorite Son was always available to me on spotify but not a lot of people would've heard it so I'm glad that it's widely available for people to listen to now on streaming platforms.

  25. The description now says: "Brandneue Dokumentation: 20 Years of American Idiot, plus die Dokumentation Heart Like a Handgrenade und BBC Live" So there will be the doc titled "20 Years of American Idiot", "Heart Like a Hand Grenade and BBC Live". I guess the BBC Live one is the open air one from February 2005 (not the October 2004 one, since it was audio only, I guess):

  26. Holiday sounds almost like finished version, BOBD sounds a little less finished but they sound great. The video seems like a mash up of BIAB and HLAG but think there are new bits in there too.
