I had a free morning (most of which I needed) so gathered all my stuff together and it's worse than I thought đ I realised, after I took the pics that my new OEB t-shirt is on the washing line so it's 12 t-shirts I have not the paltry 11 you can see đ đbut that my anniversary Insomniac is not with the rest of my CDs so that's a worry. The first pic is the displate pic hubby bought me the other Christmas, the little figures are ones my daughter-in-law made me, I haven't shown my calendar as you will all have seen the pics before and I make my own now you can't buy them and also, I haven't shown my two beautiful hand made Christmas ornaments from @Montclare and Christmas Stocking from @IcyMoffattwhich are in the loft along with two home made baubles filled with confetti from shows.10 points

I definitely remember how bloody hot it was in the Shepherd's Bush Empire But my most enduring memory is of Billie's reaction to us all knowing the lyrics to Stay the Night a month before it was officially released. I also have a very vivid memory of Tre telling us that Billie had laryngitis but not to worry because he was there. And then he played All By Myself and Billie did not have laryngitis. I think I wrote a recap of the show at the time so I'll have to find that, although I'm sure I'll think it's embarrassing garbage now because I was 17 then.7 points

Hey @Hermione get it straight, it was a SEVERED HEAD according to them. Whoâs gonna break it to these folks what part of the body masks go on? The Nimrod Trump shirt is back on their website (https://store.greenday.com/products/nimrod-45-t-shirt) with this description: âWe had a final few of these left over in the warehouse, and decided that right now was a good reason to make them available if anyone wants them. No specific reason.â I am profoundly in love with this band.5 points

This is an epic collection! I also have a wonderful Christmas ornament from @Montclare (a FBHT one), I make myself save it for Christmas. Can't find a good pic but it's in the top left hand corner by the tree here (also a Billie Joe doll made by my brother's ex gf with added santa hat on the other tree lol)5 points

Had some hearty laughs reading the triggered MAGAs commenting on every Green Day Instagram post and this trash Daily Mail article today: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13689855/green-day-billie-joe-armstrong-donald-trump-head-concert.html Over a halloween mask with idiot written on it lmao, these people are utterly ridiculous4 points

Wasn't sure where to post this but some pics of the tour bus passing through someone managed to grab https://www.facebook.com/share/p/NfgFycLRt37f8ADE/?ref=share Some of you over in the US might see it during the course of the tour4 points

Thank you. I'm a u2 fan too so was really interested to see what they were discussing. I can't get the SiriusXM app to listen my self. Edit: just found it on YouTube.3 points

I do itâs an hour I can listen to it later today and report back on any highlights Edit: Theyâre playing five formative songs for him and talking about them: Ramones, The Who, Queen, Violent Femmes and Husker Du and talking about the bass players âIf you could snap a line from Green Day to any band it would probably be Husker Du, that and the Replacementsâ3 points

I've been neglecting this thread again so I'll just post the ones I've got photos of from the days I missed. 2 years ago last Monday (29 July 2022), Green Day played the Metro in Chicago on the Hella Mega Tour. 3 years ago (29 July 2021), Green Day played in Houston, TX on the Hella Mega Tour. 15 years ago (29 July 2009), Green Day played in Washington DC on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour, which is a nice coincidence because they played DC again on that day this year. More photos: 33 years ago (29 July 1991), Green Day played in Missoula, MT. "I saw Green Day above the Union Club in 1991, the year the band released 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Those pop-punk songs (an anthology of early tracks) captured a general disregard for adulthood and decorum that I related to, even if they were mostly vapid love songs about checking out cute girls in the library. Green Day wasnât really edgy so much as they embodied the fun, carefree, middle-finger-flipping attitude I sometimes needed to balance out darker, more serious bands I liked, including the Nation of Ulysses and Fugazi (both of whom also played Missoula around the same time). And at the Green Day show there was a lot of joyful letting loose: sweaty 'slam dancing' and smiling kids ecstatic for a momentary escape." â Missoula Independent --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 30 years ago yesterday (30 July 1994), Green Day played in Allentown, PA on the Dookie Tour (setlist incomplete). 33 years ago yesterday (30 July 1991), Green Day played Inner World Gateway in Billings, MT. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- On this day 2 years ago (31 July 2022), Green Day played Lollapalooza on the Hella Mega Tour. More photos: 3 years ago today (31 July 2021), Green Day played in Jacksonville, FL on the Hella Mega Tour. "Perhaps the highlight of being in the presence of Green Day was Billie Joe Armstrongâs insane ability to control an audienceâthe same way Freddie Mercury did. Yep, we just went there." â Josh Bradley, CL Tampa Bay 15 years ago (31 July 2009), Green Day played in Nashville, TN on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 23 years ago (31 July 2001), Green Day played in Vancouver, Canada on the Warning Tour. 26 years ago (31 July 1998), Green Day played KNRK Big Stink on the Nimrod Tour. Using Comic Sans MS for a band name on a shirt is so low effort that I'm impressed. 30 years ago (31 July 1994), Green Day played The Sting in New Britain, CT on the Dookie Tour. "When I saw them, it was at a small (now sadly defunct) club in New Britain, CT called The Sting. Between the time we bought the tickets and the show was when they started to blow up at radio and MTV and all that. It was pretty funny, actually, because nobody at my school knew much about them when the tickets went on sale. But when the school year was coming to an end and the show was approaching, people were complaining that it was sold out. Me and my buddy that I went with loved that. All the trendy kids had to stay home." â schlitsz And there's the monthly roundup on GDA. https://www.greendayauthority.com/news/6173/3 points

I honestly don't remember the heat, although the pictures suggest I was an utterly sweaty mess afterwards. My most abiding memory was literally being LIKE 30 CM FROM BILLIE JOE *DIES*3 points

https://www.siriusxm.com/blog/green-day-mike-dirnt-dookie So Mike did an interview with Adam Clayton (the bass player with U2) for SiriusXM recently. Is anyone able to access the full interview?2 points

I like that they are put into one song though. Like that you don't have that awkward pause between the two, and it respects the continuous sound that you had in the original album.2 points

Good Riddance is getting a bump in Spotify streams. Probably due to being in Deadpool. 677k per day and up to #5 recently most popular for Green Day.2 points

The right wing media decontextualizing something? Shocker. American Idiot has aged so well and is even more relevant today than it was in 2004... "one nation controlled by the media, information age of hysteria"1 point

As someone who found the Tenacious D comment inappropriate, I donât see how what Billie did is âoffensive.â He didnât have a âsevered headââŠit was a mask lol. And putting âidiotâ or ânimrodâ is something theyâve done for decades.1 point

Ta very much. Was after the Shepherd's Bush one I don't fugging believe it... I started the entry but never finished it, so I didn't write about the gig. Wrote about meeting up with lots of lovely GDCers; Hermione, Tom, Holly, Tasha... but then NOT THE GIG. WHAT THE FUCK PAST BRYONY.1 point

It was 16-year-old me who had the walls plastered with magazine clippings and posters, not so much 33-year-old me (more Spice Girls stuff now, tbh )... but yesterday I dug out my old American Idiot purse to clean up to take to the Toronto show with me next week (obvs) and I found a pair of tickets in it from the 21CB tour, summer 2010 in Toronto. That would have been the second of two Green Day shows dad and I went to together and probably one of the last couple of concerts we would have gone to together before he died in 2015. Kinda love that they've been kicking around in that purse for the past 14 years, it was a cool find. But it's also really fucking with me.1 point

This thread is so cute!! I don't have a "shrine" but the walls of my old bedroom back at my parents house are still... decorated with all the GD stuff I hung up between 2010-2013: Newspaper reviews from the shows in Oslo 2010 & 2013, photos from the show in Berlin 2012, and some confetti. I also found these ones that I for some weird reason kept from newspapers (from around 2011-12) + some old and more recent tickets.1 point

Oh my goooodddd.... all the feels. I remember the crushing after the 1,2 1,2,3,4 - genuinely thought I was gonna get squished. So worth it though. Some noteworthy quotations/outtakes: "We found our place at Gate H and pulled up a patch of concrete to sit on. We stayed there for a while, but I was shivering violently so [my friends] went to find some coffee. Whilst they were gone, I got talking to the other crazy ass fans who were there at 6.30 in the morning. [My friends] came back with a cup of hot. No that's not me writing too fast, it stops after hot because the liquid in the cup was unidentifiable." "My friends brought a fitted bedsheet from IKEA because we were that cold. We ended up lying on the tarmac wrapped in the blue sheet next to each other to keep warm. We must have looked like a pack of sardines - just four heads, poking out of the top of this sheet!' "I saw Mike first, and by this point the screaming had reached the decibel level of an airport runway. Tré then ran on to more screams, and then I saw Billie. OMG BILLIE." <-- I was such a little fangirl. "[Billie] said he asked Jesus to clear the sky of clouds so that God could watch his favourite band play again, but got ignored, so he went to Jesus' best friend "Also known as Satan" and Satan said hell yeah he'd watch them play." "[During Boulevard of Broken Dreams] Billie got down on his hands and knees to worship the crowd." Apparently, at one point, I thought Billie Joe actually looked at me when I motioned for him to come spray water on our side because he had a water gun. Yeah, sure Bryony, of course he noticed you. They played Dominated Love Slave with Beej on the drums. At the end of 'Hitchin A Ride' Billie came to the front and said he "wanted to fuck each and every one of us" <-- Um, I'm still waiting Beej. Tick, Tock. Apparently it was sweaty balls in the pit due to pyrotechnics. We also got 'When It's Time' which was to do this day is one of my fave songs. At that point it had only been out a week. I remember grabbing my best friends hand, and holding it as we sang. Crazy moment full of so much emotion. Billie speech - not sure when he gave this, or how accurate it is, 'cause it'll be from memory in my diary a few days later: "I'm not sure when we're coming back, but I'll tell you one thing, I'm going to remember this for the rest of my fucking life. Yeah, we'll come back. We will come back. There ain't no other band I'd rather do this with. Bands break up, my favourite bands have broken up, some of my favourite people have died. The only way I'm getting out of this band is when they roll me away in a coffin, I'll tell you that.' There's a lot lot lot more in that entry, and some of it is batshit, so I'm not repeating it. But... fun trip down memory lane.1 point

I mean, it is because of inflation which has made the price of everything go up but also because bands barely make any money from album sales now. Tours are where they make their money instead of selling records/CDs.1 point
-
It started during the Warning tour, don't know of a particular reason or story to it other than it was just a fun idea to have a drunken dancing pink bunny to entertain the crowd before the show. It's a member of their crew that does it but it's likely different people filled in from time to time and could have changed to a different person/people by now. The story is the suit has never been washed lol The bunny had some serious moves at Wembley1 point
