Billie smiling as much as he was this morning at what is probably an ungodly hour for someone in a band feels worthy of fangirling. He looked so happy and adorable. 🥺

This was my second Green Day concert, hard to believe it was 15 years ago. I took some nice pics, including one of Billie with a Brazilian flag he took from the audience - I'll try to dig them out Voilà! Also, a couple of Mike from that show: And another one of Billie for good measure: These are basically the only pics I took at that show that are not a blurry mess 😅 (to be fair I don't have many, I only took my camera out when they went on stage / first song, and during King for a Day... and then hurriedly when I saw Billie taking that flag, still not sure how I managed such a good shot of it).

Chris Lord-Alge gave a very in-depth interview in this podcast about his work and the music he produced and mixed. He also mentioned Green Day a couple times (btw he's a fan of One Eyed Bastard 😄). Well I thought I'd finally got hold of a copy of the ISH magenta repress vinyl but it's just arrived from the US and it's a black vinyl inside! Pretty upset and waiting for the seller to get back to me

Forgot yesterday but this is all I've got from those shows, so. Green Day played the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids (Detroit), MI, 30 years ago yesterday (26 July 1994). 3 years ago today (27 July 2021), Green Day played in Atlanta, GA on the Hella Mega Tour. 15 years ago (2009), Green Day played Madison Square Garden in NYC on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos (all by Bob Gruen): 23 years ago (2001), they played in Denver, CO on the Warning Tour. And 24 years ago (2000), they played in Knoxville, TN on the Warped Tour.

I've started scheduling stories on the GDA Instagram that are throwbacks to gigs played on that day however many years ago. If I'm going to all that effort, I might as well post this stuff here as well. However! I'm only focusing on gigs (not album releases or anything) and I'm very likely to forget to post here anyway, so if you remember anything that happened on a certain day years ago (or if you feel like copy/pasting from the GDA Instagram), please contribute! Even stuff like music video releases and chart positions on certain days would be interesting to look back on. So, on this day (16 April) 19 years ago (2005), Green Day played in Orlando, FL. 11 years ago (2013), they played the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. And 9 years ago (2015), they played the House of Blues in Cleveland before their Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame induction. Yes, I did get the year wrong on Instagram. Enjoy looking back at what our favourite band have been up to!

I know Jesse has health issues, but what we need is a full Rodeo Queen album. Green Day is alright but Rodeo Queens are 20 times better. A sober Rodeo Queens album would be so good. Or let Jesse join the tubbies or so he could get some more money, Green Day. Him and Ryan Adams sparked the American Idiot creativity at least in part, and that says a lot. Let him write with Billie.

Well they finally priced me out of these shows; it was bound to happen at some point. BUT my buddy at LiveNation came through and scored us 4 GA tix for Fenway. So stoked, because we now have the honor of taking another friend to his first Green Day show. 💚💚💚

My gaming room is practically a Green Day room now 😅

It was 16-year-old me who had the walls plastered with magazine clippings and posters, not so much 33-year-old me (more Spice Girls stuff now, tbh )... but yesterday I dug out my old American Idiot purse to clean up to take to the Toronto show with me next week (obvs) and I found a pair of tickets in it from the 21CB tour, summer 2010 in Toronto. That would have been the second of two Green Day shows dad and I went to together and probably one of the last couple of concerts we would have gone to together before he died in 2015. Kinda love that they've been kicking around in that purse for the past 14 years, it was a cool find. But it's also really fucking with me.
