Man it’s only standing here by the catwalk, that the excitement of seeing my favourite band again after 7 years, knowing that they’re here somewhere, backstage, is starting to mount. Good stuff!6 points

Just found recent photos of this guitar. Signed by the band and Timmy Chunks ("blank rulz"). I always wondered where this one resided these days.3 points

Sadly there seems to be only the one photo from Green Day's set. Maybe the photographer will upload more once the festival is over? https://www.instagram.com/p/C8MFXKAtLjf/?igsh=MWVvejkwcDJhbXQ4MA==3 points

Costa Rica 2010. They played 43 songs. Setlist here https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/green-day/2010/estadio-ricardo-saprissa-san-jose-costa-rica-bd57542.html It was the last show of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour and lasted just over four hours2 points

I wondered if that was Billie giving a nod to Dookie, we know his sense of humour 😂😂2 points

A sad thing about that story time thing is one of the times he told the story about drinking with his friend and jumping in a car to fight someone that friend was at the show, and went home and committed suicide later that night. Billie wrote X Kid about him. Not sure if that could be a reason for not bringing it back or if it's just because they never play Before the Lobotomy.2 points

What?! I'm getting so confused by the flip-flopping of the setlist! I suppose it depends on if it's a festival or a pure GD show, but I'm still getting nervous about the Wembley setlist. I NEED to hear some Saviours songs!!😬😅🤞1 point
-
They are not playing 2h 20min at the festival shows, at least the last couple of shows. I was at Rock Im Park and the set was less than 2 hours (they finished early, which did confuse many people). I thought it had something to do with technical difficulties because there were some issues with the sound and also the screens. But the Nova Rock setlist looks pretty much the same. I don't know the reason, maybe saving energy for the album shows? Because those have been on 🔥1 point
-
Setlists keep getting shorter and shorter, which is super weird. Yeah I know what you are going to say, non album shows, but so far they have been scheduled to play 2h 20m as in any other shows and still they played 9 less songs in Nova Rock than in Madrid which was also a festival, so they proved they can do it. 9 songs is almost 45m worth of music, where is that time going? I refuse to believe they are inserting 45m worth of eeoos, speeches and so on.1 point
-
Depending how technical you wanna be, The Warfield in 2005 was 39 Green Day songs and at least 8 songs by The Network as they were the opener1 point
-
That doesn't make sense, otherwise they wouldn't play songs like The American Dream is Killing Me or Dilemma at all. It's just a matter of schedule and time they have to play, which isn't the same on every show. they have to choose songs and playing Dookie + American Idiot in full takes a good part of the set. No conspiracy theory, please 😅1 point

Just to add, it was only 2hr 15 min which is so surprising given the length of the setlist! From experience the French crowd was very different to the Irish! Quieter at the end/ between songs (less cheering and singing) and much more cup throwing resulting in me with a big bruise on my head 😂 Also in my experience there was way less interaction with the crowd/ hey-oh's which I presumed was to get through the setlist. Also did no one else notice Billie was slightly high pitched at times? I think he was losing his voice, especially evident during Good Riddance. Overall an amazing gig, great sound and definitely the best screens and stage I have seen!! 💖1 point

After returning from three shows of the Saviors Tour so far, I'm still full of adrenaline and on a Green Day high That was a dosis of happiness and love I needed very, very much this time. They truly are my saviors over and over again, for the last 20 years. Thank you Green Day😭 Please do this for many, many more years to come. It is completely beyond me how someone can not be in love with this band.1 point

Disagree! I know nothing but I know he looks good in those trousers! Then we can see the socks and shoes and discuss them. It’s fashion discussion! I guess that would be a different thread. The Fashion Thread.1 point

I had a great time at their Rock am Ring gig and it didn’t seem like they were slowing down. On the contrary, powering through some of the songs gave the whole show even more energy. There was still plenty of crowd interaction but I actually don’t mind less Hey-Oh‘s. I’d rather hear a few more deep cuts instead. I truly think it was a special night. It definitely was for me. Of course they’re getting older, but I don’t think it’s affecting their shows negatively. Billie sounded great, they clearly had a great time on stage and the atmosphere in the audience was also amazing. I only heard and read positive reactions after their performance so I think we should be glad that they’re still performing on such a high level.1 point

On this day 2 years ago (2022), Green Day played Stockholm, Sweden on the Hella Mega Tour. More photos: Thanks to Rumpel for screenshotting all those Instagram stories in 2022 because I was totally out of the loop then. 6 years ago (2018), The Longshot played Bellingham, WA. Photo by lightboxgallery 7 years ago (2017), Green Day played Download Festival in France. Photo by Ronan Thenady. That is a very nice shot, I must say. 14 years ago (2010), Green Day played in Munich, Germany on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: I got some red trousers like those and wore them to death back in that era. I wasn't the only one either 19 years ago (2005), Green Day played the Heineken Jammin' Festival on the American Idiot Tour. More photos: 22 years ago (2022), Green Day played in Auburn Hills, MI on the Pop Disaster Tour. 30 years ago (1994), Green Day played the KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA. There's footage of the show on YouTube. And 35 years ago (1989), Green Day played with Screeching Weasel, the Mr. T. Experience, Stikky and Preachers That Lie at 555 Fulton Street in San Francisco.1 point

I don't know why it's taken this long, but I've suddenly had a wave of excitement over Wembley!! Not long to go now! Whoop whoop!🤣🙌 I think it's just hit me that I'm going to get to see GD in real life again!1 point

It would be incredible if they did (and honoured the tickets from the cancelled show (won't happen but can dream))1 point

Very cool, thank you for confirming! Those Japanese guitar magazines have always been really good about capturing clear photos of artists gear and these are no exception! On the Fernandes LE-1 (third from the right), you can see where Bill Schneider rounded the headstock over removing the sharp edge. It's also visible that he took off the Fernandes logo too. Among other details, the pink Strat has the most random stickers on it. North American Fishing Club and Quasar (the electronics company) among others. The sticker on the pickguard is a Bouncing Souls piece. Underneath the "ASS" it says "Bouncing Souls East Coast Fuck You", which is one of their songs. There's at least one Souls sticker on each Strat Billie played on the nimrod tour, including the original Blue. The black Strat on the right was for Timmy Chunks, Billie's first long term tech (and hardcore legend). When they played King For A Day (and Platypus if it was in the set), that was his guitar to play. There's a Souls sticker on his guitar too, just the self-titled album cover. Fun fact: Prior to the Souls touring with Green Day in 2000, Timmy has been lifelong friends with the band. So it makes complete sense their stickers are all over GD's gear.1 point

Much more excited for open vault from the past than for new stuff... I would LOVE a live versión of surrender/bastards of Young from that tour1 point
-
I feel they are both the same album cigarettes and valentines and american idiot, it's just that it turned into american idiot because they wrote better stuff that overtook the stuff they already had. as billie went to go to new york for a bit during 2003, maybe he was taking a break from working on that album and then when they came back to work on it again they have a better cooler idea than c&v1 point
-
The interview that Mike did before the American idiot album title was released he talked about how they had all these songs but they felt it wasn't what they wanted to put out and the newer songs were much better. Maybe someone deleted them on purpose. Also we've heard tracks from cig and valentines like shoplifter and lights out. I always though governator was the catalyst for the first network album1 point

This is our Wembley tickets from 2010 and they do have two specific entrances on them. Not sure if it will be the same this time round or not https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ywXyTn4c3/?igsh=ZWNncmEzdzZjMmUw1 point
-
I was there in 2010. There was no VIP or early entry then. I think our tickets had a specific entrance but I'd have to double check if I can find it. As well I'm fairly certain everywhere was unreserved (except the second tier was Idiot club).1 point

Really amazing to see this guitar! If you look at the sticker on the upper horn of the guitar, just underneath the black tape, it's a very faded 'One Man Army' sticker. I made that sticker at home with a Sharpie and handed it to Billie from the front row of the London Astoria gig, Feb 1st 1998, along with an orange 'Hi-Fives' sticker. I remember him dropping it on the stage after he took it from me. I had no Idea that he stuck it on one of his guitars! I guess he must have picked it up after the gig. If you watch the video of the gig, he takes the stickers from me during the extended outro to 'When I Come Around' (timestamp 1hr 11mins 17secs into the vid)👍1 point
