People, the show in Hamburg today was SICK! Just got back. Billie brought a fan on stage to play guitar during Good Riddance, and she played the whole song with the guitar on her back (over the head like Billie does sometimes), he sat down on stage to sing and she played, it was mindblowing. I would write more, but I’m dead. Definitely one of my fav GD shows of all time. I have now seen 3 shows of this tour so far and the boys are in excellent shape, Billie sounds absolutely amazing, better than during Hella Mega. You can all look forward to this even though it is a bit different than „classic“ GD show. I love my boys! So so happy.9 points

After having read so many complaints about the sound at outdoor shows (festivals in particular) during this tour, I was a bit worried about what the show in Hamburg would be like. I am happy to report the sound was perfect. At least where I was (back of the golden circle) the sound was very clean and clear. Just in case anyone expecting to attend an outdoor concert has also been worrying about this. Sad to report, however, that there is still no Fancy Sauce in the setlist 😅 keeping my fingers crossed for the Paris show as it will be my last one for this tour. 🤞🏻4 points

You're right, the Nova Rock Festival was skipped in the show threads. I thought it seemed odd that they were off until Saturday, that was a lot of days. Austria tomorrow night then.3 points

When it comes to showing country flags he always wants only the one of the country when the gig is. Once I’ve tried to give him Polish flag at show in a different country and he was like „no, I need the correct one”. I believe he showed Ukrainian flag at one of the Hella Mega shows, but it was more of a statement, cause topic of the war was more recent. Of course the war is still going on and he changed the lyrics to JoS, but also maybe he just didn’t realize the flag was Ukrainian3 points

On this day 5 years ago (12 June 2019), The Longshot played in LA. 7 years ago (2017), Green Day played Luxembourg on the Revolution Radio Tour. More photos: The Revolution Radio music video was also released that day. If I'd seen it before I've forgotten. It was filmed at 924 Gliman Street and combined with old footage of Green Day playing there. 14 years ago (2010), Green Day played Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. 19 years ago (2005), they played Nova Rock on the American Idiot Tour. 22 years ago (2002), they played in Cuyahoga Falls, OH on the Pop Disaster Tour. They also played that venue on the RevRad and Dookie tours. 30 years ago (1994), they played the 91X Sunfest in San Diego, CA on the Dookie Tour.3 points

Here's a pic from a video of the girl playing guitar while Billie sat down Here's the video https://www.instagram.com/stories/malte_xx/3388354356880565714?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MXZhNHptYjZjMWhzNg== I thought I'd heard somewhere that there have been 300 VIP tickets sold for each show of the tour but I don't know if that was someone's guess or it's true. Glad you enjoyed it more than Berlin Tré has also posted a video of Good Riddance https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8F61VKtAm0/?igsh=NGYwaHB0MGI4ank23 points

Complete show was absolute 10/10. They‘re such a tight band (that bass!) and I liked how they just went through the set without too many hey-hos or extended songs. Crowd was okay in my opinion. Not too bad (got better the more the show progressed) but Dookie seems to be more unknown than I thought if you exclude the hits of course. But this is something we‘ve now seen throughout the whole tour. You forget during the show how special this setlist is. I‘ve never imagined hearing Having A Blast, Chump, Pulling Teeth or She‘s A Rebel, Homecoming or Whatsername live. Also, 36 songs in total is special and something you don‘t see many bands do.3 points

I had a great time at their Rock am Ring gig and it didn’t seem like they were slowing down. On the contrary, powering through some of the songs gave the whole show even more energy. There was still plenty of crowd interaction but I actually don’t mind less Hey-Oh‘s. I’d rather hear a few more deep cuts instead. I truly think it was a special night. It definitely was for me. Of course they’re getting older, but I don’t think it’s affecting their shows negatively. Billie sounded great, they clearly had a great time on stage and the atmosphere in the audience was also amazing. I only heard and read positive reactions after their performance so I think we should be glad that they’re still performing on such a high level.3 points

back and almost alive from rock am ring festival and i loved it, every gd show is great but this show was one of their best i got to see, they sounded on fire! but at the same time i was very very sad they didnt play dookie in full ... and didnt play their full 2h20m set if i remember correctly billie said something like "we will be back soon enough" ... could he refer to a proper arena show tour in 2025 ? they didnt do sth like this in germany since 2017, i really hope they dodge the festivals and do solo shows here again3 points

Disagree! I know nothing but I know he looks good in those trousers! Then we can see the socks and shoes and discuss them. It’s fashion discussion! I guess that would be a different thread. The Fashion Thread.2 points

Few more screenshots from Billie sitting to sing Good Riddance Video here https://www.instagram.com/stories/depalmavittorio/3388378417466705689?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MWZodnUwd2ljMmMzag== It really is a scam now and like you say most fans are locked out by the richest. I've heard of old time fans in the US having to get tickets in the nosebleeds because they can no longer afford the other ticket prices. Very sad2 points
-
That’s the true VIP. That’s fair to both sides. The VIP this tour is just a scam. Even if you have it you still need to queue, cause showing up just at the doors time won’t give you a good spot (a lot of VIPs didn’t get the barricade in Berlin). If it would be like €10 or €20 more than a regular pit ticket - fine. But the price difference is actually really big and VIPs are just fucking expensive. The barricade should be for the most dedicated fans, not just for the richest.2 points

Just watched the full Rock Am Ring show and it was great, couple of problems with mics and it looked pretty cold but fast moving show!2 points

Right?!! I feel that if in a "normal" tour we got any one of those songs (and so many others! Coming clean, FOD, All by myself, Novacaine, Extraordinary Girl, etc) we'd be over the moon. Here it's so many of them that as you say, we forget what a privilege it is to be getting each of them individually. And American Idiot in full and in order, it was my teenage dream. It's still hard for me to wrap my head around it and I get so emotional with it.2 points

On the way back to the hotel right now from the show. It was really wonderful! Similar setlist to Lyon, except no One Eyed Bastard in this one, and Bobby Sox before Good riddance rather than between the albums. The rest I think was unchanged. Other thing that was different, was no Dookie background during that part of the set I was a bit saddened by this because as I was going to be further back this time, I was hoping to fully appreciate the stage decoration. Billie stopped the show for a minute after she to make sure someone in the crowd got help. I feel something happened during When I Come Around too, but I forget what. The highlight of the show: they brought a girl on stage to play the guitar during Good Riddance, she did a good job but missed a few things... She was playing with the guitar behind her head the whole time - maybe something to do with being left handed and playing with a normal guitar? No idea, maybe guitar players in the group might say. Anyways, it was perfect really, even if she missed a couple notes, because you could see she was so in the moment, and Billie got to sit down on the floor and sing from there. And then the rest of the band came and they all hugged with her, Trè asked her name and then made the crowd chant her name, and then threw a bucket full of confeti on her head 😂 I think we all had the time of our life, but this girl even more so. I was so emotional for her, and I hope there will be pictures soon so you see what I mean. It was really muddy! It was raining all day basically since yesterday. During the show we just had like 10 minutes of rain, but still, with all the mud it was a bit tough to jump around without splashing a tone or slipping. I do think at the front maybe it was a bit tough because a couple of times Billie asked people to make space and pull back a bit I think. I was at the back of the golden circle and while I was basically the only one around singing every song of Dookie, and not just the hits, I do think everyone knew American Idiot in full.2 points

Hi All I have been looking over some photos from the European Saviors photos. I noticed Mike has been playing a Silverburst G3. I finally come across a clear photo which shows its an Epiphone, with a Mike Dirnt truss rod cover. I have had a quick look around and I dont think Epiphone have ever done a G3 in Silverburst? What do you all think? It does seem a little odd that Mike is playing an Epiphone, with the custom truss rod cover, in a color that has never been issued. However, Fender still sell his latest Roadworn P-Bass so he likely still has a contract with them?1 point

Yes, that is what I found odd too, that he had no issue with changing the lyrics but wouldn't take the flag. That's what makes me think it was more of an issue of not wanting to wave another country's flag, than of not wanting to make a statement. But still it was awkward and definitely not a high point of the concert. I'd get that with a Palestinian flag, as that is quite polemic at the moment, but with regards to Ukraine everyone in the western world are more or less in the same page. He took my Venezuelan flag in the US back in the 21stCB tour. But I do think that's different because there they are playing at home and they take visitors' flags 😂 but yeah, I suspect this is probably what happened, that he didn't want to take a flag other than the country he was playing. -- I have also shared quite a few videos in my stories, here: https://www.instagram.com/stories/cristhynes_/3388889579677766845?igsh=cWVobnlkeGRnNHpm1 point

Really sorry, I didn't see this til now as I haven't been in this thread. I think it's a poor venue for a number of reasons. It's just a bit park which is taken over so public transport is awful to it in the evening, you need to book something like Happy Bus to get back and fore or else you have a very long walk back in to the city centre. The Wifi is awful which means buying anything is painful without cash and accessing your mobile tickets is painful too.1 point

Yes @Hermione all very good points! And I feel like a lot of us were getting a bit tired of the more interaction-heavy songs anyway, so I really appreciate the changes they’ve made to the setlist this time both for squeezing more songs in and to freshen things up.1 point

Idk, they sound great to me and they’re playing their two most iconic albums at most tour stops in addition to other wonderful old and new songs. I seriously have been loving the setlist most shows so far. The shows are still really long and their energy still seems fantastic. IMO, watching Billie performing sober is a more pleasant experience on every level — you can see him enjoying being in the moment and there are no rants/outbursts that tended to happen on the 21CB tour. And “less interaction” — they’re definitely playing straight through songs more than they used to, but I personally love that. At one point years ago, it seriously felt like they’d stop in the middle of every single song and that’s just not necessary. From what I’ve seen, they’re still engaging with the crowd, but in a way that’s less disruptive of the performances, and as an audience member I definitely appreciate that.1 point

I've missed five days so I won't post them all at once. I will post a look back at everything from June at the end of the month though, and as Rumpel said, there's the on this day tag on the GDA Tumblr. Anyway! On this day 5 years ago (10 June 2019), The Longshot played in Pioneertown, CA. 6 years ago (2018), The Longshot played in Portland, OR. Billie is pointing at the branding he did on Chris Cote's arse on the Pop Disaster Tour there, by the way. 30 years ago (1994), Green Day played Live 105 BFD in Mountain View, CA. I had no idea which show these pictures were from, but now I know. More photos: These photos were also taken that day. And 35 years ago (1989), Green Day played the John Haynes Memorial Veterans' Hall in Garberville, CA.1 point
