I just had to come here to post one of the pictures I took at the Berlin show tonight because THE TIE! THE SMILE! Good night đ6 points

I've missed five days so I won't post them all at once. I will post a look back at everything from June at the end of the month though, and as Rumpel said, there's the on this day tag on the GDA Tumblr. Anyway! On this day 5 years ago (10 June 2019), The Longshot played in Pioneertown, CA. 6 years ago (2018), The Longshot played in Portland, OR. Billie is pointing at the branding he did on Chris Cote's arse on the Pop Disaster Tour there, by the way. 30 years ago (1994), Green Day played Live 105 BFD in Mountain View, CA. I had no idea which show these pictures were from, but now I know. More photos: These photos were also taken that day. And 35 years ago (1989), Green Day played the John Haynes Memorial Veterans' Hall in Garberville, CA.4 points

I expected an absolute shitfest in Lyon, but it was one of the best crowds I've been in. I usually find crowds boring when I've got clear air behind me, but I only did in Lyon because people were too busy dancing, singing, jumping and waving to be aggressive. It didn't matter how old or young someone was (as Cristhyne said, there was an impressive range of ages), what nationality they were, or how long they'd been a fan â we were all united in our love for Green Day and music. The crowdsurfers who came over were doing it for fun. Whenever I looked around, people were smiling and freaking out, even one of the security guards. Obviously, it was just one show and I find it very hard to believe British crowds will ever be that decent, but then French crowds have an even worse reputation and they didn't live up to it, so I'm hopeful other shows will be like that.3 points

I keep thinking it looks like he's wearing pajamas. I am fangirling over Kevin not being blocked by an amp anymore.3 points

@jengd arenât you a fan of the striped pants look? These are gorgeous, my favorite look of the tour so far, wasnât really a fan of the other pants. The black flares looked like yoga pants to me. Iâm sure theyâre comfortable for movement, but these stripes are đ„3 points

Idk, they sound great to me and theyâre playing their two most iconic albums at most tour stops in addition to other wonderful old and new songs. I seriously have been loving the setlist most shows so far. The shows are still really long and their energy still seems fantastic. IMO, watching Billie performing sober is a more pleasant experience on every level â you can see him enjoying being in the moment and there are no rants/outbursts that tended to happen on the 21CB tour. And âless interactionâ â theyâre definitely playing straight through songs more than they used to, but I personally love that. At one point years ago, it seriously felt like theyâd stop in the middle of every single song and thatâs just not necessary. From what Iâve seen, theyâre still engaging with the crowd, but in a way thatâs less disruptive of the performances, and as an audience member I definitely appreciate that.2 points

I say put Fancy Sauce in place of Minority and make KYE a rotating Saviors song. More diehards would go to more shows if they knew there would be some changes.2 points
-
Fancy sauce at the end would be brilliant but Bobby Sox works too since itâs just a fun song! They added it at the end unplanned at rock am ring but Iâm guessing they really liked it in that spot and are maybe keeping it2 points
-
I can confirm too, I loved that they added Bobby Sox at the end, it sounded so great live! And then Billie said he has to make the curfew and sped up some parts of Time of Your Life đ But what a dream come true to hear AI in full I'm so so happy I got to be at this show (even though it rained the whole time and I wasn't at the front), one of my favourite Green Day memories now for sure2 points

I was there and I think it was an amazing show. Maybe Iâm biased (well, I obviously am) but Iâve seen plenty of big bands headlining these massive festivals and I think this was probably the best headline performance Iâve seen. The atmosphere was great and the band sounded amazing. I was a bit disappointed that they didnât play Dookie in full but they made up for it with all the AI songs. Itâs truly great to see how even a festival crowd like this knows all of the songs on that album. We also got three Saviors songs and they even played Bobby Sox as the closing track (apart from Good Riddance of course). So yeah, it was a special night. It was only my second Green Day show but Iâd say it was probably even better than the first one.2 points

I can only speak for the Lyon show so far, but the crowd was pretty amazing! Not too tough, but definitely very into the show, singing along to every single song, jumping when Billie asked them too, turning on their phone's flash lights when asked, doing the hey-ohs, etc. That said, this is my first concert of this size in Europe, so I don't have a lot to compare to, and I was in the front row, meaning that anyone near to me had queued for hours or paid for VIP, both signaling a high level of commitment. The other thing that I found interesting and loved about the crowd was the wide range of ages, I'm in my 30s, and yet I saw people at least 15 years younger than me as well as people 15 - 20 years older and more. It really says something about the band that they have managed to keep older fans engaged for decades, while still appealing to younger audiences.2 points

From Billie's Instagram story If anyone who doesn't have Instagram would like me to upload Kevin Preston or Coley O'Toole's posts I can but it's quite fiddly and around 15-20 more photos so I will do it if someone wants to see them but if not I'll just leave it2 points

Jeffâs backing vocals will be missed. They added a ton to their sound for sure. I remember seeing brutal love live and remember how good both his and Billieâs vocals sounded.1 point

They have gotten shorter, but I wouldn't necessarily say worse though. I was at the Lyon show and when I first read some where that they had played 37 songs I was like "no way! Their show in Venezuela (2010 or 2011 I think) lasted way longer than this and they didn't play that many songs then!" For me it's still hard to believe that they played 37 songs, even after counting them myself. But they did. I got to hear American Idiot in full (literally a dream come true), I had been to 5 Green Day concerts before (1 from the AI tour, 3 from the 21stBD tour and Bataclan last year), and yet at this show I got to hear 15 songs live that I had never heard live before. For me that is pretty monumental. If they have to sacrifice a bunch of hey-ohs and the whole King for a Day act (or whatever else they were doing during the previous tours), in order to be able to deliver that, I'm cool with it. As you say, they are getting older, we cannot expect them to keep the same pace they had 15 - 20 years ago, and of all the things they could sacrifice in order to be able to keep on delivering a good show, I personally feel they sacrificed the right ones.1 point

Tbh this tour is far better than Hella Mega and Iâm totally happy with it. Theyâre doing a lot Fan interactions and playinf over 30 Songs for about 2.5 hours which is great. the only thing Iâm âdisappointedâ is they disnât play Dookie in full because they went 10 min too late on stage and finished at 1am like it was planned. Sad we didnât get dookie/AI in full as Pro Shots. But the show was great and Iâm completely tired after 12 hours at the stage1 point

Jeff Matika only used to play on St Jimmy didnt he? Or was he doing more just behind the amps? Jason White does an incredible job and he doesn't like the spotlight so is the perfect guy to do what he does.1 point

Despite being exhausted, when I got back to the hotel after Hella Mega I instantly looked up Green Day songs on Spotify and Kill the DJ was one of the first ones to come up. I then proceeded to sing it around the house for the entire week after. I really love songs that are repetitive like that.1 point

On this day 2 years ago (3 June 2022), Green Day played Rock am Ring festival in Germany on the Hella Mega Tour. More photos: 15 years ago (2009), Green Day were interviewed and played 6 songs on Last Call with Carson Daly. 19 years ago (2005), Green Day played Rock am Ring on the American Idiot Tour. 30 years ago (1994), they played the Revolver Club in Madrid on the Dookie Tour. 32 years ago (1992), Green Day played the Euclid Tavern in Cleveland on the Kerplunk Tour. "I wasn't hip to those guys, and I've never been much of a fan of pop-punk. So I had this agent call me about booking them and I'm like, 'I don't know, I don't think so.' I was more than happy to give them a show here because they had an empty date. So I said, 'How about $100?' I wasn't a big fan of that kind of music, but Green Day was awesome. They were the nicest guys â so friendly, just happy to be playing as a band and on the road. You get a good feeling about some bands because they have so much enthusiasm. They would've been happy just having something to eat." â Derek Hess, artist who booked Green Day in at the Euclid Tavern1 point

On this day 6 years ago (2 June 2018), The Longshot played in Philadelphia, PA. Billie's selfie from that day: 14 years ago (2010), Green Day played Skive Festival in Denmark. I am also learning the names of some European places I'd never heard of. 31 years ago (1993), they played the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood. And 35 years ago (1989), they played the Davis Community Center. There's a video of the show on YouTube.1 point
