  1. I Iove this band to death. I've seen them so many times and have been listening to Green Day for 20 years now. I was at their show yesterday and will see them several more times over the next days and weeks, simply because I love this band. But honestly, the live shows have gotten worse, shorter, and less interactive since the 21st Century Breakdown tour. It feels like the band is rushing through the set. They are getting older, and I understand that, but that's just my opinion. The 21st Century Breakdown tour was the pinnacle of their live performance.

  4. It was during the quiet (crowd participation) part of Hitchin' a Ride and I was wondering why they would want the band or BJ to shit on the stage haha

  5. In some songs the tuning of the guitars is different (by example the Dookie songs and TADIKM, tuned in E flat), so changing guitars is faster than re-tuning them. Then the give-away guitars. And of course it's part of the show, some guitars fit better to some songs. And refering to 3 guitars playing the same chords: the sound gets thicker nevertheless because no one is strumming at the exact same millisecond. During studio recordings you also often hear 4-6 guitars at the same time, to get a bigger sound (especially since 21CB). And sometimes you can see that they play different chords on stage (by example Billie sometimes plays open chords while Jason plays power/barrée chords and/or Kevin plays lead guitar parts)

  6. I was at the show. The set started on time. I also noticed the different setlist because some songs were missing. They only played the title track from Saviors. Apparently they spontaneously tweaked the setlist during the show, as Billie spoke to the crew several times and for longer.

  10. not sure if this joke has been made before but i remember a couple of years ago when i watched livestreams gdc users lost their shit every time they (predictably) played KFAD and started petitions for it to be removed from the setlist

  11. I think people did reply, no? For me it makes sense that All By Myself doesn't make it to festivals? Probably it's mostly fans who'd appreciate that song, and they might expect a mix of fans with more relaxed festival-goers, so perhaps that's why they've dropped it? I'm starting to think those two festivals before Lyon were for like a trial run for the two album thing, how long that'd take, etc. As for Hitchin a Ride, 21 guns and other classic making it to the set list... for the same reason as above, it makes sense for me to add them to festival where you might have more people who are not there only for Green Day and might only know the hits. For the stadium shows, it makes very little sense to me to add these type of songs... a lot of people going to these shows have already seen Green Day before, and therefore have seen Hitchin a Ride, 21 Guns, etc., quite a few times, and I think we could use that time to hear songs we haven't heard live before, be that from Saviors or even the rarely played from previous albums... I'd personally prefer to hear Brat, Panic Song, Peacemaker, Blood Sex and Booze, etc, rather than Hitchin' a Ride for the 5th time. (And just in case PeterStrange does have strange super powers, for the love of god add Fancy Sauce to the non-festival shows, thanks Pete! 😂)

  15. DILEMMA! Well I stand corrected about them dropping saviors songs So so glad. I was thinking they were following yesterdays Rock Im Park Setlist

  16. I’m just gonna assume that the festival crowds weren’t getting into the Saviors songs so they just dropped them. Kind of sucks but it’s whatever

  18. Jeff Matika only used to play on St Jimmy didnt he? Or was he doing more just behind the amps? Jason White does an incredible job and he doesn't like the spotlight so is the perfect guy to do what he does.

  19. Despite being exhausted, when I got back to the hotel after Hella Mega I instantly looked up Green Day songs on Spotify and Kill the DJ was one of the first ones to come up. I then proceeded to sing it around the house for the entire week after. I really love songs that are repetitive like that.

  22. In Bullet in a Bible Jason's guitar is also much louder than Billie's in some songs. Bx example during the solos of American Idiot and Holiday. You barely hear Billie's guitar there. But I think it's totally fine since Billie's job as lead singer is also to be an entertainer.
    2 points
  23. Yeah he used to play rhythm while Jason played lead and the third guitar was just to fill in rhythm for songs like St Jimmy where he didn’t play at all. Now I think Jason and Kevin pretty much play everything and Billie just adds some power chords and flourishes

  24. While I appreciate the professionalism of wanting a song to sound good no matter what, I do find it weird when artists use a backing track to fill in their voice when they stop singing or add extra guitars to fill in their own if they stop playing. I totally get the thought behind it, but I’d rather be able to notice when something live drops out than have it make little difference.

  26. His voice sounded a bit shaky. That's why I think they cut the set down a bit in the meantime. I was standing in the front row on the left side of the catwalk, and the sound was weak there too. I was able to have an almost normal conversation with the person next to me during the concert.

  27. Front on Mike‘s side, but on the corner of the stage close to the exit - maybe the sound was better in the center. Hm yes quite a few hey-ohs😂 But not really much talking. I wish there had been more. To be honest, I miss the Billie rants 😢 There was one short interruption due to a medical emergency (Billie stopped in the middle of the song to make sure the person was ok - so sweet). They were scheduled from 9.40-11 pm, but finished around 10.45/10.50pm.

  28. I was there too. Great show as always, but I was also confused about the skipped Dookie songs and they finished 10 minutes early - unusual for them. Looks like they cut it short kind of unplanned? Some people on Instagram complain about this („10 minutes intro and then finish 10 minutes early“). Maybe there was an issue with sound/electricity in general, I noticed that the big screens sometimes went black in the middle of a song and the sound balance wasn’t too good, at least from where I was standing (voice way too quiet). So maybe it was that?

  31. I love it! It's one of the best Green Day songs to walk around feeling badass to lol. It's no surprise that The Network outrageously STOLE the verses, made them dirtier and put them in their song Jerry Falwell's Pool Party. I've always thought the line "hold him underwater til he suffocates and drowns" on the "clean" version is a lot more brutal than "til that motherfucker drowns"

  33. this song has to be my absolute favorite Green Day song ever. I don’t know what about it gets me. I’m gonna start with the guitar melody. Something about the mix of punk pop-ish badass dance rock hooks me for some reason. And the random OO00OoooOooo00000OOooo during the intro is just🤌. And the riff between “runnin runnin red” and “the bullet that you asked for” is just PERFECT. Also, the way Mike and Billie’s voices intwine in the main chorus is everything. not to mention the VIBRA SLAP ON VULTURES ARGGGG THAT GETS ME. and the way he says “the dirtiest kind” is just so good. Also, the guitar on the main chorus like dehne dehne dehne dehne dehne it’s perfect. I’m basically just rambling now, but the song is literally perfect. And the silly goofy music video with the motorcycles- idk I love it. I’ve never met another Green Day fan whose favorite song is kill the DJ. I just want to see if anyone else out there in idiot nation loves kill the DJ. lmk if you do

  34. This makes me sad but hopefully won’t affect the non-festival shows. I want to hear lots of Saviors songs Did Billie understand what they were saying? This reminds me of the one UK show from RevRad where the crowd were yelling “Yorkshire!” and Billie said “Did you just call me a cocksucker?” 😂

  39. Them calling it a "tribute album" really makes it sound like he's died considering he has serious medical issues, relieved to see he hasn't. But it's a nice idea and looking forward to hearing Billie's song.

  44. 37 songs. How they can handle this. They are 50 years old. 😅

  45. They did play 37 songs! It definitely didn't feel like one of their longest shows to me, so I also had trouble believing it until I counted them myself. I think the fact that they significantly reduced the number of hey-oh's and dropped the whole King for a Day act (don't know if this was the case already for tours between 21stCB and this one), is what makes it feel standard in length but be able to pack in more songs. Also that most of Dookie songs are not too long. And I am very glad you decided to go, it was great queuing and sharing the experience with you! I recorded only a couple videos and during some of "less remarkable" songs (Welcome to Paradise, Brain Stew, and American Idiot), but I can upload them later if anyone is interested. Also, the stage was amazing and for all the advantages of being in front row, I think a disadvantage is that I didn't realize exactly how cool it was until the end (I only noticed the screen on the top at the end, for instance). It was definitely an amazing show! I 100% agree with this. Fancy Sauce towards the end would be a dream. But if I had to compromise, I'd replace KYE or OEB with it... but some people would disagree, and I guess you cannot make everyone happy. I'm already content with what I got, but still keeping my fingers crossed for some Fancy Sauce in one of the other shows I'm going to 😄

  46. It’s unlikely, they don’t have many free days once they hit the UK. More likely to be after the tour

  47. I wouldn't judge too much from a festival. Also if it is their own sound people hopefully the bad feedback will mean they sort it out for upcoming shows.
