On this day 6 years ago (22 May 2018), The Longshot played Coney Island Baby in NYC. Thanks to @Montclare for finding this photo. More photos: 11 years ago (2013), Green Day played a secret show in Milan. More photos: 15 years ago (2009), they performed on Good Morning America in Central Park. More photos: They also performed East Jesus Nowhere on the David Letterman Show that day. More photos: 16 years ago (2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played in Austin, TX. Green Day also played Emo's back in the day. More photos: "STING!!! STING!! Emo's aint got nothin to do with whiny boygroups that do backflips. Emo's let the blue ribbin flow like the mississippi! Crooked letter, humpback eye, Sweetlips! STING!!!!!!!!!!" — The Rev on MySpace "Humpback eye" is another high quality Rev quote. 22 years ago (2002), Green Day played Virginia Beach, VA on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago, they played the New Rock Fest 1998. And 32 years ago (1992), they played the Whole Music Club in Minneapolis, MN. I do think they're all looking their age without makeup but that isn't an insult at all. Ageing doesn't mean looking worse and they're rocking it.6 points

Let's not forget that for that secret show in 2013, they took over Prima Donna's stage and instruments.4 points

Omg following the Foxboro tour on GDC (Foxboro Hot Tubs Community at the time) was the best and the Rev's myspace message were wild. Sting baby girl!4 points

Still can't believe how good this album is. Latest song I'm obsessed with is Coma City. Besides adoring the tune from a musical point of view, I just love how it describes today's reality where everything seems to be going down the drain and no one gives a fuck or does anything to prevent it. We're all just boarding up our windows and drinking our lemonades, while we live in a collective coma waiting for the inexorable to happen. Love the instrumental outro. Feels like the apocalypse, everything is going to shit around us - shootings, war, chaos (Tré especially does a hell of a job conveying all that) - but no one does or says anything anymore; even the narrator has fallen into the coma and is left without words. Not to mention how all of that is picked up again by Saviors later on: "Everyone's asleep but nobody's dreaming / We got all the fiction that's worth believing". There's just no dream worth believing in anymore apart from the bullshit we get fed with every single day. Fucking genius. A punch in the gut every time I listen to it.4 points

Two things: if you haven’t seen all the videos from that GM performance, you need to see this and also, Billie wrote some wild stuff as The Rev, I love it! 😂❤️3 points

In my opinion they haven't changed much. Billie is starting to look his age, but Mike and Tre almost look exactly the same (in my opinion). As you said, age is not a bad thing and they are beautiful ❤️. But it does depend on the image however, sometimes in a picture Billie looks his age but in other images he reminds me of how he looked in 2005 (despite hair color). Same with Mike and Tre. Again, they are all beautiful no matter how old they get. ❤️. I am actually glad that they are not like other celebrities who are scared to age. They are not scared to look older and I love it ❤️.2 points

I recently realized that Billie Joe has restricted my Instagram profile! I can comment on any of his posts, but only I can see my comment (it is hidden from everyone else), and and I can't tag him anywhere anymore 😕 . I swear I have never commented inappropriately and I have never disturbed him in private, except for responding to some stories, always in a friendly and respectful manner! Has anyone else noticed being in the same situation? I only realized it yesterday (a friend couldn't see my comment, so I did some tests). After researching, I found out that this happens when a user restricts a profile.1 point

Love this. It really is the theme of the whole album if it has one. I like the similar sentiments in Strange Days Are Here to Stay: “Well this is how the world will end, when superheroes play pretend.” And of course, the song Saviors itself. We need real heroes now more than ever, and all we have are fake ones in the movies.1 point

Didn't have time to post yesterday. So, 15 years ago yesterday (20 May 2009), Green Day played the PC Richard Theatre in NYC. More pics: 16 years ago yesterday (20 May 2008), Stop Drop & Roll was released. The Foxboro Hot Tubs also played in New Orleans. More pics: "Dear Tub Heads, Damn my shoes are gravy!! We kicked our two step through the big easy. Toastin tequila shots to my main man Trombone Shorty! All the Honeydips and Big Dogs came out to One Eyed Jacks. I did a little magic trick by turnin a tall boy into a bottle of Jack. Then I got Bourbon faced on Shit Street! Sting!!!!!!! There's a whole lotta lushotology in this town. My Man Mr Freese lost his mouth piece but found it back at Juanitas! Thank you, baby!I need to see a little more dressin up out out there! Drop your laundry and let's get down, now.. Sting! Sting! Reverend Strychnine Twitch" — The Rev on MySpace As we all know, "drop your laundry" later became a Fuck Time lyric. 19 years ago (20 May 2005), Green Day played in Calgary, Canada on the American Idiot Tour. 22 years ago (20 May 2002), they played in Charlotte, NC on the Pop Disaster Tour. Maria must have been a great opener. I am not saying that just because it's my name. 26 years ago (20 May 1998), they played in Cincinnati, OH. No photos but there is a nice article written before the show. For some reason I was convinced Cincinnati was on the east coast until this project taught me otherwise. I know everyone was waiting with bated breath for that information. 30 years ago (20 May 1994), Green Day played in Hahn, Germany on the Dookie Tour. 31 years ago (20 May 1993), they played Slim's in San Francisco. This was their first of three shows there. The other two were later in 1994. And 32 years ago (20 May 1992), they played in Sioux Falls, SD on the Kerplunk Tour. Right, now onto today. On this day four years ago (21 May 2020), the Dreaming video was released. 15 years ago (2009), Green Day were on The Colbert Report. 16 years ago (2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played in Dallas, TX. "Texas hold em? Damn near killed em! Texas hold em? Damn near killed em! Aaaaahhhooooouunshshdhuybedkksjbdhchfuduuiiim? Tub heads! Another rock n roll execution! Texas style, Babys! We rode the mechanical bull at Gilleys.. Smoke up Johnny proved to be THEE urban cowboys!! I mentally undressed Dallas then jumped into a 71 stolen cadillac straight to Austin! Where all the Honeydips grabbed the bull by the horns! That's what I'm talkin bout! STING!!! STING!!" — The Rev on MySpace My favourite Rev quote might be "Aaaaahhhooooouunshshdhuybedkksjbdhchfuduuiiim?" Although "I mentally undressed Dallas" is also high quality. 30 years ago, Green Day played Breminale Festival 1994. And 32 years ago, they played on a farm in Saint Peter, MN. You would never get any judgement from me even if you did have to whip out the calculator for that, because I've used it to check I've got it right for every single era. Maths is not my strong suit. And it is seriously unbelievable that was seven years ago. I'd forgotten just how insane The Rev was1 point

We wanna send some love out to my brohams Mommies Friend and those freaky sugar city sex monkeys by the name of Mystic Knights of the Cobra.. And to all of those ready to see the Tubbies... I very rarely buy band stuff these days, but couldn't resist these photos from the Brixton and Milton Keynes shows on the American Idiot Tour. I'm a photography nerd (and Green Day photo nerd) despite my claims that doing photography for a living has made me hate it. Glad to support other British photographers too. Oh, and of course I printed some of my own photos for myself when I did the giveaway.1 point

21st Century Breakdown was indeed released 15 years ago today! 15 May, 2009. This was what my wall looked like back then. I remember getting that Gloria poster from HMV and pulling down a Sum 41 one to make room for it. On this day 16 years ago (15 May 2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played their first show at the Stork Club in Oakland. "Dear Tub Heads, We just completed our debut at the dreamers bar called the Stork club in our beloved Alemeda county. Sting!!!" — The Rev on MySpace "The group was also graced with an appearance by Billie Joe’s sister, whose name could not be heard from where I was hyperventilating." — Stephen Buel, East Bay Express More photos: 19 years ago (15 May 2005), Green Day played in Omaha, NE on the American Idiot Tour. "I guess if I had to choose a 'my very first concert' even to take my nephew, I can't think of a better band to see than Green Day in 2005." — Sean McCarthy, The Daily Vault 22 years ago (15 May 2002), they played West Palm Beach, FL on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago (15 May 1998), they played in Henrietta (Rochester, NY) on the Nimrod Tour. 30 years ago (15 May 1994), they played another show in Berlin, Germany on the Dookie Tour. It's a good thing the Instagram stories are scheduled because as you can see, I keep forgetting. Anyway, 7 years ago yesterday (13 May 2017), Green Day played in Auckland, New Zealand. More photos: There was also a soundcheck video that day. 19 years ago (13 May 2005), Green Day played in St. Louis on the American Idiot Tour. 26 years ago (13 May 1998), they played in Burlington, VT on the Nimrod Tour. "I've been truly lucky to see thousands and thousands of live concerts over the years, and, truth-be-told, my FIRST (real deal) concert (by myself) was Green Day. May 1998. I was 13 years old. My mom dropped me off at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Burlington, Vermont. Green Day was touring their landmark album Nimrod. As a nerdy-looking kid (coke bottle glasses and gel in my hair), who was 100 pounds soaking wet at that time, I wandered the old auditorium (a gymnasium) and found a seat way up on the wrap-around balcony. I watched the band destroy not only my eardrums, but also what I thought music was. They kickstarted something within me, where I found myself thinking, 'I want to always be around this feeling I have.' (Which was live music.) And, I've been on that quest ever since. So, thanks Billie Joe and Co." — Garret K. Woodward, fan And 30 years ago (13 May 1994), they played in Berlin, Germany on the Dookie Tour. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On this day 7 years ago (14 May 2017), Green Day played a second night in Auckland, New Zealand. More photos: 19 years ago (14 May 2005), they played in Kansas City, MO on the American Idiot Tour. 22 years ago (14 May 2002), they played in Tampa, FL on the Pop Disaster Tour. "I wanted to share my little Billie Joe meeting story. I went to the Pop Disaster tour show in Tampa, Florida on May 14th, 2002. It was an incredible show. Jimmy Eat World opened, Green Day was in the middle, and Blink-182 were the closers. Green Day slaughtered Blink-182, by the way. They were so tight and put on such a better show. I actually still have the show ticket and some pieces of confetti with Green Day's logo printed on them. They shot out the confetti throughout the show out of big cannons. Anyway, after the show ended I really wanted to try and meet anyone I could. A fairly small group of fans found a fenced in area where the tour buses were located. We watched Tre and Mike leave the arena and head straight into their buses. We called out for them, they waved to us, but they didn't come over. Billie Joe ended up coming out last and to our utter shock, he started walking towards us as we called out to him. He started at one end of the line and started signing items for people through the fence. I had purchased this foam hand during the show, and it was the first thing I thought to hand him to sign. He was incredibly nice and seemed very appreciative of the kind words from the group. My respect for him grew immensely that night because of this - the girl next to me raised her shirt and asked him to sign her chest. He very politely told her that he couldn't because he was a married man and asked if she had anything else to sign. I thought it was very respectful and cool that he handled it like that. Anyway, that's my story..." — Imonlysleepingx on Reddit, fan 26 years ago (14 May 1998), they played in Williamsville (AKA Buffalo, NY) on the Nimrod Tour.
